《Pure Heart {EJ x Reader}》Chapter 13: The Mark

As we walked through the dark covered woods to the cabin, I tightened my grasp on my shoulders as I hugged myself to get some warmth from the cold. I couldn't help but glance over at Jack every few seconds, he walked a couple feet in front of me as I slowly walked behind him like a lost puppy. I felt so happy and great full that he had come and helped me, but guilt soon took over my thoughts as I thought about our situations. I felt like a burden on his shoulders and as the seconds past, the weight became more and more heaver. I couldn't help but wonder why he had done the stuff he did but I never questioned it, we had gotten at least midway to the cabin when a dim light flashed in front of me. My body tensed at the sight making me stop in my tracks, the light had been small and dimly light. My heart beating faster with every minute I stood there, the echo of Jacks footsteps soon disappeared from my thoughts as I stared at the blank space where the light had been. I soon figured out what the light had come from and loosened my tenseness as a smile grew onto my face.
The small firefly's light grew again as it hovered in front of my face, the smile on my face grew as more and more fireflies lit up from the green grassy ground by my feet. I let go of my grasp on my shoulders and slowly began to bend down to the ground, the lights kept flashing as I sat there gazing at them. My eyes lit up with the sparkle they presented themselves in the pale moon light and dark midnight sky, my focus was completely on the fireflies that I hadn't noticed that Jack had come back calling my name. When he found me he stood still and watched from beside a tree, I snapped out of my thoughts as I caught sight of him. Once he noticed that I was looking over at him, he stood straight and walked cautiously towards me.
"Beautiful, aren't they..." he spoke with a deep emotionless voice that caused my heart to stop for a split second, I took in his figure as he came closer to my form which was still on the ground on my knees.
"Y-yes, they are beautiful" I spoke up snapping out of my stare that was locked on him, he nelt down beside me and faced in front of us. I sighed and looked out above us into the starry sky, I could feel Jacks stare on me but I didn't look back I only focused on the stars above us.
"Why did you want me to kill you?" The question caught me off guard as my body tensed up and my gaze landed on Jack.
"Why ask such a question?" I tried to avoid giving an answer as I looked away from him and back at the flickering lights in front of us, I heard a slight sigh come from beside me as I felt his stare become more tense.
"There's no point in hiding it, your eyes show it anyway. I can read you like a book" he spoke out.
I couldn't help but hold my tongue at his statement, it was true. I didn't have really any reason to avoid his question and I have been told my emotions show more then my words. I bit the side of my cheek as I contemplated if I should just let it out, I don't know Jack very well at all.

Should I tell him?
Her quietness didn't help her situation at all, it just made it more obvious that she was hiding something. I wanted to know because no one has WILLINGLY wanted to die before my hands, I couldn't help but hate that she wanted to end a life that she was given and I didn't have. I stared her down as we sat there, I wasn't leaving without an answer from her and I knew I wouldn't let her leave without one either. She started to figit with her hands as she brought her knees up to her chest, she put her head down to her knees. I could hear her breathing as it became rapid and harder as she sat there, the more she waited to answer the more demanding I became.
"Tell me" I demanded with a low tone in my voice, when I didn't get a response I jumped onto her small form and held her down by her wrists. I looked down at her face, I froze up as I saw tears fell from her face in the dim light of the fireflies around us. She was biting her bottom lip and furrowing her eyebrows, blood fell from her lip as she bit down on it harder as we stayed there. My once dead heart began to beat faster as I watched her, I felt the anger fall from my non showing face as I loosened my grip on her.
"I-I'm sorry but I'm not ready to tell y-you, but I will in time.." she let out as she closed her eyes and Leaned her head away from my gaze. I let out a sigh as I fully let go of her arms and sat up from her body, I kept my eye on her though as she got up from her potion. I watched as her hand went up to her neck and rubbed it, her face grew more stressed as she winced away from her own hand.
"Did I hurt you?" I asked, I would feel guilty if it was from me since I had promised not to harm her. Her eyes widened and shook her head violently as she covered the spot once more, a faint smile appeared on her face as she looked back at me.
"N-no! No! You didn't do anything!" She almost yelled out as I gave her a weird look, she looked away from me in the complete opposite direction of me. As she was turning her head, I got a glimpse of her neck as her hand uncovered it for a split second showing a dark bruise that was placed on the center-side of her neck but as I got a better look at it my eyes widened. I quickly grab her wrist and pulled her hand away from her neck, she gasped out but I didn't stop from pulling her towards me and with my other hand I grabbed her chin. She flinched away and tried to push me away but I had the advantage in this situation, as I looked at the bruise like thing I could get a better look at it and saw little red marks as well.
"Where did this come from!" I spoke out in fury but had no idea why but my heart ached as I kept my eyes glued to the black and red mark.
"I-I didn't want it! I don't know what it is Jack!" She quickly yelled back at me with her eyes glued to my face trying to find any emotion through my mask. I processed what she meant by what she had said,

"You don't know what this is?" I asked with a less threatening volume but I was still angry at the fact that the man who did this will die by me and my hands only.
"N-no, What is it?" She looked at me with pleading eyes as my gaze looked over to her face. She looked so scared at that moment that it was something terrible or was something infected.
"It's a hickey, they are marks that either male or female give to each other to show that their that persons significant other. But your not his, (y/n)." I looked back at the hickey that was placed on her delicate skin that almost glowed in the moon light, I watched as her free hand grabbed my wrist to my hand that held her chin. I looked back at her as her eyes watered once more, I slowly let go of her chin and watched as she grasped my hand tightly and squeezed it.
"Make it go away please..." she begged me as her hands and body began to shake, I couldn't help but like the way she looked at me and pleaded for my help. I felt my body warm up by her touch and by the way she leaned in closer to me as she was beginning to become cold, I let go of her wrist and brought it up to her face and caressed her cheek in my cold hold. She flinched a little but didn't pull away from my grasp, I watched as her eyes softened and filled with warmth. I felt myself lose control as I could feel her breathing on my face, I spoke lightly and almost out of breath for some reason.
"I can make it go away, if you let me do it my way" she hesitated for a moment and as her gaze was still on me she nodded lightly, a smirk came across my face as she did so.
"Close your eyes then.." I demanded her, she did as I said and closed her eyes without hesitation. I then took my left hand out of her grasp and brought it to my mask, I slightly lifted it up so only part of my nose was seen and my grey lips. My skin was even darker at night as no light reached it, I then brought the same hand over to her other cheek and held her face. She looked nervous and out of breath as her breathing was rugged and out of tune, I smirked once again at the curious looking face she held. I then focused my gaze onto the hickey she had gotten from earlier, a growl escaped my throat as I leaned down to her neck. I began to blow light breathes onto her neck making her flinch.
My mind was racing as Jack blew cold air onto my neck, I couldn't help but flinch at the sudden action. I felt a weird feeling in my stomach when he did it again, I brought my hands up to his that so lightly held onto my face. I felt his hands and grasped them tightly with mine, I felt so warm and not alone as I held onto his thin fingers. My feelings for Jack where mixed to this point, I hardly knew the guy but felt so nice and warm around him. I couldn't help but want his hands to touch me more, soon sinful thoughts were brought to my head.
DONT THINK OF THAT STUFF!
My thoughts raced as my face began to become heated and red from my thoughts and from the way he held me, I was cut off from my thoughts as I felt something soft touch the spot where the hickey was. I sucked in air through my teeth making a whistle sound come out, I leaned away from him unknowingly so he had more room. I felt different with Jack then I did with the man who almost raped me, I actually didn't hate the contact that was shared with me between Jack and I.
Jack's lips on my neck kissed the bruised mark lightly but hard enough to where I could feel it, I then snapped my eyes open and tightened my grasp on his hands as I felt a wet, warm, and rough object touch my skin when jack leaned away a little to only put his tongue where he kissed my skin. I began to squirm a little at how he touched me with his warm tongue, I closed my eyes once again and sighed as I felt his tongue leave my neck. I leaned closer to him as he stayed where he was, I could feel his breath against my skin as he leaned his head against my neck for support. He was breathing quickly as was I, I couldn't stop the butterflies from fluttering around in my stomach when his lips landed on my neck once again but this time he pressed down harder. I felt him become more intense with the kiss then before, the kiss became hard and loose at the same time. I switched from licking my neck to kissing it constantly as I held my breath, a little noise came from my mouth as he suddenly bit my skin. He stopped within hearing my noise but still had my skin within is teeth, he held my skin like that until he bit down harder onto my skin. Another noise came from my mouth as he did so, I quickly brought my hand up to my mouth and covered it. I felt so embarrassed that he had heard that noise, he suddenly let go of my skin and brought his face away from my neck. I looked back at his face as my eyes barely held themselves open but not because I was tired but because of his actions.
"(Y/n)" he spoke out, his voice was low and calming like smooth caramel.
"Y-yeah?" I asked him trying to pull myself together.
"I want to get to know you, the real you" he stated as he looked at me.
"I do too, Jack" I spoke out to him, it was true. I want to get to know him, every part and detail about him. I can't help but yearn for him, I want to see his face as well.
Get him to trust me enough to let me see him, the real him.

And that's not to say Hickory is bad, not all the time, not ever on purpose - just there are things a man has to - That drinking and fighting ain't wrong just as long as the chores are done proper first, that those parts of life that make it worth living ain't no sin, that loving a lady is proper and Hickory just has so much love to give!
