《Pure Heart {EJ x Reader}》Chapter 25: Finding You Here

I looked up at the tall figure, he was almost as tall as the trees surrounding us. I've had a question on the back of my head since it first happened, when I met slenderman the first time I didn't get a chance to ask because I was worried about Jack but now that we're alone...
"Slenderma-"
"" I gave him a confused face before opening my mouth again. "What do you mean it was...you.." My mind had the sudden realization on what he meant, my eyelids widened along with my mouth. "" Many emotions went through my head, they spun around trying to organize themselves. First it was sad, then angry, then confused before looping again, I just said the first word that came to mind.
"Why?"
"" His face didn't show anything but his voice was serious and stern, I took a deep breath before matching his serious tone.
"I understand your reasons on why you did it but I can't accept an apology, even if you didn't say you are sorry. I care for Jack probably just as much as you, I know it's only been a couple months but those have been the best months of my life. If Jack hadn't shown up, I'd have probably killed myself sometime between those months and if not then I would have died to those people who came to kill me. Though I respect you I can't sympathize with you, I have done everything in my life for others and now I want to do something for myself. I want to BE selfish, even if it means Jack changed his mind about me and hates me now." I gave the tall slender man a stern face, he blankly stared at me for a couple seconds before a long sigh passed his non existing lips. I looked at him with a confused face, how did he do that?

"" And with that, he disappeared into the empty space. I sighed before looking around my surroundings, I thought about what Slender said. "A place where flowers bloom with no trees? Ok, Slender said he was tied to a tree somewhere but the place he's at is where no trees are...No, he said all but the dead. So the tree he's tied too is old and dead probably, the place he's talking about is also a meadow." I snapped my fingers before smirking, I'm so smart. The direction I started at was to the north, more into the woods and away from civilization. "I hope he's ok.."
"Ugh, what happened?" My vision was blurry along with my body being numb, I couldn't see anything but a black abyss around me. Once my vision started to clear up, my surroundings turned into a field of sunflowers that were at least 5 feet tall. I could feel my mask on my face and my regular clothes on my body but something was wrapped around my waist and arms, holding me down tightly. I tugged at the rope that is trapping me in between it and the tree I was tied too, the bark of the tree was soft and hollow on the inside from what I could feel.
"Slenderman!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, I couldn't believe him. He had to just tell me what happened, knock me out, then tie me to a dead tree in the middle of a FUCKING sunflower field. I struggled against the rope around me, it loosened a little but not enough to get me to wiggle through. Something didn't feel right, I had to get out of this rope before whatever it was happens and I wasn't there to stop it. I kept struggling against the rope, profanities past by my mouth as I kept struggling.

"SHIT!" my voice rang out, if only I could get out of these ropes. I struggled more, it was tiring but I didn't stop. A sudden pain hit my stomach, I stopped. Looking down, I could see my scalpel sticking out of my hoodie pocket. My eyes widen, an escape was finally possible. I relaxed my body, tense muscles became relaxed along with my scalpel relaxing in my pocket. I shook my body side to side, trying to get the scalpel to fall out.
It slid down but stopped, it was caught on something in my pocket. "Shit, come on-" I bright my hand up as far as it could come, it was only inches away. The scalpel blade would lightly glad across my fingers, opening little scratches that seeped out blood. My middle and pointer finger clamped onto the blade, I smirk before pulling the scalpel until I could grab it was my hand. After getting hold of it, I was able to flip it so it was against the rope. I finally started to cut through the rope.
"Come on, come on." I repeated to myself, it was coming loose. I stopped cutting and pulled against the rope, in a couple seconds it snapped. Getting up quickly, I ran towards the flower field and right into an invisible wall. My face smacked right onto it, I held my face in my hands. "What the fuck!?" I looked up. Where my body had collided with the wall, there was now little ripples gliding across it until it flattened out. I took my mask off and wiped the blood from my nose, licking it off my fingers. My stomach growled.
"Just great," I hadn't eaten in days. I was starving.

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.
