tokoyami didn't have what people would call a "happy childhood"

after his parents were taken away to prison

he was put into a foster home

and although he didn't mind the other children ignoring him, having their own issues to sort out

there was something that scared him straight to his core, even to this day

a large and cruel woman who worked in the foster home

miss Hide

she hated mutation quirks

so any chance she got to make his life more miserable

she would take it

her favourite type of torture she would inflict was the muzzle

she specialised it just for her favourite victim so it would fit around his beak

she would call him a "disgusting animal" a "wingless pest"

and she would lock him in a cage

the other foster staff didn't know about this as miss hidoi would always treat him differently in front of them

pretending to be friendly when she was thinking oh so different thoughts in her head

it wasn't until he became 16 and U.A had given him dorms did he finally get to leave the hell hole and gave him a chance to be free forever

while packing up his belongings in his bright room

(although he was allowed to personalise his room, he was threatened to keep the lights on at the brightest they could be)

the dreaded woman stood silently behind him, an evil smirk on her lips

"so, the birds finally leaving the nest," she said

it would have surprised tokoyami before, but he was used to it

but yet his body still shook

"yes" he stated, closing his suitcase

"now, you better be grateful for the amount of effort we put into you, you only got in because of us" she continued

now tokoyami would usually just agree and let her continue her digs

but today he felt different

more confident, less scared

"nothing...you did...was to benefit me" tokoyami replied shakily

"what did you just say you ungrateful little rat," she asked surprised coming closer with something behind her back

"ever since I got here, you made my life miserable, you are a cruel horrible woman, and I will make sure that you're boss knows and fires you" tokoyami was on a roll, he turned around to her pointing at her accusingly

"and make sure that more children like me never have to meet such a petty and spiteful monster" he finished as he took his suitcase and began to walk out his no-longer room

"you dirty disgusting" she began to say as she pulled the handcrafted muzzle from her back, lunging at the boy in an attempt to tie it around his face

but he wasn't a scared little boy anymore

a shadowy claw pushed her off and ripped the muzzle into smithereens

"thank you for the evidence, at least you did one good thing for me," tokoyami said lowly as he took a recording camera from it's hiding place, it had recorded everything ever since he turned 9

"the next time you see me," he said as he approached the trembling woman

"you better hope I don't remember you" he finished as he walked out of the room

and towards where his true family were
