"no please stop." you cried as your boyfriend damien tried to swing at you again.
your pleas didn't work. his hand connected with your face. it burned red with his handprint. your hand rested on the place he had just hit.
the bruises and cuts littered your body from head to toe. this wasn't the first time.
you felt foolish to still be in the relationship. you felt weak that you couldn't get away from him. but you were scared.
you had tried to break up with him once again and that's why you were a heaping mess on the floor of his apartment.
damien threw a hand towards you before walking out of his apartment, leaving you alone.
"fuck." you groaned in pain as you got off the floor.
you walked to the closest mirror to look at your newest injuries: red hand print on face from slap, bruised wrist from being pulled, bloody ankle from him throwing a plate on the ground.
you let out a sob. you bit your bottom lip as hard as you could to muffle the noise. you tasted the blood pooling in the inside of your mouth.
you ran out of his apartment into the toronto night. it had began to snow.
you stopped and looked at the serene landscape before remembering you looked terrifying. you put the hood up of the sweatshirt you were wearing and climbed into the driver's seat of your car.
you started to drive in the direction of your apartment.
what if he came to your apartment?
the thoughts of him coming back distracted and horrified you.
where would you go?
you thought of kasperi. you hadn't seen him in months, since the time you introduced him to damien and he begged you to break up with him.

kasperi saw the glimpses of him that you had never saw in the beginning. you wish that you had listened to him.
you decided on going to kasperi's apartment in the middle of the city. it wasn't that far of a drive, about 15 minutes.
you walked into his apartment complex, one that was so familiar. you used to come here practically everyday to visit your bestfriend.
"hello y/n." the security guard said.
he had learned your name from the many times you had been here. you were also on the list that could go up to the penthouse level of the apartment building.
"hey ben." you greeted back quietly.
"go on up darling." he smiled.
you nodded and walked past the elevator.
you needed some time to think about what you were doing.
what would he think when he answered his door and you were standing there?
your mind raced, but that was quickly interrupted when you started to climb the stairs. each one of your wounds screamed in pain. you kept walking as your whole body stung in agony for you to stop.
finally you got to his door, ready to collapse. you glanced at the white door with the silver numbers. you closed your eyes and knocked solidly 3 times.
"one second!" you heard his voice call out.
you immediately felt comforted from the sound of his voice.
the door slowly opened. brown curls and bare chest peeked out of the door.
"y/n?" he asked.
you nodded nervously.
"come in." he opened the door wider and stepped out of the way.
you walked in and looked around. you were immediately encapsulated by the view outside through his wall of windows. the dark toronto sky with the tiny white flakes dropping from the clouds.

"what are you doing here?" he asked stepping next to you.
"just thought it would be nice to see you." your voice came out very raspy and cracked.
"are you okay?" he worried.
you shrugged honestly.
you felt his hands go up to your cheeks. you winced as he touched the red mark on your face.
kasperi's eyes widened and he grabbed your hood gently and pulled it off.
"who did that?" he pushed immediately.
you could see his face getting redder with anger by the second.
"y/n, did he do that? what's that kids name? did damien do that?" he demanded an answer.
you nodded, biting your lip once more.
kasperi turned away and cursed in finnish.
"why wouldn't you tell me?" he fumed.
you shrugged.
kasperi paced around the room with rage.
"where is he?" kasperi hissed.
"i don't know." you said.
"WHERE IS HE Y/N?" he seethed in anger.
"I DONT KNOW KAPPY" you matched his volume in fear.
"i'll kill him." kasperi mumbled, "hoodie off."
"what?" you questioned.
"take it off." he said sternly.
you quickly peeled off your hoodie. kasperi took it from your hands and placed it on a chair.
he looked your body from top to bottom. his eyes softened as he found each bruise and cut.
"y/n you don't deserve this."
"WHAT DO I DESERVE?" you wailed, "I KNOW WHAT I SHOULD HAVE BUT WHY HAVE I NEVER GOT IT?"
kasperi looked at you sadly.
"you deserve someone who doesn't treat you like shit. who doesn't touch you unless it's with love. you deserve someone that will never hit you."
"PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME ON WHO THAT WOULD BE." you wailed with tears falling down your cheeks rapidly.
the silence filled the entire apartment. his gaze was still meeting yours. his eyes never left your eyes. you looked at the wooden floor scared of the silence.
"me."
you looked up and into his light brown eyes.
"wear my jersey to the leafs games, wear my shirts that go down to your knees, let me cuddle you, let me kiss you." he pleaded with tears running down his face, "let me protect you."
your mouth slightly fell open.
"just please, don't go back to him. let me protect you." he said with tears matching yours.
you couldn't say anything.
he grabbed your black and blue wrist delicately and ran his thumb over it, "i would never do this. i would rather die." he kissed it gently.
"kasperi." you breathed out.
he looked up and hummed for a response.
you hugged him, digging your head into his chest. he felt your hot tears on his bare chest.
"i've got you. i'll never let him get to you ever again." he consoled.
you let out sobs as he pulled you closer into his warm body.
"you're safe kultaseni" he whispered, "safe forever."
