shoji didn't believe he would have seen his beloved again
his tears falling in memory of what life's happiness was
the water falling on the floor as flashbacks entered his mind
shoji was working hard alone in his workshop
at that time he was an apprentice, his father, his only family member was in bed, getting sick with every passing day
they had tried everything to heal his ailments, yet nothing worked
and he would soon have to prepare for the upcoming loss
he was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he didn't notice a stranger that had just come into their shop
"excuss me," said a dark yet gentle voice
he looked up to the stranger
but was taken back, a wave of emotions making him stagger back in shock
a boy with a raven head and two piercing red eyes and a long flowing cape along with two long looked in wait
his red orbs meeting his own
"oh..sorry...is there anything I can help you with?" shoji stuttered, shaking his head to get out of his thoughts
"no, I have actually come to offer some of my help to you" his luxurious voice spoke once again
shoji would have stood there in awe of his curiosity didn't get the better of him
"what do you mean, who are you?" shoji asked in confusion and anticipation
"my name is tokoyami fumikage, and I have heard that your fathers have fallen deathly sick, but I come with a solution to help him become well again" tokoyami explained
shoji sighed, he wanted to believe this beautiful healer, but he had given up hope along time ago
"thank you, but there is nothing to do, it is only a matter of minutes before he passes" shoji sighed

but instead of leaving as shoji expected, he felt a hand clasp around one of his own
"do not give up faith, I have been told I have a gift," tokoyami said sweetly, looking up to shoji
shoji wanted to believe, but he was always met with disappointment
"if you could show me to your father, I am sure I can mend your broken faith," tokoyami said
shoji decided that it was worth a shot, it isn't like he could make matters worse
and so shoji showed the raven head to his father's bedside
he had no visible quirk unlike his son, he was quirkless, it was a mother who had passed down the quirk, but she had died during childbirth
he had not been the best father, he gambled and drank, but he was all shoji had, taught him all he needed to be a successful blacksmith
and as he watched the stranger place his hands on the man's chest
his faith and spirit was taken back with surprise as his chest began to glow a brilliant purple
and was taken back once again as the beautiful began to sing, making them glow even brighter
It was enchanting
it was breathtaking
and it was soon done
shoji's father seemed to fly out of bed
the death and misery once covering the room was gone
"father!" shoji exclaimed as he hugged his old man
"shoji" the man began hesitantly
"I thought I was a goner, what did you do," he asked
"It was not me father, this medical of a man healed you," shoji said as he pointed to the raven head, looking at the two men in satisfaction
"ah, thank you, I owe my life to you, you truly have a gift, we must give you something in return" the man rambled in humbleness, but tokoyami's hand stopped him from leaving the room

"I cannot accept any goods, your thanks are more than enough" tokoyami said
and thus began to leave
while shoji's father was jumping around the room in glee
shoji himself was running after the enchanter
"wait" shoji yelled, making the boy stop before he escaped into the woods
"I know you wouldn't accept any reward, but this can't be the last time that I will ever see you" shoji panted, trying to catch his breath
"then meet me at the graveyard at midnight, I to wish to want to learn more about the boy who would chase me to the haunted woods" tokoyami smirked as he left
leaving shoji staring after the mystery man
"I'll be there" shoji muttered
and it wasn't the last time
shoji had met tokoyami in the graveyard
in which that one meeting under the stars
soon turned into more and more memorable moments that they spent together
under the stars, they danced together
sung together
ate together
and tonight, after a wonderful month of enchantment
shoji would share his love with the midnight beauty
but little did he know his night of confessions
would soon take a darker turn
people around the village had heard of the wonderful healing powers that had healed shoji's father, astounded they soon started to follow shoji on his journey to meet with his bird-headed healer
many wanted it all to themselves
and tonight, after weeks of planning, they were ready
shoji held a single rose in one of his many arms
his beloved in his sight
a smile is hidden behind his mask
"tokoyami" shoji began, reaching to his dark twilight
"yes, shoji" tokoyami asked
"I-" shoji tried to say
but the roaring of excited villagers soon ruined their moment
torches blazing red-orange and yellow burning brightly in the distance, but coming closer
"give us the witch" and "hand us the healer now" were heard within the wood
shoji held tokoyami close, in fear of his beloved being taken away and ran
the villagers soon ran after them, holding the torches high as they charged
but in their hurry, they didn't notice the low hanging branches
catching ablaze
and joined the chase
smoke covering the woods
clearing out fearful villagers
but as the two were almost in the clear
broken and burnt branches started to fall
shoji didn't notice it
but tokoyami did
tokoyami pushed shoji to the side, and into freedom
while tokoyami remained trapped in the burning woods
"TOKOYAMI!" shoji cried as he tried to rush back into the woods
but bigger and blazing branches began to crash down, blocking shoji's path
"no no no no" shoji cried as he tried to move the branches, burning his hands and arms, but they refused to budge
"shoji" a familiar but weak voice called out
"tokoyami, oh no, it can't end like this!" shoji cried out
"I'm sorry I didn't get chance to say this before" tokoyami's voice continued
"no, I'll get you out, I'll...I-" shoji blubbered
"I love you shoji," tokoyami said
taking shoji back in shock
"I, I love you too, so much," shoji said defeatedly
and that was their last words to each other as an explosion of fire sent shoji's body flying back
"NOOOOOOO" shoji cried
he continued to shout his love's name
but he was met with no response
shoji stayed there in pain, curled into a ball, crying,
he had nothing
nothing to remember his fallen love
not even the rose that he was ready to give
but that was when he saw it
past the row of awestruck students
as he spotted his ghostly love
holding his proposing rose in hand
he cried in happiness that although he only had memories remember him
he had something of his that he still held close
even in death
love is forever
"beautiful"

Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.
