"So how are things between you and Scotty?" Kelly asked.

The WAGs and Y/N had all gone out for brunch that morning and they wanted to know all the gossip between Y/N and her internet Lover.

Laughing softly, Y/N looked around the table. She was surrounded by interested eyes and curious grins, everyone was anticipating what she might say. In all honesty, it was kind of nice to have people be interested in her life, but she also knew that there wasn't much she could tell them.

"Well, it's good I think? I still don't know who he really is but I think that's alright because it's not like anything was ever going to come out of it." she told them. Sipping at her mimosa, she glanced around the group.

"We've sexted once and that was it." she spilled some of the more juicy secrets that her friends were looking for, her ears ached slightly as the women around her gasped and some squealed.

"Was he big?"

"Did he look hairy?"

"Was it good?"

Y/N was ambushed by a variety of questions and she honestly wasn't sure what to answer first. Part of her wanted to keep the mystery for her friends, but she wasn't sure if it was because she wanted them to keep guessing, or if she wanted to respect Scotty's Privacy.

If she really thought about it, she wanted to keep the details to herself because she was afraid of being judged. What if she told them something that they thought was gross, would they judge her or think she was weird because it was something that turned her on?

She knew that her friends would never be like that, but the uncertainty still made her question herself.

"It was good... we actually watched a few movies and shows with each other last week." she told her friends. "Watched some comedians and things like that." she mentioned.

Kelly grinned. "Thats cute- kind of like a movie date." she chuckled.

The older women genuinely liked seeing her friends be so relaxed and interested in putting herself out on the market again. Even if it took some stranger on the internet to give her the confidence to do so.

Y/N certainly had her doubts about who Scotty might actually be. They didn't talk much about their work or things like that, but she knew he must have an important job because of his schedule. He often worked at night or had early morning meetings.

Part of her thought that he might be a Nurse or a doctor. It would explain his constantly changing schedule, and it would also explain as to why he is surrounded by luxury items in his profile.

She wanted to ask him what he did for work, but she knew that when they first started their exchange, they both wanted everything to be completely anonymous. It would be unfair to expect anything more from him.

It had been roughly a month since she had started talking to Scotty and while things were going well, Y/N found herself starting to fall back into old habits. When she was in previous relationships, she became attached and involved. She wanted to be there for the person. Sometimes it got to the point where she was obviously more interested than her partner was.

She didn't want that to happen with Scotty.

"What's been going on with you and Matthew lately? You don't seem to be at each other's throats as much." Someone mentioned.

Y/N stiffened, she didn't think her friends had really noticed that she was being nice to Matthew. It wasn't entirely on purpose, but Scotty had been making her happy so her mood overall had been boosted.

"Uhm nothing really I guess- I'm just kind of tired of constantly fighting whenever we all go out." she told them honestly. "He's not as intolerable as I thought he was."

Kelly grinned. "Well I know that Cam is relieved you guys are getting along... He thinks that you two would be good for each other." she grinned.

Y/N laughed at that. She Certainly didn't see things the same way as her goalie friend. Even though she had known Cam for a long time, sometimes they didn't see eye to eye.

She made a mental note to ask him about it the next time she saw him. Although she wasn't sure when that would be.

The brunch came to an end far too soon for Y/N's liking. Everything was getting a lot busier at work so this was going to be the last time she could go out with the group before she had to settle into her schedule for a couple of weeks.

But it wasn't as if the others weren't busy as well. A few of the WAGs were heading back home to visit their families and some had their own lives too. As often as the girls hung out, they all had other things to tend to outside of their brunches and nights out.

Y/N wasn't sure she would miss her friends all that much, she thought that the busy schedule would be enough to distract her from her paused social life. But as the weeks passed and she found herself reeling in her isolation, she knew it was time to make a change. She had been texting Scotty as well, but sometimes she was just too tired to answer him back and he was busy too so their messages became spared.

An impulse decision had been made and Y/N finally decided to go through with moving out of her apartment.

It only took a few days for her to set up a meeting to view a condo downtown, but luckily for her, by the end of her third week alone, she had the keys to a brand new condo.

The only issue now was that she needed help moving all of her things. Having just spent the majority of her money on the deposit and first month's rent, Y/N couldn't afford a moving truck. It didn't make sense to dish out a lot of money for a few pieces of furniture anyways.

She had called Cam but he was visiting some of his friends in southern Alberta during the two days he had off with Kelly. She called a few of her other friends outside of the hockey circle, but none of them had trucks.

That left her to call Matthew.

She hadn't been talking to him too much in the last few weeks, but she knew that the last time they spoke they left things on a high note. Which in all honesty was rare for them.

Surprisingly, Matthew was actually down to help her move everything into her apartment. He was dying of boredom in his apartment so he would take the opportunity to get out.

His SUV wasn't massive but it was big enough to fit Y/N's mattress and her night stands in the back. "Do you need anything else?" He asked, pushing a cardboard box into his trunk as he stood outside of Y/N's old apartment.

The girl had packed her car full of cardboard boxes and laundry baskets filled with clothes and books. "Uh just this lamp- but I think I can fit it in my car i don't want you to break it." she looked down at her white lamp worriedly as she wasn't entirely sure she trusted Matthew with it.

Matthew laughed. "You cant even fit anything else in your car- I promise I got it." he reached out and took the lamp from her, noticing how Y/N bit her lip nervously. "I'll even buckle it up in the passenger's seat." He reassured her.

Things had definitely shifted between the two of them. Even though neither of them would admit it, they had become friends. They enjoyed spending time around one another now. Even though those moments were few and far between, they seemed to have a decent time when it did happen.

Y/N sighed and nodded. "Alright- You have the address right?" she asked him, grabbing her keys and heading over to her car. Looking back at her apartment for the last time, she was excited to move on- but she would miss her old place. At least for the first little while.

It didn't take long for them to drive to her new place. Downtown Calgary wasn't too busy this time of night, Matthew still couldn't understand why on earth Y/N wanted to move everything into her apartment around eight o'clock.

But nonetheless, he showed up and helped her with her things. They moved everything into the condo, unpacking a few boxes and organizing before they finally took a break. Sitting on her living room floor, they were surrounded by stacks of cardboard boxes and shelves and coffee tables that had yet to be built.

"The power doesn't get turned on until tomorrow." Y/N sighed, coming from the kitchen with a candle and a lighter. She had a bottle of wine and two glasses in her other hand. Sitting down on the floor beside Matthew, the two of them sat in front of her large window.

Given that her window was rather high up, Y/N could see the stars and the moon from her spot on the floor. "I didn't get that back home..." she trailed off.

Sitting crossed legged, Matthew glanced over at her. He watched as the moonlight cascaded against her skin and the orange glow from the now-lit candle warmed her figure. He hadn't noticed it before, but her eyelashes were a soft dark brown, he wondered if they felt as soft as they looked- almost like silken feathers. The wonder and amusement in her eyes was unlike anything he had ever seen before. She was stunning and he wondered how he had never noticed it before.

As they sat side by side, talking about particularly nothing, Y/N began to relax. She had been rather nervous about spending her first night in the new condo, but having Matthew there was surprisingly comforting. They shared a bottle of wine and shared random stories, Matthew spilling some of the gossip from on the road, to his fears of becoming captain one day.

"Well I think if anyone should become captain after Mark retires, it should be you." she told him honestly, sipping the top of her wine glass.

Matthew furrowed his brows. He certainly wasn't expecting her to say that. "You really think so?" he asked, almost thinking that she was pulling his leg.

Y/N nodded. "I've seen you play plenty of times Matt. You're so passionate about the game and you're a strong leader... Calgary would be lucky to have you." she promised.

Chuckling softly, Matt smiled. "When did we become so soft with one another?" he teased, bumping her shoulder with his playfully.

The woman grinned, she let out a content sigh. She really couldn't pin-point the moment where they suddenly started to relax one another, but she liked it. From what she could tell, Matt did too.

Maybe he wasn't such a bad guy after all.
