Keigo didn't want a new baby brother
his life was already bad as it is
he was just 7 years old and he was living in poverty
food was scarce and adding another mouth to feed was pointless
his mother and father already neglected him so why would they add another child to the mix?
a baby was expensive, and Keigo knew they didn't have enough money for it
he heard his mother scream
but it wasn't the types of screams the little boy was used to
he had witnessed murder
he had killed
he had done everything needed to survive
and he wouldn't be killed off by this new baby's needs
the screams soon stopped
and now crying was being replaced
it was annoying
and it was endless
Keigo had just had enough
if this new brat wasn't going to shut up then he would make him
opening the door to the room where the birthing ritual began he entered with the full intent of hurting the newborn
the walls were barren and the floor was covered in empty bottles of beers, some shattered, spreading glass everywhere
it was far from perfect, but it was what Keigo had to deal with
in the middle blood from his mother also covered the floor
she was sleeping soundly after the amount of effort and pain she had just endured
not that he cared
she didn't care about him
she was merely obligated to take "care" of him since he was her son
the quirk less woman merely kept him close at night for warmth and protection
once Keigo had obtained his quirk she became much more interested
seeing they were basically knives in shapes of feathers
she used him as a human shield
against trespassers like criminals and many types of thugs
but also against the harsh elements that came with living in a rough environment

the only reward he got for his efforts
were an endeavour doll
it wasn't food or water
but it was something that he could use to comfort himself when things got extremely tough
and in no way in hell was he sharing this small comfort with this...thing
the creature was still crying loudly and annoyingly
shaking movements could be seen in the medium-sized box next to his mother
with a scowl and a fist clenched he readied his attack to shut it up
Keigo walked slowly and menacingly towards it
hatred towards this thing was almost as strong as his hatred for his father
once he had found out his mother was pregnant he practically leapt out the window, stating "it would get too crowded and that they were on their own"
he didn't try to bring Keigo along, he left them here in this pit with them
the only thing he would have to thank him for was having a bird quirk which he had inherited from, whilst his father had feathered hair and bird legs, whilst Keigo was blessed with beautiful red knife-like wings
but even though they shared similar traits, the only reason he came back today was that he was obligated to deliver his other son
he didn't even acknowledge his presence
simply passing by him like he was nothing
he locked the door behind him as his mother's contractions started
but by the looks of it with, no sign of his father in the room, he had run away once again
only Keigo knew it was for good this time
part of Keigo hoped that was the case
but another part wished he would come back, so he could punish him for all he did
more desperate crying took him out his thoughts
it was so loud!
Keigo was just a few steps away from what he intended to do

as he walked closer with a fist ready
the thing was now in his sight
Keigo stopped
the baby had the body of a normal child
but his head was something to behold
it represented the animal that went by the name of raven
black fluffy feathers covered the entirety of his face
a beak opened wide that allowed cries of agony fill the walls
Keigo shook his head
he didn't care, he.didn't.care! he repeated in his head
a shaky fist raised back into the air
he needed to shut it up, it would alert bad guys or even villains
Keigo was ready to make an impact with his fist to its beak
but before he could
the babies eyes opened to look at him
it seemed the red orbs could see into Keigo's soul
the eyes were so big compared to his tiny body
so much innocence and wonder was filled in those glossy blood red eyes
the creature's sobbing stopped as those beautiful eyes made contact with Keigo's golden
Keigo couldn't do it, he just couldn't
as he was about to retract his fist of misplaced anger
a force stopped them as contact was made
the tiny raven's fingers were loosely grabbing onto Keigo's
Keigo stared at the child with surprise wondering what was going on in its head
the baby babbled in full interest, like Keigo's hands were the most interesting things in the world
Keigo felt himself melt to the floor, happily content with the child discovering his hand
it was only a few minutes before the baby stopped playing with the red-winged boy's fingers and looked at him expectantly
"I don't know what you expect of me buddy" Keigo couldn't help but laugh, this little creature had his head cocked in a confused position just like what his head represented
the baby held it's arms up to Keigo
the little boy knew exactly what the raven wanted
complying he lifted the child out of the dirty box and into his own arms
as the baby wrapped its arms around the winged boy's neck he couldn't help but worry of how tiny this little thing was
its bones were as thin as the bird they represented and the small black fluffy blanket that was the only creatures covering of his decently hung so thinly
such a tiny thing would never survive on its own, Keigo decided
keigo's arms began to get tired, so to ease them he placed the child in his lap as he sat crossed legged, wings spread around them to protect them from anything that wanted to cause them harm
the little raven looked up at with him
and smiled
Keigo couldn't help but cry
that little smile was the definition of pure
the only pureness he had ever experienced in this dark and horrible world
Keigo made an oath to protect that pureness
"it's ok little buddy, I'm Keigo, your new big brother, and I'll always be here to protect you" he reassured the little raven, stroking his feathers, they were so extremely soft, but oh so delicate Keigo knew
he looked to his still unconscious mother
he knew she wouldn't take care of him properly
the only way Keigo survived was because he had two people looking over him until they deemed him able to make decisions for himself,
5 he was
she was hopeless and wouldn't be able to provide what his little brother needed
so from now on
whatever his baby brother needed
Keigo would make sure to provide
and what he needed now was a name
Keigo pondered hard
to survive this world, this little guy needed a tough and powerful name
something as powerful as the darkness that surrounded them
how the night seemed eternal in this world
he would keep this child's pureness safe from shadows that haunted them
"Welcome to the world fumikage tokoyami, it sucks, but I'll try and make it barrable" Keigo laughed as he hugged the raven closer
tokoyami laughed sweetly as he reached out to keigo's giant red feathers
(so adorable) Keigo sighed happily
he didn't care what he needed nor had to do
he would protect his new baby brother
no matter what the cost
