"Just get outta the way, Deku!"
"I won't let you hurt him again, Kacchan! This is wrong!"
"Oh please, just let me have my way for once. You can't even do anything about it since pretty little Lily isn't here to save you and can't get in my way anymore!"
That was the day everything fell down. The day that they realized that some things were not meant to be.
We were not born equal.
This is the harsh reality that I learnt when I was four.

"I-Izu!! Wait for- DEAR MUFFIN SLOW DOWN!!"
The white haired girl shouted as she ran to catch up with her excited friend while trying to avoid bumping into any person that's in their path. "Izu please, have mercy." She said, trying to convince the boy to stop and wait for her as she fixed her hair to avoid getting in her face.
"Hurry Lily!" The green haired boy said enthusiasticaly, running ahead of her with eyes sparkling in excitement. "I really want to see this with my own eyes!!"
The two kept running until they stopped at a crosswalk, resulting the girl to finally take a breather and stand by her friend's side. As she breathed in and out, clearly tired from all the running, the boy wasn't tired at all. In fact, he was jogging in place with a smile on his face as they both waited for the signal that will let them cross the road.
"Would you at least let me catch up to you first?" The girl asked as she huffed and puffed.
The boy gave out a chuckle, both of his hands grabbing the two straps of his backpack. "I'm really sorry Li-chan! I just don't want to miss this! I'll make sure to repay you!"
Just when the sign turned green, signaling that they are now able to cross, the boy immediately sprinted off once again. "I don't get paid enough for this.." the girl sighed as she crossed the road, following behind her friend.
It wasn't long before they finally reached their destination. The green haired boy stopped running and stood there behind the crowd of people, facing the scene with an excited look. A person as big as a giant from a storybook roared loudly as he stood there in plain sight. There's clearly something going on here.
Ever since quirks were created, fiction became reality. Around 80% of the population has some sort of super power.
You might be wondering, who are these two individuals? The green haired boy with green eyes is named Izuku Midoriya. The white haired girl with blue eyes is named Lily Yane. The two are childhood friends and apparently spend most of their time with one another. Lily has a powerful Quirk, while the other one is Quirkless.
The crowd was gathered by the distance, watching the giant. Some took their phones out and started recording or taking pictures. Some were stressed because they can't pass through and are late to their plans.
Lily managed to follow and slowly walked towards her friend's side. "Wow! What a huge villain!" Izuku said enthusiastically. "Isn't this amazing Li- OWW!!" He barked in pain, rubbing the spot on his head that got hit.
"That's for making me chase after you, you muffinhead." His friend scolded, a bit annoyed at the moment. Even though it didn't show on her face, he knew that she wasn't happy about his actions. "I-I'm really REALLY sorry, Lily-chan! I will repay you!"
He gave an apologetic bow as he faced her. "Also thank you!" She shook her head lightly and placed a hand on top of his head. "You just better make sure of it." The boy smiled and straightened his posture. The two focused their attention once again on the scene that was happening before them.

The giant roared in anger as he smashed some of the property, making a piece of a building fall from a high place aiming towards the ground. People were worried and braced for the large impact.
Just then, a hero quickly ran up to the scene. Planting his feet on the ground, he caught the falling debris with his own two bare hands. "It's Death Arms! A hero that upholds justice using his bare arms!" The people cheered.
"All right, everyone back up." A man with hose spigots in place of his hands said as he made water come out of said hose spigots, shaping the water into a barricade rail with 'X' shaped warning symbols. "Even the disaster relief specialist Backdraft has arrived!"
As the others admired the heroes and watched excitedly, Midoriya had some trouble trying to see the whole scene with his very own eyes. Other than them, there are a lot of people watching as well, resulting them to be at the back of the line.
Standing on his tippy toes and moving from side to side, the boy tried his best just to get a better view. He then looked around to see any possibilities of getting to the front of the sea of people. "The ability to transform into a monster... What a strong Quirk." One of the many people standing by said. "What did he commit?" One asked. "A robbery. He was cornered then he went berserk."
"Such a strong quirk, yet he chose to be a criminal."
Finally seeing an opening, Midoriya walked through the crowd, passing through each person with care. Lily just scratched her cheek lightly as she just followed her friend. As they were making their way to the front, a figure ran up and suddenly joined the battle.
The figure is wearing a dark blue bodysuit that includes a wooden belt, wooden knee pads, and wooden shoes.
"KYAA!! GO GET HIM KAMUI!!!" A group of fangirls cheered, seeing their idol in action. As the hero landed on the platform, the giant villain attacked by slamming his fist towards the hero. But the man was too fast, he quickly dodged it and jumped high into the air. "GO AWAY!!" The villain yelled angrily.
After lightly squishing through the path, the two students finally made their way to the front of the crowd, having a nice view of the epic battle. "Who's fighting?" Midoriya asked with a bright smile on his face.
The hero quickly used his arm like a branch of a tree to evade another one of the villain's attack. "Kamui Woods." Lily responded with a monotone voice, placing a finger on her chin. "A rising star who is gaining popularity!" Her friend continued in an amazed tone, as if they were continuing each other's sentences.
"Answering your own question, kiddo?" A man beside them spoke as he crossed his arms above his chest, starting a small conversation. The two faced the man, listening to what he has to say. "I get it! Are you an otaku?" The man asked the green haired boy with confidence.
This made the two a bit surprised by the sudden question. "Uhh n-no nothing like that.. hehe.." Midoriya just gave out a sheepish chuckle as an answer.
"A large otaku yes." Lily responded, placing both of her hands behind her back with proud closed eyes.
"Ehhh..Lily-chan..!" The green haired boy protested.
"It's true though." She said, easily shrugging him off.
Epicly landing on another platform, the hero spoke. "Illegal use of abilities during rush hour, as well as robbery and assualt?" He then prepared himself to attack. His hand balled into a fist, he stretched his hand towards the villain as he controlled his arms and enlarged into many tree branches.

Midoriya gasped as his finger pointed towards the hero. "He's using it!" He excitedly exclaimed. "Give him a huge one, Treeman!" The man beside them joined into the cheering as well. "Ganbatte.." Lily tried cheering softly, raising a fist in the air.
"Lacquered Chain Prison!" The hero chanted as wood shot out from his arm and was about to surround the enemy with it to immobilize him.
"Canyon Canon!"
Out of nowhere, a lady that is bigger than the villain swooped in and kicked him in the face before Kamui Woods could have done his super move yet. She kicked him so hard he fell on his back and couldn't stand up anymore. This left everyone surprised since they weren't expecting anyone else to join the battle at this exact moment.
A large group of men suddenly started taking pictures of the giant woman. "This is my debut, I'm Mt. Lady." The woman started introducing herself in a rather suggestive tone as she examined the body of the villain. "I'm happy to be at your service." She then turned her head and faced the crowd to give a playful wink.
"Welp, now I'm quite uncomfortable." Lily said, quite disgusted at the suggestive moment. Midoriya on the other hand, was looking around inside his backpack to find something. And I can assure you that it is not a camera.
While they were cheering for Mt. Lady, Kamui Woods was just standing still in the same spot, being confused and shocked at what just happened. "My...my effort.."
The giant woman shrunk down into her normal size to join the people. The police locked the villain up with chains and restraints. Many reporters surrounded Mt. Lady as the police took the villain away.
As for Kamui Woods...he was just on the floor questioning his life decisions.
After the whole thing, the people went back to their own tasks. Well, except for the two students. Midoriya and Lily stood in front of the huge dent from the previous battle. "Gigantification..." the green haired boy murmured to himself with a serious expression as he quickly took down notes in a notebook. "It is well-recieved and is a strong quirk. However, considering the damaged streets, its usage is limited."
Lily just stood there, trying to keep herself content as she waited for her friend to finish. "Don't blame me if we're late to school." She said, placing her hands behind her back as she kept her distance.
"Wow you're taking notes." The man from earlier joined into the conversation once again. "Are you trying to be a hero?" The man held a thumbs up and proudly spoke. "Not bad, do your best kiddos!"
Midoriya stopped writing and faced the man with a smile. "Yes! I-I will do my best!"
"I thank thee." Lily responded.

"You are all 3rd year students now." The teacher stood in front of the class as he gave his speech. "It's time for you to think about your future."
"I assume.." the man took a large breath before throwing the sheets of paper that was in his hands in the air with a proud face. "You will all pick Heroics right?" He asked happily.
"HAI!" The students excitedly answered as they showed off their own quirks. The teacher smiled. "Each of you has an excellent quirk, but it is prohibited to use in school."
Though, as the others celebrated, Lily and Midoriya weren't exactly the happiest at this moment. The two kept silent, not wanting to ruin the others' celebration.
"Sensei.." a student with blond hair suddenly spoke out loud, making everyone listen and quiet down. "don't use 'you all'. I'm not like them, who have weak perks that dwell at the bottom." He cockily said with a big smirk placed on his face as he sat with his feet on top of his desk, not giving a shit.
"GET OVER YOURSELF, BAKUGO!"
"YEAH!"
The students fought back on his words, clearly offended and annoyed by his attitude. The blond just laughed shamelessly. "Just play your role, you extras!"
This blasty blond is named Katsuki Bakugo. An overconfidence individual that wants to be the top hero. It may not seem like it, but he's actually Lily and Midoriya's childhood friend.
The reason why Lily is friends with this chaotic duo, is because they are her only friends.
"Ah, I remember Bakugo wants to get into U.A. High." The teacher announced, reading from a sheet of paper.
Everyone gasped. "'THE' U.A. High?!"
"I heard this year's deviation value is 79!"
"The competition is fierce every year."
U.A. High is a prestigious high school famous for its excellent hero training program, and this year's freshmen look especially promising.
While most of the students were gawking, Lily and Midoriya just averted their eyes, knowing that something is near. The white haired girl just covered her eyes and shook her head, not exactly wanting to deal with this right now.
"So much gawking, that's why you are all just extras!" The blond laughed before jumping on his desk as everyone just watched. If you asked me, I think he's the one being extra.
The boy smirked as he pointed to himself. "I'm the only one whose result satisfies the requirement. I SWEAR TO SURPASS ALL MIGHT AND BECOME THE STRONGEST HERO!" He proudly stated at the top of his lungs.
"Speaking of which, Midoriya also wants to go to U.A. High, right?" The teacher spoke, kicking Bakugo off his high horse and placing the attention on Midoriya. Bakugo just stayed still in disbelief as the green haired boy jolted in fear, sheepishly hiding his face. He sweated nervously as he waited for all of their reactions.
Everyone went silent and faced the boy,
before laughing out loud.
"MIDORIYA?! Are you serious?! That's impossible!"
"Being academically good is not enough for Heroics!"
Midoriya stood up as he looked around, trying to desperately convince his classmates. "No..no there's no such rules... It's just that there's no precedent."
"Would you all stop laughing, geez." Lily suddenly spoke up with a non happy tone, making the laughter quiet down. "He can be a hero even without a quirk, so would y'all kindly shut your mouths." She said while giving a 'cold' stare, defending her friend.
The students suddenly went silent before looking away. "Better not upset her, she's scary as fuck."
"Did you see that cold look at her face, talk about terrifying.."
"Yeah, she always ruins the fun.."
"This is why she doesn't have friends.."
The others started gossiping to one another about her behavior. Though, this wasn't really new to her. Lily knew this was going to happen, but she just can't let them bully her friend, especially in front of her. She knew the consequences, and yet she chose her friend over her. Midoriya looked at her, amazed. He definitely needs to thank her after this.
Unexpectedly out of nowhere, Bakugo ran up to the green haired boy's seat and used his quirk to make an explosion right in front of him. Because of that, Midoriya flew off his seat and landed on the floor. "Oi Deku!"
The boy looked at the blond in fear. "You don't even have a weak quirk, YOU'RE QUIRKLESS!" The blond stated angrily with bloodthirsty eyes, ready to beat him up. "What makes you think we're equals?!"
"W-Wait! No..hold on Kacchan." Midoriya scooted back in fear until his back reached the wall. "I d-didn't mean to compete with you..! I'm serious..!"
"This has been my goal ever since I was young. Also..." he tried talking it out with the blasty blond. "If I don't try, I'll never know..right?"
"What do you mean if you don't try?!" Bakugo raised his hands up, making smoke come out of them as he and the rest of the class glared at Midoriya. "You think it's for memorabilia's sake?!"
"Do you even have any superpowers at all?!" The green haired boy looked down, his self- confidence being drained from him.
"You're just quirkle--"
"Enough."
Lily stood up, staring at the blond right in the eyes. She has had enough. She can't just sit there and watch her friend suffer. She needs to use her words. "Kacchan, that's enough."
"Don't get in my way, White Hare." Bakugo scoffed as he rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Ah shit, here we go again."
"Please stop. Just let him be." She demanded, no smiles sighted on her face, just pure seriousness. Their classmates were left silent as they watched the two have a heated conversation with each other. "I'm just putting this quirkless Deku in his place."
"Seriously, Kacchan? Right in front of the teacher as well? Could you please have some respect for once?"
"Indeed, that is enough Bakugo." The teacher said, taking the girl's side. The blond clicked his tongue and slouched in annoyance. "Fine. FINE! Jeez, have it your way you stupid Hare." He gave one last final glare at Midoriya before stomping his way back to his seat.
"All right, now that that's settled, back to class." The man said as he grabbed a piece of chalk before writing on the blackboard. The white haired girl sighed as she walked towards the green haired boy. "Here, get up." She reached her hand out for him to grab.
He gladly accepted her help and stood up with her assistance. "Are you hurt?" She asked, retrieving her hand. "Ah, n-not really.." he replied while dusting off his uniform. "That's good." Lily sighed in relief before turning around and headed towards her seat.
"Ah..Lily-chan.." Midoriya spoke, stopping her in her tracks. "T-Thank you.. Thank you very much, y-you didn't need to do that, really.." he smiled.
"It's fine. What kind of friend would I be after all."

The class was finally over and the students were leaving the classroom. All that was left was Midoriya and Lily. The two always wait for each other since they usually come home from school together.
Midoriya was organising his belongings while Lily was just scribbling in her notebook. "I should hurry back and organise my notes."
"And I will have to release a new chapter. But before that.." Lily said, attaching her pen on her notebook. "Izu, I have to tell you something."
"What is it?" He asked while closing his bag. She sighed before continuing. "I'm not going to U.A."
"I- you-- what?"
The green haired boy was taken aback by the sudden information. "Y-You're not..?"
The girl averted her eyes as he looked at her in disbelief. "But why? Isn't U.A. your dream school?"
"Yes, you're correct." She replied as she leaned back on her chair. "But my father doesn't allow it."
Being even more confused, Midoriya bombarded her with more questions. "Eh? Why? Why would he refuse? Doesn't he know that you've wanted to study there since day one?"
"He thinks I'll just get hurt and I'll get tired easily. More than that, we aren't exactly rich at the moment." Lily shrugged, dissatisfied with her father's decision. "He thinks I'm weak and he thinks that I can't handle what U.A. has to offer. It's honestly stupid."
"Oh.." Midoriya was disappointed, he thought that, as friends, they would always be together. But I guess, this is the part where they go their seperate ways. Also the fact that she has a quirk but isn't allowed and he doesn't have a quirk but will try to get into the school is quite unfair. Both of their dreams were to get into U.A. and be great heroes, but what now?
"I guess I can't be by your side to protect you from Kacchan anymore. So, be safe." Lily faced her friend, trying to lighten up the mood a bit in her own way. The boy gave out a light chuckle. "Y-Yeah.."
"Don't worry Lily-chan, I'll make sure that we can still hang out together! We also still don't know if I can even make it in." Midoriya scratched the back of his head as he gave her a smile.
Ever since he was a child, the ambitious middle schooler has wanted nothing more than to be a hero. Midoriya's unfair fate leaves him admiring heroes and taking down notes on them whenever he gets the chance. Lily has admired his determination and supported him on his journey.
"Oh and also.. Lily, did you mean what you said a while ago..?" The green haired boy asked, making her head tilt in curiosity. "I said a lot of things."
"T-The one about me being a hero even without a quirk.."
