《Fateful Encounter (Fumikage Tokoyami x Reader)》Hidden Fear

You, your friend, and Fumikage are chatting, laughing, and grinning profusely. You're having such a wonderful time hanging out with your two best friends that you don't even know where you're going. Suddenly, you arrive at (f/n)'s house, and she gives you a wink as she dashes inside.
"(f/n)? What are you-" You haven't even finished your sentence by the time she's shut and locked the door. "Well," you turn to Fumikage, "I guess we have the rest of the night to ourselves. What do you wanna do?"
He ponders for a moment before replying, "I suppose we could..." Apparently, he hadn't thought up a plan, either. Since it's getting a little late, you can't do something that will take a lot of time, and you haven't been together for very long. However, you're both very much in love, so neither of you want to stop hanging out. That's when it hits you - Fumikage has been to your house, but you've never been to his. At first, Fumikage was strangely reluctant to go through with your plan, but you quickly changed his mind with your reasonable explanation and charming demeanor. As you walk to Fumikage's house, you notice that he seems rather nervous for some reason. You're not sure why, nor can you think of something to say to relieve him of worry, so you just converse with him in an attempt to make him feel comfortable. It clearly works - he is obviously enjoying the conversation. However, when the two of you finally arrive at his home, he grows tense and the sudden panic shows on his face.
Barely able to speak, he mutters, "Are-... Are you certain that you would like to enter my... home?"
"Yes!" you squeal excitedly. "I honestly can't wait!" While you smile uncontrollably, Fumikage slightly grimaces as he opens the door. You rush inside, right behind him, and take in all the sights, smells, etc. It's poorly illuminated, but there's enough light to see what you're doing and where you're going. Most of the furniture is plain black, yet quite stylish and classy. You notice that Fumikage keeps glancing down the hallway, then back at you. He's trying to be discreet, though it's obvious that whatever's upsetting him is down the hall.

"Are you okay, Fumikage?" you ask, concerned. "You're sweating. ...Do you want me to leave?"
He whips around to face you and swiftly replies, "Of course not, (y/n). I-I just... haven't... um..."
"-Oh, yeah! You haven't shown me your room yet. I'd love to see it! Can I, pleeeeeaaaasse?"
He mumbles grumpily to himself, but nods his head. You begin walking down the hall, but Fumikage just stands there, refusing to budge. You think it's so cute how he's standing there all pouty, with his arms crossed and his hair - well, probably feathers - somehow glistening in the dimly lit room. You walk up to him, grab his hand, and practically skip to his room. Letting go of your hand, Fumikage goes to a door and stands right in front of it, informing you that he has decided against showing you. It finally hits you - he must be embarrassed about his room or something in it. You assure him that whatever is in there won't make you feel any differently, but he seems to become even more shy at your words and continues blocking the door. Knowing that there's not much you can do to change his mind, you gently push him out of the way, wary of his recent injuries. He stumbles forward and to the side, somewhat shocked, as you swing open the door to his room and sprint inside.
Fumikage sighs and enters as well, knowing that it's too late to avoid you seeing his room. It's actually pretty cool; there's lots of awesome decorations, even if the overall theme is kinda dark. Okay, you know it's super goth, but you really like it. The darkness is actually really pleasant, and you enjoy the fact that there's nothing blindingly bright or annoyingly average. His room was dark and unique, and you love it!

You look over at Fumikage, ready to scream joyously about how awesome his room is when you notice that he's trembling with anxiety. You contain your excitement and ask if he's alright.
"No," he responds blatantly. "You- you-" He clenches his fists and shuts his eyes as he continues. "You have gazed upon this dreary mess I call my room. How... can you stomach... Such a melancholy sight??"
"Fumikage," you say sweetly, trying to calm him, "I'm sorry if I upset you. I just wanted to see your room - which is super awesome, by the way. I really wasn't trying to-"
"-If you do," he interrupts, "Think differently of me... That's what I feared. That you would see me in a different light... and not feel the same... as when you confessed... Your love for me. I couldn't chance a relationship with you, a goddess among people, a budding rose amongst the dull thorns that may never rise as close to the heavens as you. Now I can only attempt to fathom... what you think of me now..." Tears trickled down his face as he tried to hold in his quiet sobs.
You suddenly burst into yelling, practically screaming, "What?! THAT'S what you're upset about?!? Oh, Fumikage!" You wrap your arms around him, holding him close to you. "Even if I did hate your room, I don't think I could ever bring myself to hate you! You mean so much to me, Fumikage! There's no way that I could ever, in a million years, stop loving you like I do! You..." Still clinging to Fumikage, you realize that your eyes are wet, too. "You mean the world to me, Fumikage. Nothing this world can throw at us will ever change that. Honestly, I love everything about you - who you are, the kinds of things you like - and your room, for sure."
You let go of him as he looks back up to you, still crying but calming down. "Do... Do you truly mean it? Do you... Still care for me??"
"Of course," you whisper gently.
"You," he says as he looks deeply and passionately into your eyes, "Are certainly the kindest individual I have ever met." He embraces you, letting out his final tears, and of course, you hug him back. You still can't believe that he felt so scared to lose you, after all you've been through. At least now you know to be more careful of his feelings.
After Fumikage had collected himself and your curfew neared, you both said your good-byes and parted ways - or at least, you would have, if not for the current state of the neighborhood.
