"Da!" Mecca screeched as Amber attempted to get her ready for the day.
"He had to go to work mama, we can call him later okay?"
Mecca calmed down and nodded.
Amber let out a breath of relief as she started on Mecca's socks.
"Mommy has an interview, say good luck ma!"
"Ma!" Mecca said as she bursted into a fit of giggles.
Amber was going back to school.
Today, she had an interview for an internship that came with a full scholarship.
She had saved up enough money, so now she felt like it was her time to stop dancing and do what she really wanted . It had to be now, or she might be in the club forever.
Once Amber got them ready, they were on their way out the house and to Sky's house.
"Hey pretty girl!" Sky smiled at Mecca, who ran into her house.
"Hey so I should be back around 1." Amber said as she went into her purse.
Sky shook her head as she watched Amber try to give her a few hundred dollars.
"Ace tries to pay me every month for keeping her and you always tryna slip money into my hand. I told y'all I don't want it."
"You just do a lot for me and-"
"I love you and Mecca, it's good Amb."
Amber nodded as Mecca ran to her.
"Bye!" Mecca waved.
"Bye Mecs," Amber smiled as she walked out the door.

2 hours later and Amber had finished up her interview, one that she considered to be successful.
Now, she was on her way to the club to handle business with Ace.
Once she arrived, she walked to his office.
"Oh my gosh.." her eyes widened as she watched one of the strippers stand up from behind the desk and wipe her mouth.

Ace pushed the girl off of him and stood up to button his pants.
"I'm just gonna go..." the girl said fixing herself.
Once she left Amber looked at him and laughed.
"Umm you knew I was coming right?"
"Uh yea my bad.." He cleared his throat. "You can sit down."
"I'm good, but I just wanted to let you know I'm done wit this." She said motioning around his office.
He nodded "You getting back wit Knowledge?"
"That's not your business.. but no Ace I'm starting school." She told him.
"In Atlanta?"
She shrugged "Most likely, I'm not sure of allat yet."
"Okay, I'm prada you mama." He said giving him a small smile.
"Thank you!" She said returning the smile.
"Lemme give you this.." he said pulling stacks out of a safe.
She gratefully took it and slid them in her purse.
".. and I wanna talk to you about Mecca." She said.
"Youn want me 'round no more?"
She quickly shook her head "No, she loves you. But I think you should fall back a little."
"Understood." He nodded.
"Okay, that's it!" She said giving him a polite smile.
"Ight mama," he waved as she opened the door and walked out.
After her brief conversation with him, she headed to Sky's house for Mecca.

"You call da." Mecca said as soon as they got into Amber's house.
"Okay girl." Amber laughed as she pulled out her phone to call Knowledge.
Amber clicked his name on her FaceTime log, and within the first ring he answered.
"Wassup," he smiled, looking down at the phone as he drove.
"Mecs wants to talk to you." Amber said as she passed the phone on to the child.

"Hi da." Mecca waved as she cheesed at the camera.
"Wassup pretty girl?"
"Nun." She answered causing Knowledge to chuckle.
Then Mecca began to babble while he sat there pretending to understand and converse with her.
"Lemme talk to mommy." Knowledge said.
Mecca frowned as she passed the phone back to Amber.
"You made her upset." Amber laughed as she placed Mecca in her lap and put both of their faces in the camera.
"How yo interview go?" He asked.
Amber smiled "I think it went well, they said they should be contacting me in the next few weeks."
By this point Mecca had diverted her attention to her iPad.
"That's good ma, you decided which school you wanna be at?" He asked her.
"I'm in between Clark and Savannah State." She told him.
"And you doing journalism for real this time?" He asked.
Amber playfully mugged him then let out a laugh.
"Not too much Intelligence.."
He chuckled "I'm prada you tho."
"Me too." She smiled.
The two sat in silence and looked at each other until Mecca let out a noise.
"Da!"
"Yea baby?"
"Hi" she waved.
"Hi Mecca." He smiled.
Soon his car stopped and he was taking off his seatbelt.
"Imma call y'all later, I gotta work out." He said as he opened his car door.
"Okay bye." Amber waved.
Mecca pouted as the phone call hung up.
"He's gonna call you back soon Mecs, relax." Amber laughed. "You want me to make chicken tenders for dinner?"
Mecca thought about it then nodded.
"Juice?"
"You can have some juice too." Amber smiled.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
