𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐎 𝐆𝐎𝐓 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐎𝐅 Diego's car and started walking towards the house. "Be careful, okay? We don't know what Peabody's capable of."Allison used her hand to shield herself from the sun shinning so that she could see the house.
"Yeah, he didn't seem dangerous when I first saw him. Looked kinda scrawny." Diego examined the house looking at the available entrances around.
"Yeah, well, so are most serial killers and mass murderers. I mean, look at them." Allison pointed to the pair.
"Thanks." They both said in unison.
"Good point. So what's this guy want with Vanya?" Diego asked as he walked up the stairs. He was expecting Allison to answer the question, but she ran away to find another door while he was giving the question.
"I don't know. How about we ask him after we kill him?" Five answered sarcastically.
Five struggled to walk up the stairs and Y/n noticed that again. But she thought that maybe he was just hurt after the fight with The Handler, nothing too serious.
Diego reached his arm out and stopped the couple from coming any closer to the door."Whoa, whoa. Hey, look, I'm gonna burst through-" He stopped talking when he turned around and noticed that Allison wasn't with them.
"You know what? It would be nice for people just to stick to" But before he could finish his sentence, Five took Y/n's hand and teleported them inside the house.
When Five teleported them inside, Y/n instantly let go of Five's hand and wanted to start searching around but saw Diego jump through the door's glass window.
Allison, Five, and Y/n walked up to him when he was laying on the floor.
"Subtle." Allison looked over at him while Diego groaned.
"You know, the door was unlocked." Y/n twisted the doorknob and pointed at it.
Five slightly chuckled at her attitude but instantly stopped because the pain got worse by doing that.
"Yeah, well, my way works just fine." Diego stood up while the shattered glass segments fell off of him."Spread out. Yell if you, uh...you know, get in trouble." He sighed walking away.
"Ah, inspiring leadership." Y/n crossed her arms and looked at Allison.
"One of the greats."

Diego was downstairs looking in the kitchen when he came across the fridge where Vanya's concert advert was put up.
Five and Y/n were in the living room downstairs looking through the stuff. Y/n was looking inside the drawers while Five was just looking around when he couldn't focus on anything because of the pain.
"Okay, there is no way in hell that he is ok" Y/n thought to herself as she turned around and looked at him. She thought about saying something but then they heard Allison yell from upstairs.

"Guys, you need to see this."
Diego, Five, and Y/n quickly ran up the stairs to see what she wanted for them to look at. They made it to the attic and saw something...interesting.
"All of our faces are burnt off." Allison looked around.
"Well, that's not creepy. This guy's got some serious issues." Diego leaned in so he could see more clearly.
"Shit." Diego, Five, and Y/n said in unison.
Meanwhile, Allison was examining the figure in her hand."This was never about Vanya. This was about us."
Just at that moment, Five started gasping for air and he clutched down on his side. Y/n noticed that and anxiety washed over quickly.
"Five, are you-" But she couldn't finish it because Five collapsed into her arms."Whoa, whoa, Five!" She put him down on the ground and Allison and Diego sat on the ground too.
Then Allison lifted his sweater and saw a huge bullet wound. It all made sense: when The Handler was shooting and Y/n pushed that cart, Five pushed her out of the way and got shot instead of Y/n. She realized that at the moment.
"Jesus, Five, I knew something was wrong, why didn't you tell me?!" Y/n was praying that he would stay awake.
"You have to keep going. So..close." Five said his last words before losing conciseness.
"Five? Five!" Y/n shook him. She looked back at Allison and Diego."We need to get him to the academy. Now."

"Oh, good lord, Five if you survive this, I will kill you myself." She whispered touching Five's cold cheeks.
After about 15 minutes they arrived at the academy. Allison and Diego carried Five inside the mansion while Y/n was next to them thinking what should she do.
"We should have taken him to the hospital." Allison carried Five by his hands.
"A kid with a shrapnel wound might raise some questions." Five muttered something.
"Yeah, well, so does the murder shrine in Harold Jenkins's attic." Allison said as they laid him down on the sofa. She took off her blazer and Five groaned. "He's still losing blood. What do we do?"
"We gotta get the shrapnel out." Diego quickly responded but his attention was caught by Grace walking around the mansion. He walked away leaving Allison and Y/n alone with Five.
"Diego, where are you going?" Allison shouted.
Y/n looked around trying to think of what to do."Mom." Her face lit up and she ran to Grace to the hallway.
"Mom! Mom, we need your help and we need it fast as an emergency."

"Anything?" Diego asked as Allison came back.
"There's no answer at Vanya's place. And the receptionist at her music school said she was a no-show for her lessons today." Allison explained as Diego stared at Grace and Y/n stared at Five.
Diego nodded and walked out of the doorframe while Y/n and Allison just stood there turning around to see where he was going.
"Hey, you ok?" Allison asked in a worried tone.
Y/n was looking at Diego too because he didn't seem like his normal self, but Y/n was still trying to process everything that happened with Five, or what happened for him.
Diego turned around and stared at Allison in a look that says "you just saw a ghost".
"Yeah." He looked over to Grace who was getting Five all bandaged up."I don't know, it's just surreal seeing her."
Allison and Y/n both turned around to look at Grace.
"I just wanna tell her I'm s..."Diego couldn't get the last word, but Allison and Y/n already understood that and knew what he wanted to say. They turned around and looked at him with sympathetic looks before Diego broke the touching moment.
"We don't have enough time. We gotta go." Diego turned around and wanted to walk, but Allison caught his hand, stopping him in his tracks.
"I don't know, guys. Five is lying there, unconscious. We need him. We need both of you." Allison pointed at Five in the room and Y/n.
"And that's enough. Look, guys, we don't have time for this. We have to work with what we got, okay? And you gotta trust me on this one." Y/n crossed her arms on her chest.
"Y/n's right. We can do this ourselves." Diego agreed with Y/n and she nodded.
"I don't know, I'm thinking maybe I should go see Claire before-"
"You can't run away from this Allison." Y/n interrupted her."That's what started this whole mess in the first place."
Allison just heavily sighed looking at Five. Y/n also looked at him. The both of them just thought about what to do. Y/n knew that she could help them, but it was always them together, not one by one.
"Wow, the world is ending and you picked this time to get shot" she thought to herself.
"Luther was right." Diego looked down at the ground.
Allison and Y/n turned their heads slowly back at him. Y/n chuckled while Allison decided not to take the moment for granted.
"I didn't think I would ever hear you say those words." She scoffed.
"Yeah, well..." Diego smiled slightly."...we gotta stick together."
Allison crossed her arms on her chest."Where do we start?"
"Maybe the file could help us with something?" Y/n suggested nodding her head.
"Technically, yes. There are no other addresses in the file, but there is another relation listed. Jenkins' grandmother. She lived near Jackpine road." Diego started walking downstairs and so the girls followed him.
"You think he took her there?" Allison asked.
"It's a good enough place to start."
They walked downstairs to the first floor and Allison went to pick up her jacket while Diego and Y/n stood in the hallway where the chandelier fell.
"You can really help us right?" Diego asked looking at her with a worried look.
"Everything that Five said, did, though, I have it engraved in my memory. So, yes, I'm pretty positive I can."

𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐆𝐎 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐘 𝐃𝐎𝐎𝐑𝐒 and the Y/n walked out with Allison behind her with the file. Allison closed the doors while Diego opened the gates with the academy's logos.
Allison started reading the file and so did Y/n trying to find something walking and looking over at the documents. Diego started leading them to his right side but instantly turned around.
"Nope. Come on, this way."
"Wait, why?" Y/n looked around confused.
"Wait, but the car is back that way." Allison pointed.
Diego took Y/n's hand and started leading them to the opposite side."Trust me, okay? Come on." He said.
Y/n took Diego's grip off her hand and Allison was looking around confused at everything, turning around at the car."But what is going on?"
"They're here for me. Uh...they think I did something." He tried to walk and not make eye contact with them.
Y/n and Allison ran up to Diego when they heard him say that."What do they think you did?" Allison asked looking worried.
Just before Diego could answer, sirens started whooping in the background. Y/n turned around and saw dozens of police cars blocking the driveways."Whatever you did, it must be bad."
"Yes, murder."
Allison looked shocked for one second before asking Diego again scared."Did you?"
"No, no, no, of course not, okay? Why would you ask that about me, anyway?" Diego looked at Allison confused.
"I mean, you do carry knives with you everywhere." Allison had a good point tho.
"Yeah, okay, we're gonna have to split, okay? I'm in charge. Remember? Vanya needs you two." Diego suggested while Allison and Y/n kept looking around at the police cars.
They stopped walking and Allison tapped on his shoulder."Don't do anything stupid, okay? Come on, Y/n, let's go."
Y/n started walking with Allison but Diego caught her by her shoulder."And you..."
Y/n looked at him confused and scared."What?"
"Be careful, okay? We only have you left and we need your help." Diego looked at her eyes and she nodded before running away to Allison.

It Started with Slime
Before we jump in, let me say that the MC starts stupid, so the language and writing style is straightforward to reflect this. The writing improves with the MC and as the chapters progress (I hope). It is also a gradual growth story, so no zero to hero in ten seconds... with that out of the way: An alchemical experiment has gone wrong and results in a Slime Monster. It doesn't have a name at first and is something that it will need to work out! This story follows a Slime that starts as a Micro Slime with some level of consciousness, and there is more to it than meets the eye. Survival is the name of the game. To improve, it works hard to grow, evolve and become more powerful to survive its harsh new reality. There is a lot more going, and only time will tell if this Slime (all its various versions) can become strong enough to make it through the strife to the other side. It's a harsh world, after all. It Started with Slime is a story with a Monster Protagonist Evolution story. There will be no profanity and no sexual content, and there will be some violence and fighting descriptions. I am a native English speaker, and so the English here should be to a good standard. That said, even though editing, there may be some corrections and typos, so if you see some, let me know! If it bothers you a lot, I am working to make sure all chapters have no typos, but of course, some might slip through. I will endeavour to correct any picked up, though! Also, I started this a few months ago and so any feedback is always appreciated, also reviews and ratings! If you like or don't like the story, let me know in the detailed reviews! That always helps me see what is good and what needs improving. Working on releasing chapters twice a week, I will try to increase that as time goes, but at the moment, that is what I can release. Patreon has more. If the story gets more popular, then I will increase the releases. I am aiming ultimately for a chapter a day if I can get to that. Chapters are roughly 1500 words, with Interludes every five chapters being more or less than that! Enjoy! Edit: Book 1 finished on Patreon, and the format for Book 2 is slightly different with Interludes every three chapters, and the release schedule will be three chapters a week.
