《The last adventure ~The Goonies~ Brand Walsh》Chapter 4

We all ran down stairs and to the front door. Brand opened it and walked to the veranda with us going after him, we saw Elgin Perkins and some other guy with umbrellas and trench coats.
"Senior jerk alert" Mouth said out of breath.
"Can we help you?" Brand asked.
"Hello little guys, I'm Mr Perkins. Troy's father." Elgin explained.
"Ahhh Samantha didn't see you there, what a pleasure it is to see you. How is your father?" He asked.
"Could be better without you making him work overtime" I muttered. Causing him to smile happily knowing he'll be winning tomorrow.
"We know who Troy is, he's such a cheap guy" Data said getting a look from Brand to shut up.
"My dad isn't here" Brand said hiding the annoyed tone and look.
"Is your mommy here?" He asked.
"No sir, she's actually at the market buying Pampers for all us kids." Brand explained really wanting him to go.
Elgin dryly laughed before stopping immediately and looking at the man next to him. "Papers Bill, you can give these to your father to sign I'll be here to pick them up in the morning" he said holding out blue paper.
Brand walked down the stairs and took the papers from him.
"Thank you" Brand said.
"Oh, Samantha I've got some papers for your father too" he said as Bill hand him some paper. I walked down the stairs and into the rain to collect the papers.
"Thank you, I'll give these to my father" I said with a believable fake smile.
"No, thank you. Both of you" he said and walked away with Bill.
Brand and I walked to the porch but I headed straight inside and sat on the couch looking at the papers. I felt tears welling up in my eyes but anger was burning through my veins. After we get kicked out of our house they want to force dad to stay here and continue working at the mines with only two other men while everyone else gets sent packing.

I stuffed it in my bag and looked up as Brand, Mouth, Data and Chunk walked in. Brand noticed my look and sat down besides me.
"What's wrong?" He asked holding my hand.
"He's forcing dad to stay here and work at the mines with two other workers while everyone gets sent packing, it's only going to be me and mum but even then it will just be me because mum will have to be working twice as much" I said crying. Brand frowned and brought me in for a hug. He gently rubbed my back trying to help me calm down.
"Sammy, it will be okay. I promise you everything will work out in the end" he whispered. I nodded and looked at him with a small, sad smile.
"I'm just going to clean up" I whispered, he nodded and stood up with me he headed to the kitchen while I went to the bathroom. I closed the door and looked at myself in the mirror, I turned the tap on and splashed cold water onto my face.
I dried my face making sure I looked like I hadn't been crying, I didn't need to clean or fix my makeup up because I wasn't one to wear makeup I didn't like it. I only wore it for special occasions.
"Okay, I'm going to go out there and I'm going to have a good time with my friends" I told myself. I walked to the door and tried opening it but it wouldn't budge.
"Hey guys!" I shouted knocking on the door, jiggling the door handle. I continued hitting begging to get out.
"Let me out of here!" I yelled hitting the door harder.
I started to give up, I looked at the window and decided to get out that way. I opened it and jumped out I landed on my hands and knees and without knowing I had grazed my head on a rock. I ran to the front and heard shouting. I ran up the stairs, heading inside my eyes widened as I saw Brand tied in his chair with his exercise thingy.

I rushed down to him causing him to look at me, I used all my strength to pull both him and the couch up so I could help him. I got the thing untied and he immediately jumped over the arm of the couch and held my face in his hands.
"How did this happen?" He asked softly. I gave him a confused look but then realised what he was talking about as he had gently touch my forehead where I had apparently cut. The sudden slight pressure caused me to wince.
He grabbed a first aid kit and grabbed some alcohol wipes he held the left side of my face as he gently cleaned the wounded. I crunched my face up in pain as it did what it was meant to do. Brand stopped and looked at me with concern.
"I'm okay, it just stings a bit" I said quietly. He nodded and cleaned the rest up before putting two small wound closure strips on my forehead. I smiled at him and helped him cleaned up.
"What happened here?" I asked.
"The little twerps held me down and ran off with the map and they put a chair under the doorknob to the bathroom so you couldn't get out" he explained. I nodded and grabbed his hand and dragged him out to the bikes.
"I'm going to kill them!" He shouted as he looked at his flat tires, I placed my hand on his shoulder giving it a light squeeze. He looked at me, the anger towards the boys dying down and looked at me with kind, caring eyes.
"We can take my bike" I said giving him a small smile.
"Then we can kick their butts" I said, he chuckled and nodded. He grabbed a jumper then locked the house up and I left my bag inside. I hopped on the bike and wrapped my arms around his waist so I wouldn't fall off the bike.
We set off on a journey to get the boys back, not knowing what we were in for.
