"Holy Turtle, please have mercy on me."
"I knew you were weak but I didn't expect for you to be weak." Bakugo commented on the girl's recent performance. He stood next to her as she bent over with her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath. "I already told you, White Hare. You're not cut out for this."
It was the end of most of the tests. The white haired girl had a bit of trouble overcoming them as one might say. It was now Midoriya's turn with his ball throw.
Lily stretched her back, causing a groan to escape from her mouth. "I just need to get used to this, give me a break." The blond just rolled his eyes, definitely doubting her.
"I may not be athletic."
"Well? You gonna finish that sentence?!"
"That's it."
The blond sighed in annoyance, smacking his palm against his forehead. "Why did I even bother to expect anything or even the thought of listening to you?"
As the girl said herself, she isn't exactly the athletic type. She's an introvert and spends her time locked up in her room writing new chapters for her stories. This is the actual first time that she is training her quirk for real.
They then turned their attention to the green haired boy standing inside of the circle that's marked on the field, the ball resting in his palm. He seems to be hesitating and he looks quite nervous just for throwing a ball.
"It doesn't look good for Midoriya if he continues like this." The blue haired boy with glasses, that introduced himself as Iida earlier, spoke as he stood beside the blond boy. The rest of the class observed, waiting for the green haired boy to take the throw.
"Well duh, of course not." Bakugo sighed in annoyance before starting. "He's a quirkless small fry, you know." He pointed at the said boy as his eyebrows furrowed.
The blue haired boy was taken aback by the other boy's words. "Quirkless?!" He gasped. "Are you not aware of what he did in the entrance exam?"
Lily positioned her hands behind her back, averting her eyes as she listens to their conversation. There are a lot of mysteries behind that subject. She still doesn't know what happened in the entrance exam, what quirk her friend has gotten, or even how he got it. She only knows so little information. What have they seen and she hasn't?
Midoriya hasn't even introduced his other friends to her. She doesn't even know how they met or when they even became close to him.
Is her best friend possibly hiding something?
That's probably not the case. At least, that's what she believed.
But of course, she respects his boundaries. She isn't a creep who's always prying into people's personal lives after all. That is just not her.
Well no matter what, she's happy for her friend. He's making his dream come true, and she supports that. She'll just have to talk to her friend later when they have time.
"Heh?!" The blond raised an eyebrow, clearly confused by Iida's response. Guess it's safe to say he's as clueless as her.
Lily observed Midoriya's recent actions. It looks like he's trying to calm himself down a bit, almost as if he was hesitating because he's scared of his own quirk. Many theories came rushing into her mind. What if the boy had a quirk all along but was too afraid to say anything because he might hurt someone? What if he can't control it that's why he never uses it?
What if he was hurting himself when he does use his quirk? Panic quickly rose in her body like a worried mother.
The green haired boy readied himself to pitch. The white haired girl watched, silently cheering for her friend. "Tch." Bakugo rolled his eyes, absolutely not impressed, expecting nothing special at all from him. "Why can't he just get it over with?! Nothing's gonna happen amazing anyway, that's for sure."
Reeling to throw the ball, he finally launched it with all his might.
"." Unexpectedly, the ball only went a handful of meters from the circle. The students went silent, they weren't expecting that at all.
"As expected of the pro hero Eraser Head..!" Lily marveled at the said hero who is using his quirk to erase the boy's quirk.
"NEEEERD." Bakugo said in a loud voice just so the girl could hear him. Of course, why wouldn't he make it obvious?
"Eraser? I don't know him." One of the students said. "He's an underground hero."
"It looks like he received some advice." Iida commented, rubbing his chin. The blond boy placed his hands on his hips. "Probably just telling him he's expelled."
"Kacchan..!" The white haired girl immediately turned her head to the boy after what she just heard. "Don't say that."
"Whatever. Don't get mad at me when they prove that I'm right." Bakugo replied, giving her the side-eye.
After talking with her good friend Bakugo, Lily couldn't help but feel like a person's eyes are looking at her. She glanced at the other students, observing each of their behavior.
She then noticed a yellow haired boy. When the two of them met eyes, he immediately averted his gaze. It also looks like he's a bit red for some reason.
She didn't exactly understand what happened, so she just turned her attention back to Midoriya.
After a short moment, the boy threw the ball and it flew high up in the air. Unlike his previous throw, this one had more force.
Lily and Bakugo's eyes widened, completely shocked over what they have just witnessed. The whole class was quite surprised, some awed at his power.
""
"W-What's with that power?!" The white haired girl and the blond both said in unison, unable to process what they have just seen. This then left them frozen in place and at a loss for words.
Lily then noticed Midoriya's swollen finger as he held his hand in pain. His quirk must have done an impact on his body. She then saw him smiling as if he was proud to have his finger broken.
Is this what he does in his free time? Break his body?
She doesn't even know if she should be cheering him on right now or be confused.
Whatever just happened, the blond wasn't happy about it. "What is the meaning of this?!" He growled as explosions started to form from his hands.
Before they knew it, Bakugo quickly ran up to the green haired boy like an angry bull, looking like he wants to strangle the poor kid. "TELL ME WHAT'S GOING ON, DEKU, YOU BASTARD!"
Midoriya didn't know what to do. He just stood there scared while bracing for impact. "Jeez.."
Just when he was about to reach the green haired boy, the blond was immediately pulled back by some pieces of cloths, restraining him. "Don't keep on making me use my Quirk over and over."
It was their homeroom teacher keeping the blasty blond at bay. "I have dry eye."

After knowing that his student is under control, at least for now, he let him go and retrieved the pieces of cloths he used on him. "We're wasting time. Whoever is next, hurry up and get ready."
Once he got the chance, Midoriya quickly ran over to the group of students, avoiding Bakugo as he did. "You. Excuse me, dearest sir. Why didn't you tell me you had a quirk like that all along?! HEHH?!" Lily quickly ran up to him and started bombarding him with questions.
Oh, how the turns have tabled- I mean the tables have turned.
°•°•°•°•°•°
Finally, all the tests were done. Lily was exhausted and seemed like she was out of breath. She fought through the pain as the class gathered around to listen to what their homeroom teacher had to say.
"Okay, I'll tell you the results." Aizawa simply started. "The total is simply the marks you got from each test. It's a waste of time to explain verbally, so I'll show you the results all at once."
'Mood.' The girl thought to herself.
The teacher then pressed a button on his device, causing a hologram to pop up. It showed all of the students' scores. Each one of them quickly searched for their names.
""
Lily let out a sigh of relief. It's not exactly that high, but it's not that low either. "I guess it shall suffice for now." This motivated her to get better and stronger. Seeing her recent progress, she knows that she still has a long way to go.
After seeing her own total score, she scanned through the names to see who was in last place. It was quite fortunate for her, but it was quite unfortunate for her friend. Midoriya's name was in last place.
She turned to her friend who looked like he was almost on the verge of tears. "Izu..? Art thou alright?"
The boy held his hand in pain, quite disappointed in himself. "Don't worry, it's going to be alright." The white haired girl said, placing her hand on his shoulder before giving it a reassuring pat.
"Aaaaand, I was lying. Nobody's going home."
...
This left almost the whole class surprised.
"That was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it your all in the tests." Aizawa announced, giving a unique smile.
"WHATTT?!!" The students yelled.
"See? What did I tell you?" The white haired girl said, elegantly placing her hands behind her back. She seems to have known this information all along.
"Of course that was a lie." A girl with a black ponytail spoke. She must be the intelligent girl who got officially recommended, Momo Yaoyorozu. "It should've been obvious if you just thought it through."
But it seemed like the other students didn't notice.
"With that, we're done here." Their homeroom teacher stated. "There are handouts with curriculum and such in the classroom." He continued as he walked away.
That was that and the students changed back into their normal uniforms. Most of the students were already in the classroom, ready to head home.
"Izu." Lily walked up to the boy who was sloppily packing up his belongings. "Ah, Lily! Y-Yes?" The boy responded. Looking at his friend's face, he is unsure if she was mad or if it's just her natural expression.
"Ooh, is that a new hairstyle? It looks good on you!" he exclaimed as if he was trying to get out of trouble or something close to that.
'So, you finally noticed.'
She mentally sighed but she couldn't blame him. He was busy all day, occupied with his new friends and challenges. Many things were happening all at once.
"I still have a lot of questions. But since I know you're tired, I'll ask you once we have the time." She said, swinging her bag over her shoulder. She understands that this day was quite tough on him already. "Is your finger healed?"
"Oh! Yes. Thanks to Recovery Girl." He answered, showing his finger, which is now wrapped in bandages, to her. "That's nice to know."
"So. You want to go home like the old times?"
"Yeah. Like the old times."
The two agreed to the girl's suggestion. Once Midoriya was done packing up, the both of them walked out of the building and headed home together side by side.
"Ah, I'm so tired." The boy groaned, slouching his back as he walked. "Make sure to rest well once you get home." Lily instructed, hands behind her back. "Also drink lots of water. Stay hydrated."
"Yes ma'am." The green haired boy replied before chuckling. "But it's pretty nice to see you trying to open up yourself, Lily."
"You think so? Than--"
"I-Iida!" A hand suddenly placed itself on Midoriya's shoulder, catching his attention and interrupting the girl.
"Is your finger healed?" The taller student asked as he began a conversation with the other male student as if Lily wasn't even there.
"Hey! You two!" A brunette with short hair suddenly called out to them as she ran in their direction. There were clearly 3 of them there. Guess she somehow didn't notice the other girl that was walking with them.
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka." She introduced herself once she caught up with them. "You're Iida Tenya," she said, recalling the boy with blue hair. "Oh! And you are..." She then finally noticed the white haired girl that was standing next to Midoriya.
For some reason, she can't seem to recall her name, making it a bit awkward. "This is Lily! She's my childhood friend." The green haired boy introduced the girl to the brunette.
Lily couldn't really handle the awkwardness in the air. She also felt out of place, that's why she has made her decision to go home by herself. "I'm heading off first, Izu. Farewell." She said with a monotone voice, heading home by herself in a hurried manner.
She didn't even bother taking a glimpse at them. She just quickly left.
"Ah! L-Lily!" Her friend called out to her, but she didn't stop.

"Pardon me for the intrusion but, do you guys have any new volumes of the series 'Mifune-sama: Romance Hostility'?"
"Oh, yes we do have that. You can find that on shelf three." The staff member answered as she pointed in the direction of the said bookshelf.
"I thank thee." The white haired girl thanked the staff member before heading to the 3rd shelf.
While heading home by herself, Lily decided to stop at a manga store that she mainly visits to see if they have any new volumes of the anime she enjoys. 'Cause, why not?
All of the shelves were filled with many different kinds of mangas. Each row was painted with colorful covers. All of the books are sealed properly and neatly. It's like heaven for otakus.
She then stood in front of the romance section of the third shelf and started scanning for the series she came for.
"Mifune..Mifune..aha..!" The girl's eyes sparkled as she saw two new volumes. She successfully reached for the two books and are now laying safely in her hands.
Just seeing the beautiful covers of the mangas brings her joy. It doesn't quite show on her face but at least she's got the spirit.
Since she's already here, she thought of looking around for a bit to see if there's any manga that piques her interest.
As she looked around, she saw something black at the corner of her eye. Checking it out, she was a bit surprised by what she has discovered. Or rather, who she has discovered.
"Oh, it's you..!"
"Ah, so you're here as well."
She saw one of her classmates in the same store as her. It was the guy that picked up her notebook, the one with the crow head. He was seen standing in front of the horror manga section. It seems that he had the same plan as her to buy some manga before heading home.
"I believe we haven't done a proper introduction yet." He started, facing her to have a conversation. "Let me introduce myself. My name is Fumikage Tokoyami, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Hajimemashite. I'm Lily Yane." After introducing themselves to one another, there has been a short moment of silence which made the girl a bit uncomfortable.
As said before, Lily doesn't even know the first step of conversating with a person she just met.
"What a coincidence for us to meet here, don't you agree?" Tokoyami started, pulling the girl out of this so-called awkwardness.
"Indeed, what a coincidence it is. Not gonna lie, I didn't know that you would be interested in this kind of stuff." She replied. "Ooh! What manga are you getting?" She asked, noticing the volume that laid in the boy's hand.
He held it up to eye level so she could see the cover. "I've taken a liking to the series 'Hokkaidō Oni'."
"Naruhodo." The white haired girl nodded. "I heard that the scenes are quite gory. But you do you."
"I see that you have picked out a series for yourself." The boy said once he saw the two volumes in her hands.
"Y-Yes. I just came by to see if they had any new volumes released, ehe." She averted her eyes, unable to make eye contact. "I love the effort they gave into the series."
"May I ask what genre it is?"
"I don't usually read or watch this genre but, it's a romance series." She shyly answered. "Its name is 'Mifune-sama: Romance Hostility'."
"Sounds, interesting."
"It is..! I didn't expect me to like this anime quite a bunch. It isn't just a regular boring romance anime. The story is entertaining and hilarious, and the animation is amazing..! The high level of storytelling it-it's just phenomenal..!" She explained as if giving her own review of the anime.
Tokoyami gave out a soft chuckle as he witnessed the girl's enthusiasm. "A-Ah! I apologize, I didn't mean to ramble. I must be taking a lot of your time." She covered her face in embarrassment and shame. She didn't realize that she was talking so passionately for a moment.
"No, no. I don't mind. It's quite alright. It's nice to see someone as passionate as you." The boy said.
"A-Anyways.. Shall we head to the cashier?"
"Yes. We shall."
The girl didn't expect herself to talk so much and so passionately about something she liked, especially to someone she just met. She never knew that communication skills were hiding inside of her core all this time.
But it's quite fortunate for her since it's a good step to changing her past behavior.
After paying for the mangas they wanted, the two stood outside of the store with bags in hand. "Welp, I guess this is the part where we part. It's been a pleasure meeting you, Tokoyami."
"It's been my pleasure to meet you as well, Yane."
And with that, the two went their separate ways and headed home.
It's safe to say that Lily made herself a new friend.
It made her wonder, how will the rest of her days end up for her?

Mana Soul
Like many others across the multiverse, Markus was chosen as this world's hero to fight against the steadily approaching cataclysm. Only, something went horribly wrong. Left with only a handful of memories, Markus has spent years clawing his way up from poverty and officially registered as an adventurer to try and make his fortune. Unfortunately, Artificers are the least combat-capable class of the four classes, and Markus has no connections to join an established party. With the fate of countless worlds hanging in the balance, a chance meeting will determine the course of a war nearly as old as reality itself. Warning: Markus has trauma induced amnesia and will occasionally 'act out of character' or make 'poorly thought out' decisions. These events are rather obvously telegraphed abd represent conflicts between his current personality and the one repressed alongside his trauma. Just something to bear in mind. The story will bounce predominantly back and forth between the primary protagonists every couple of chapters. The time stream is linear, so events are not revisted/rehashed/retold through the narrative format. Characters may comment on something that has occurred, but that's different. Just giving a heads up.Chapters will be around 7-9k and updated 1/week on the same schedule as my other story Ogre Tyrant over the weekend.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
