《The tokoyamiverse》Puppet partner

in this world, you were either two things
a puppet
or a royal
puppets were used for entertainment
while royal's watched in amusement
the best puppets were shown to the world on the biggest stages
the worst were thrown into scrap pit, never to be seen again
kuroiro was a king
a high ranking king of darkness
he owned 20 kingdoms and he ruled them with an iron fist
he lived for entertainment
but through the millions of puppets, he was never captivated by one
except for tonight
claps echoed around the room as the curtains raised and the music began
the show was said to host the worlds most talented puppet dancer in the world
kuroiro was ready to close his eyes in boredom before his eyes seemed to lock on the beauty of this puppet
his head represented the bird that was a raven, he wore a back swan ballet dress with purple and silver sequins, he also wore flat feathered shoes and tights
his head was adorned with a black crown designed with thorns
but was captivated kuroiro the most was his glowing red eyes and graceful movements
he made no noise and was as swift as a feather in the wind
for 30 minutes kuroiro made no noise and barely moved, staring intensely at the dancing raven like he was being hypnotised
the show ended before kuroiro knew it
he found himself clapping more intensely then he had ever done in his life
he rushed to find where the mysterious dancer was
only to find him being scolded by his "owner", these types of royals were like deputies in charge of a ranch
"what were you doing songbird, you Arabesqued when you should have Assembléd" she shouted angrily
the man was about to hit the raven before kuroiro grabbed the woman's arm

"I don't see the problem, I was very entertained," the dark prince said menacingly to the woman but complementary to the dancing bird
he was more beautiful up close
"your legacy, I uh-" she began before she was cut off
"I revoke you of harbouring this angel on earth and command you to run back to the pit your crawled out of" he threatened
as he let her arms go she did as she was instructed
the dark magician sighed before turning his full attention to the reason why he was here in the first place
"Are you ok?" he asked as he came closer
the raven looked down in respect
"you don't have to do that, I just want to make sure you are ok" kuroiro explained
puppets were taught to never speak until spoken too
kuroiro hated that puppets were treated as second class citizens, that's why there were no puppets in any of his kingdomes, he had only gone to a show because he was advised he had to make an appearance outside
and he was so glad he did
"why, sir, did you do that? I am merely a simple puppet" the raven said lowly
only for his head to be raised
"There is no such thing, I see you more than just that" kuroiro stated
"But why-" the raven was about to ask before kuroiro cut him off
"I want to free you of your chains, you need no master, you need a friend, possibly more than that and...I hope to be that individual" kuroiro explained with a blush
"come with me, and I'll show you a world out of your cage," kuroiro said as he held a hand in the ravens
the raven looked behind him for a split second, looking at where his past life had kept him and then to this wonderful stranger that will give him the wings he needs to fly
"ok" as he agreed, holding kuroiro's hand tighter as they left for their new future

8 135A Merchants Tale
Legends rise. Country’s fall. Empires wage war. But what supports these great powers, allowing them to function as a single organism. Is it the common man, Farmers and Millers forming the backbone of the land? The Soldiers and Guards keeping public order? The Wives and Widows supporting from the side-lines? The Nobles from their seats of power? Or the elusive Sorcerers who wield power untold? And what maggots crawl in this great creature, all trying to get a piece of its slowly decaying flesh. The gangs of the Underworld hidden in the shadows? The Bandits and Deserters hiding at the edges, ready to pounce on any weakness? Witches and Warlocks working their dark art? Or other Nations clawing at their neighbour’s, salivating over the riches they stand to gain from another’s demise. There is one group that belongs to neither group. They thrive on others misfortune and bring with them salvation and destruction in equal measure. They can raise a kingdom up or tear it down screaming and kicking. These are the merchants, the lifeblood of kingdoms, because what is the one thing above all else men crave. Is it Love? Power? Destruction? All these things can be acquired with one simple thing. Wealth. Wealth is the true power behind the world. Wealth can buy army’s, strangle kingdoms, and turn even the most devout man from his faith. Merchants come in many forms, shapes and sized, some gaudy, bleeding the people for all their worth, some tricky, preferring to make contracts and debts to trap men. And some desperate, doing all they can to sell even the most worthless of junk. This is a story of one merchant who goes against all a merchant stands for. He works not for profit but for some unseen goal, a prophesy aeons old. He comes and goes like a ghost, bringing with him hope and victory. All pray for his arrival to spare them from despair. But what about when he doesn’t show? What about the people he doesn’t save? For this man is no angel, no saint sent to save the masses. His goal was never to deliver hope. It merely isn’t time for their destruction yet. For nothing is eternal. And all things must end. But what comes after? Quick disclaimer in response to the review I got, this is my first story and somewhat of an experiment for me, hopefully my writing will get better the more I practice. Thanks for any helpful advice :)
8 65Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.

8 101Songs of Legacies: Ties
Ties follows the stories of certain groups of individuals. In these groups are key people who have gained memories of a past life, and these key people will use their knowledge to better or worsen the world of their second chance at life without the knowledge of a greater power, much greater than any could imagine, working behind them. Additional tags: Military WordPress Page: https://songsoflegacies.wordpress.com/ties/ Note: the entire Bootcamp is a prologue and worldbuilding arc. Don't skip it if you don't want confusion in the later arcs and chapters. Campaign is the first primary arc, and will be followed by the Conquest, Uprising, and Revelation arcs. At the end will be an epilogue arc (where its name is still being thought up by me).
