we all have a mask that we use to hide us away from others 

we use these because we are afraid of what people would think if we showed the real us 

even with our closest friends 

but when we take off those masks 

we are always surprised by what those reactions are 

tokoyami was in the bathroom, getting herself ready for another day 

another day of secrets and un-comfort 

she always said that she would tell her friends 

but she was too afraid 

every time she found the courage she would once again be reminded of her past 

so maybe it was a good thing that option was taken out of her hands 

"hey tokoyami, what's that on the back of your head?" asked a curious midoriya 

they were in the main room watching a movie and midoriya had moved to get a snack 

only for his eyes to be drawn to the back of tokoyami's head where two yellow straps 

making tokoyami jump out of his skin, while internally beating herself up that she forgot to hide the straps in her hair 

"Nothing!" she stated, trying to hide the straps 

only for her outburst to draw more attention then she wanted 

"you know when you say that, it always means that it isn't nothing," mina said, getting up to see what was up 

 tokoyami tried to walk away to get out of the predicament only for asui's tongue to wrap around her waist, reeling her back and for everyone else to see what was the big fuss

"they look like straps" Jiro stated 

"I knew it was a mask, I knew it" shouted a very smug kiminari 

"Can we see you're facing, please" hagukura begged 

"ugh fine!" tokoyami yelled, annoyed with the questions and pestering

(they've found me out, may as well give them what they want) she said as she unclipped her mask 

and as she faced her classmates with a new face 

causing gasps of shock and awe 

she had long black hair that flowed down to her waist and had two bright blue eyes 

"your a girl!" asked a shocked sero 

"yes," a low but much softer and higher voice said, coming out of tokoyami's lips 

the class shouting things like"your voice" and "you're eyes"

"my mask has a voice machine and eye manipulator" tokoyami said, turning the mask around in her hands 

but then came the one very annoying and weird question "if you're a girl why don't you have boo-" which was soon cut of with a smack to the head 

tokoyami sighed and answered "I used wraps to blend in with my body" 

making all the girls gasp and march over to tokoyami 

"you can't do that! it's dangerous!" occasion stated worriedly yet angrily 

tokoyami's wrist was grabbed by mina and pulled along as they went to the girl's dorms 

"where are we going?" tokoyami asked worriedly 

"getting you out of those wraps and into better support" mina yelled 

it was only a few minutes until they were back down 

and the only thing that people could stare at was her chest 

"How could you hide those, their giant!" yelled Minetta, drool pooling out of his mouth 

"stop it!" tokoyami shouted, kicking the drool machine away, trying to hide her breasts and began to put the mask back on 

all students starting to feel guilty of their actions

"tokoyami we are so sorry, this must be a lot for you," shoji said, patting tokoyami's shoulder 

"all of your reactions, it just, it's just the same" tokoyami said, tears starting to form 

"what do you mean?" momo asked worriedly 

"I was never taken seriously, in my home town no one believed I could be a hero, just because I was a girl, I obviously know it's not the same for you girls but, I was always told no about certain things, no to the sport, because I always had to be pretty and sit like an obedient doll, and wear frilly dresses, always being told I would be a beautiful wife and mother, no one ever asked me what I wanted, I wanted to be a hero" tokoyami ranted before finishing of her story 

"so I created my mask and escaped, living with my great aunt who was the only one that wanted to head what I had to say, I wanted to tell you, but I was afraid that you would treat me different, like you are" sighed tokoyami, burying her head into her knees 

if the students of 1-A weren't feeling guilty before, they sure were now 

everyone hugged tokoyami in a big group hug 

"we're so sorry tokoyami, we reacted so poorly," momo said, tears in her eyes 

"We are surprised, but we won't treat you any differently," kirishma said hugging her tighter 

"We don't care if you're boy-girl or other, just be you and we will always respect and love you no matter what," shoji said determinedly 

"unless of course, you turn into a villain," sero said 

earning a very rewarding laugh from their friend in need 

"thank you all" tokoyami said happily 

the next day 

tokoyami continued to wear her mask but two things were quite different 

one she was now wearing a supportive bra, making her much more comfortable 

and her true eye colours were now showing instead of the fake red 

she continued to use her voice box and style her hair like feathers 

but it was a start 

and most importantly it made tokoyami feel happy and normal 

because no-body pointed it out 

and tokoyami couldn't be any more grateful
