《My Mute Mate》Ch. 31

"Hey guys." Someone mutters as the heavy footsteps get closer. They get out of the stairway to reveal Blake. Oh. Fantastic.
"Hello." Sym gives a bitter greeting and the boys look at her strange. Blake sighs and stumbles over to the coffee pot. After pouring himself a cup, he comes to stand next to me. I take an awkward step away from him.
"So what's up with you guys?" Blake asks and me and Sym just share a look of annoyance.
"Um well, we were just eating some food." Calum pipes up and Blake nods, silence following.
"Well I can tell when I'm not wanted. I'll see you later. And Dove, last night was fun. We should do that again." Blake finishes his coffee before putting the cup down and abruptly leaves the house.
"God I hate him.." Sym grumbles and forcefully stabs the last of her eggs.
After the rest of all the knocked out guests wake up and are immediately shooed out by Sym, we all decided to go to a movie. But then negated it due to Ashton, Calum, and I's hangovers. We decide to simply just go for a ride to the nearby woods.
'Are you sure it was okay to leave without cleaning up?' I ask Sym and she nods once without even looking at me to avoid the guys questioning her. I don't know if she's told Calum yet but I know for a fact Ashton doesn't know.
"So Dove, who was that guy?" Ashton asks from beside me, and I pause.
"He's.. a crazy ex of hers." Sym explains for me, and that's the most basic way to say it. Crazy Ex, yeah that fits Blake quite well.
"Oh. Yeah, I've got a few of those as well. I understand your struggle." Calum admits with a laugh.

"Yeah, same. I can't go three days without an ex of mine calling me. It's mainly the same one too. They're usually in tears and try to get me back. It's weird." Sym says, and Calum looks at her.
"Yeah well let me answer next time." Calum looks disgruntled, and I grin. It's cute when guys are jealous. We pull into a clearing in the woods that we regularly visit. We get out of the car and I lean against the hoods side. Calum jumps up onto the hood and crosses his feet as he leans across it.
"Yo Hood, get your feet off my hood. Show some respect for the car." Sym teases Calum playfully, but Calum throws his feet off the side towards me just in case. Ashton laughs.
"Way to take orders, Cal." Ashton says with a grin. Calum flips him the bird and Ashton's grin just gets larger. Suddenly someones phone starts ringing. Sym pulls out her phone and smiles suddenly. She answers as she strides over to Calum.
"Hey." She starts talking on the phone and smiles at Calum. He looks at her in confusion. I can almost imagine how Sym must look. Innocent smile, devilish fire dancing in her eyes. An angel with the worst intentions. "Oh stop crying, it'll all be okay. There's someone who wants to talk to you, Keenan."
She hands Calum the phone, batting her eyelashes. She mouths something, which I can only assume was 'my ex'. Calum cautiously takes the phone and puts it to his ear, a nervous look fleeting across his face.
"Hey man, s-so Sym tells me you keep calling her. Oh, I'm her boyfriend, Calum. It's okay man, it's coo- pardon? What did you just say?" Calum looks like he doesn't like what he's hearing, and Sym tries to take the phone. Calum moves and swats away her hand. He walks off so we can't hear what he's saying.

"Keenan can get... Irritable when he doesn't get his way. If you don't date him, he says some pretty mean stuff. Didn't think he'd go off on Cal. Imma go make sure they don't plan a fight or something." Sym explains and mutters something about 'it'd be entertaining though' while she stalks off.
"Well, that was amusing." Ashton giggles his little giggle and I can't help but smile in agreement. We watch as Sym hugs Calum while he talks angrily into the phone. I slide down to the dirt and look up at the sky. I see the moon in all of its daylight glory and get an idea to draw the moon. I look around for a nearby stick, and find one under the car. I start drawing the moon on a slightly smaller scale. I'm drawing on the craters when suddenly Ashton slides down next to me. He starts drawing stars around my moon with his finger. We're quiet as we draw, so quiet we can just barely hear Calum on the phone.
"Well that was fun. We should draw the sun and sky ne- what're you doing Dove?" Ashton asks me as I write above the drawing. I finish writing 'She looks at him like...' just to see that Ashton somehow finished my sentence at the bottom.
"She looks at him... Like he hung the moon. Nice guys." Sym suddenly pipes up from behind us and I jump a few feet.
"How are you so quiet?" Ashton asks with a laugh, getting up and wiping off his butt of dirt before offering me a hand to get up. I take it, following suit and wiping off my butt as well. I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear as Calum talks about Sym's taste in guys.
"I'm just saying, your taste in guys is horrible. Every ex of yours I meet are weird and don't seem to have even the smallest regard for manners or other's feelings. Its hard to hear them over their egos." Calum says and Sym shrugs.
"Well that's not saying much. Have you forgotten that you two are dating?" Ashton asks and laughs at Calums pouty face. Sym simply kisses Calums cheek before laughing with Ashton.
"Hey who wants to go cause some trouble since yall seem to have recovered a little bit?" Sym hops into the drivers seat and gives us a brilliant smile. I shrug like 'why not' and get in the passenger.
"Sorry babes, looks like you're kickin it in the back with Ash for this ride." Sym laughs as the boys get into the back. We drive off to cause some mischief, leaving our drawing behind.

No More Respawns
Synopsis: The first time Allen died, he was forced back into a living hell where death is temporary, and power is all that matters. With evil and depravity as the rule, tragedy becomes comedy and life becomes an act. Only a deal with a shady god can get him back to his old life, but what happens if there’s nothing left to save? Maybe hell isn’t so bad if you have infinite lives… until you don’t. Needless to say, it’s all fun and games until there’s no more respawns. Foreword: This story is meant primarily as an action adventure and secondarily as a dark and nihilistic comedy. It may not be readily apparent in the beginning, but that's what I have planned (I feel the need to emphasize the dark; don’t rage at me if it gets too ‘traumatizing’ or something). I’m going to take my time with this, so it won’t immediately inundate you with doom and gloom. This is also a comedy, remember? On that note, if for some cursed reason you just can't handle either the references or the jokes, I am willing to battle in the comments. Anyway, I still put a significant amount of effort into the system, so I hope you enjoy that part. It is a little bulky, I'll admit to that, but I wanted to try something new and its more fun when there's more depth to it. Regardless, I still have a lot of fun doing math in the middle of writing a fictional story (/s). I also want to see if I can keep from messing up the pacing. Many times, I end up going too fast because I'm afraid of the story getting boring, which tends to ironically have the opposite effect. I'm still learning I suppose; we'll see how things go. Lastly, please leave reviews and comments, they really mean a lot to me and (usually) help me improve considerably. I'll be asking for feedback in the polls and I do still check the old ones from time to time. Notes: The story takes a bit of time to develop; give it time if you're here for drama, grimdark, or antihero. The system is all blue boxes and I'm not half-assing the numbers. Chapters will be between 1k and 2k words usually. I always use the oxford coma, fight me. Might drop if rating falls below 4 stars, idk. It depends on how my life is going. Cover drawn by yours truly in MS paint. (I have skill, I know)

Emperor Marcus II is dead and the Empire is now ruled by the High Council, a fractious alliance of noble Lords and upstart Guildmasters, held together though sheer force of will by the common born Lord George, the Emperor's grieving lover. It is not an alliance anyone expects to last long. To save the Empire from another tiresome civil war, Sir Brand, the Duke of Orston, Dragon Slayer, all round hero and terrible poet, travels to the far away city of Sealmu Alu in an attempt to find his father, the infamous Butcher of Bergraz and persuade him to return home from his self imposed exile and take the throne. As the Empire lurches from crisis to crisis like a drunk on a ice covered road, Lady Anna, aristocratic heir to one of the noblest houses in the Empire and her companion, the eccentric Earth born Lady Kate acquire evidence that suggest the young Emperor's death may not have been the tragic accident it appeared to be. Meanwhile the two people many regard as responsible for the whole recent crisis have disappeared without trace. The beautiful Druid Healer Natalie, the only person who can open the ancient alien Gateways to Earth and her Earth born lover, Xavier are on a quest to destroy the evil Iron Brotherhood, their quest taking them to strange places of legend, Flor Ida, Amarillo and beyond. And if all this wasn't enough, the Dragons are not only back, they've taken over the internet and now seem to regard themselves as the dominant species of the planet.
