"fumikage!" a new voice called out
the lessons of the day had finally finished
and the gothic group of the class had planned to go out to eat
that was before a new voice called out to the raven head
a yellow blur came towards the group and crashed straight into tokoyami
causing him to tumble to the floor
"tokoyami?" Jiro asked in confusion
the named raven head groaned as he rubbed his head
opening his eyes he was met face to face with a familiar face
"oumu?" tokoyami asked in astonishment
the named oumu was a typical blond teenager with green eyes. he towered over the raven by two heads, instead of arms he had two yellow feathered wings and had a big grin
"oumu!" tokoyami yelled louder as he hugged the blond, the cockatoo like boy returning the embrace with a chuckle
an awkward cough was heard, making the two split apart
"um, toko, who is this ?" Jiro laughed sheepishly
"oh!" tokoyami exclaimed, remembering he never actually told anyone of his childhood friend
"shoji, Jiro this is oumu, my childhood friend, oumu this is Jiro and shoji, my high school friends and teammates" tokoyami explained happily
"pleased to meet ya" the cockatoo greeted happily while Jiro and shoji greeted him happily with a handshake
"what are you doing here?" tokoyami asked with wonder
"well, I finally got some free time from the academy of flight and I heard you were in town so I thought I'd surprise you, to try and catch up" oumu stated happily before becoming slightly sad
"but I probably should have told you before I sprung up, I should have suspected you had plans," the blond said sheepishly
both Jiro and shoji could see the longing in the eyes of each other, that they wanted a chance to get to catch up

"well we are perfectly capable of keeping ourselves occupied so you two can go and catch up," shoji said, giving tokoyami a little push of encouragement
"Are you sure?" tokoyami asked, taking one last look at his friends
"of course, go and have some fun," Jiro said happily
and with the reassurance tokoyami and oumu entered the sky and flew away
leaving two very jealous friends behind
although if the heard the things the two birds wanted to do together
they probably are more confused than jealous
the two entered the woods and begun the rituals they would do as kids
whistling and making bird calls on top of their favourite treetops
and talked about what they have been doing in the past years and laughing and inside jokes
"ha, you still can't preen yourself" oumu laughed as he preened tokoyami's feathers
"oh let's see how you fair with feathers on the back of your head instead of your arms, then you shall know my pain" tokoyami said in mock outrage
oumu sighed in happiness
"I missed this fumi," the cockatoo said in nostalgia
"same, we need to meet up more" tokoyami responded with happiness
"that's...kinda what I want to talk to you about," oumu said with a sigh
oumu began to tell tokoyami about his offer or become fully-fledged winged police of the sky, he didn't want to be a hero like tokoyami, his wings were too delicate to do any hard hero work, but being police was a close second
but to do that he would be out of state
"what I'm trying to say is...this might be the last time we could meet face to face since I'll be really busy with police work and you have your internship with a fellow bird hawks, not to mention you'll start to get very busy with hero work....so I just wanted to give you a proper goodbye," the cockatoo said sadly
but was cut off with another sudden hug
"I'll miss you my friend" tokoyami admitted
"heh, I'll miss you too," oumu said returning the embrace
instead of dreading on the future
they instead continued to enjoy each others company while they still had the chance
no matter how far away they were
friends were forever
