《The tokoyamiverse》asui x tokoyami

it was a wet autumn afternoon
and usually when it is pouring it down and the weather is too cold for ice cream then you would expect everyone to be inside their houses by the fireplace drinking hot beverages and eating warm food
however, for two individuals this was not the case
what turned into a stroll in the woods soon turned into camping in a cave waiting for the weather to ease of
but when the lightning and thunder began
they knew it would be a while before they could leave
"thank destiny I brought something to eat, it looks like it's not going to ease off for some time" commented tokoyami as he rummaged through his rucksack
bringing out two apple cereal bars
"ribbit" Asui responded weakly
as a frog, she did not do well cold conditions
"oh, sorry, here" tokoyami apologised as he left the snacks for one second, taking off his hoodie and wrapping it around asui's body
"but won't you be cold," she asked worriedly, heat coming back to her
"I'll be fine" tokoyami stated as he gave her one of the snacks
it seemed as if the temperature was getting colder
but that was not the only noticeable thing
at least to asui anyway
while she was wrapped warmly in tokoyami's hoodie (which yes made her blush slightly by how caring and compassionate he was being) it seemed as if he had his own way of staying warm
"why do your feathers poof up the lower the temperature goes," she asked
"oh" he exclaimed surprisingly
"well, um, you see" he stuttered before his quirk intervened
"it's so he stays warm, his feathers poof to conserve more heat," he said before he left back into the body
"that is adorable, ribbit," she said happily

tokoyami turned in embarrassment, although responding her comment with a thank you
there was a moment of silence before asui asked
"but that only means that your head's warm, what about the rest of your body ?" she asked
"it's fine" he responded reassuringly, also muttering that even though it was stormy outside the cave it was still too bright to try and use dark shadow as a faster way to get home, especially with the lightning still occurring
"tokoyami," she said a bit more sternly
making the said raven headed boy turn to face the frog quirked girl
"come over here," she said, slightly sternly
he slowly did as he was instructed
when he was close enough asui grabbed him by the arm and dragged him into her arms
"your arms are freezing" she commented
tokoyami blushed in this predicament
but he knew that she wasn't going to let him go until he was no longer "freezing"
so instead of fighting, got himself situated within the situation
in the end, they ended up in an awkward hug
to the eye, it looked uncomfortable
but to the two
it was heavenly
it was silent
but the pleasant kind
they were drifting to sleep slightly
but the sound of the rain no longer thudding at the floor made itself noticeable
the two unravelled themselves from the hug
tokoyami grabbing his backpack and walked out into the fresh clean wilderness
"you know" began asui,
"We never finished our walk" she finished, grabbing tokoyami's hand, him giving hers a gentle squeeze in acceptance
"hey, asui" tokoyami" began
"yes tokoyami," she said
"you know how you say I can call you that, asui," he asked
"yes," she asked
"you can call me by my first name to if you like" he blushed
"Ok" she began happily
"fumikage, ribbit"

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5
