I can't believe she just kissed me, not a bad thing at all, it was amazing. But that's Richies sister, how could I date my best friends sister? That kiss was amazing, a dream come true, honestly.
Mine and Rylees hands were still intertwined, it isn't a weird thing because we hold each other's hands all the time, it won't look suspicious... right?
Rylee dragged me over to a bench in the middle of the park where Stan and Richie were sitting, I didn't know how to act, I just kissed my best friends sister. Well.. technically she kissed me, but I kissed her back.
Rylee made me sit down on the bench with her, Stan, and Richie. Richie and Rylee were making jokes, but me and Stan stayed quiet the whole time, unless we were telling one of them to shut up
A couple minutes later, Bill, Beverly, Mike, and Ben came back and sat with us, but Bill, right away started talking about whatever was terrorizing the town.
"So let me get this straight, it comes out from wherever to eat kids for like, what, a year? And then what? It goes back into hibernation?" I tried
"Maybe it's like.. what do you call it? Cicadas! You know, the bug that comes out every seventeen years." Stan suggested
"My Grandfather thinks this town is cursed. He says that all the bad things happen in this town are because of one thing, an evil thing that off of the people of Derry." Mike said
"But it can't be one thing. We all saw something different." Stanley said
"Maybe. Or maybe It knows what scares us the most and that's what it makes us see." Mike reasoned
"But I saw Georgie. I'm not scared of him, I loved the little kid!" Rylee yelled
I gave her hand a squeeze, and she calmed down. "I-I saw a leper, that thing was like a walking infection." I said
"But you didn't, because it wasn't real. None of this is. Not Eddies leper, Bill and Rylee seeing Georgie, or the woman I keep seeing." Stan rambled
"she hot?" Richie asked
I looked over to Rylee but she was already looking at me, she smiled and looked down, then punched Richie on the arm.
"NO! No, Richie! She's not hot! Her face is all messed up. None of this makes sense, they're all like bad dreams." Stan raised his voice
"I don't think so. I know the difference between real life and a bad dream." Mike said

"What'd you see? You saw something too?" I asked
"Yeah. You guys know that burned down house on Harris Avenue?" We all nodded "Well I was inside when it burned down. Before I was rescued, my mom and dad were trapped in the next room over from me, they were pushing and pounding on the door, trying to get to me. But it was too hot. When the firemen finally found them, their skin had melted down to the bone. We're all afraid of something." Mike told us
"Got that right." Richie and Rylee mumbled
"Why, Ry, Rich? What are you two afraid of?" I asked the twins
Rylee and Richie looked at eachother before looking behind them at the stage with performers, "Clowns."

- - Third Person - -
A few days later, Bill invited the losers over to his house for something, but if they would've known what was going to happen, they wouldn't have agreed to come.
"Okay. Look, th-tha-tha-thats where Georgie disappeared." Bill pointed to a place on the map, "There's t-the Ironworks." He pointed to another place on the map, "and the black spot," he pointed to another place on the map. "Everywhere it happens, it's all connected by the sewers and meets up at the-"
"The well house," Ben finished for him
"It's in the house on Neibolt Street." Stan said
"You mean the creepy-ass house when all the hobos and junkies like to sleep?" Richie and Rylee said at the same time
Eddie pulled out his inhaler and used it, he could barely breathe.
"I hate that place, it always feels like it's watching me," Beverly told the group, Rylee pat Beverly on the pat as a way to say 'don't worry i'm here.'
"That's where i saw it. That's where I saw the clown." Eddie gasped out through deep breathes
"T-T-Thats where it lives." Bill told his group of friends
Eddie used his inhaler again, making Rylee walk over and grab his hand, "In and out, Ed's, breathe in and out." she mumbled
"I can't imagine anything wanting to live there, it's disgusting!" Stanley yelled
Eddie let go of Rylees hand and walked infront of the projector, "Can we stop talking about this? I-I can barely breathe! This- This is summer! We're kids. We're supposed to be outside, having fun! I-I-I can barely breathe for fucks sake! I'm up here having a fucking athsma attack. I'm not doing this." Eddie was freaking out, he ripped the map off of the wall

"Eddie.." Rylee mumbled
"What the hell p-p-put the map back!" Bill yelled
"Uh uh." Eddie said shaking his head
The projector clicked, on its own. Everyone's attention turned to the projector now. Eddie moved closer to Rylee, and grabbed her hand.
"What happened?"
"What's going on?!"
The projector continued clicking through photos of the Denbroughs, smiling and happy. Rylee and Bills eyes watered when they saw a picture of the Denbroughs all holding hands in front of church. The projector continued clicking and zoomed into Georgies face.
"Georgie.." Bill and Rylee mumbled quietly, at the same time.
The projector started clicking rapidly, the picture now zooming into Mrs. Denbroughs hair covered face, clicking until all the hair moved out of her face and the clowns face was there.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!" Richie yelled
"A CLOWN YOU DUMB SHIT!" Rylee yelled at her brother
"That's It!" Bill yelled over the bickering twins
"What the fuck is that?! What the FUCK is that?!?" Richie continued to yell
"I don't fucking know!!" Eddie yelled
"It's a clown you dumbasses." Rylee yelled at them
"No shit Rylee!"
"turn it off! TURN IT OFF!"
"Turn it off!!!"
The kids all screamed at Bill to turn it off, but he stayed frozen, staring at the screen, looking at the clowns face in the picture. Mike had enough of it and kicked the projector down, the light still shining at the wall.
The projector clicked again, a blurry photo of the clown appearing, it clicked again, showing another blurry image of the clown, then everything stopped. Everything was quiet for a second, just a second.
The clown popped out again, but not on the screen, no, it was in the garage with them, smiling, showing its enormous, disgusting teeth.
Rylee dropped Eddies hand, moving backwards slowly
Eddie hadn't realized Rylee let go of his hand and ran towards Bill, Richie, Bill, Mike, and Ben "RUN STANLEY!"
And with that, Stanley ran over to where all the boys were, Beverly crawled towards the corner of the garage, the lights went out for a second, then turned on again, the clown was moving, not towards the boys, not towards Beverly, no. It was going straight towards Rylee.
The lights went out again and the boys struggled to open the garage door. Rylee backed into the wall behind her and slid down to the floor
The lights turned back on and the clown was right infront of Rylee, opening its mouth, then the lights went out again "NO" Richie screamed
"RYLEE" everyone screamed at the same time
The lights turned on again and the clown had moved and was now grabbing Rylees arm and smiling wide, Rylee screamed, loud.
The garage door finally opened and the clown had disappeared, Rylee was breathing heavily, as was everyone else, they were all scared, but what Rylee just saw, wouldn't be leaving her mind anytime soon.
"Rylee!" Richie yelled and ran to his sister, who was still on the floor, shaking
Richie gave his sister a hug and calmed her down, while Beverly gave Ben and Bill hugs,
"It saw us! It knows where we are!" Eddie shrieked
"Could you keep it down?! Do you NOT see my sister right now?!" Richie yelled
"I'm fine, Rich." Rylee said, standing up and walking towards the group, Richie following closely behind her
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Richie. I'm sure." She rolled her eyes
In all honesty, she was still a little scared, but she didn't feel like showing it, not after freaking out infront of them all.
"I'm sorry, Ry." Eddie mumbled and hugged the girl, she hugged back for a few seconds then let go
"It always k-knew, Ed's. So, l-l-let's go." Bill continued the conversation they were having earlier
"Go? Go where?" Ben asked
"Neibolt. T-That's where Georgie is." Bill stated
Rylee nodded and walked towards her bike, picking it up and standing next to Bill
"After that?! Rylee, you really wanna go try to find that thing after it almost just killed you?!" Stanley yelled
"It's to help Georgie! In case you haven't noticed, I miss the damn kid. I'll do anything if it means I get to see him again." Rylee told the group.
The truth is, the only people who believe Georgie is still alive, are Bill and Rylee. The others know he's dead, but those two refuse to believe he really died.
"Guys, It's summer! We should be outside." Richie complained
"We are outside.." Rylee mumbled
"If your s-say it's summer one more f-f-fucking time.." Bill didn't finish his sentence, he just got on his bike and started peddling down to Neibolt, Rylee right behind him.
"Bill, Rylee! Wait!" Beverly yelled after the two, but they didn't stop. Beverly turned to the rest of the losers, "Well?"
"I ain't letting my sister get herself killed." Richie mumbled and grabbed his bike

Gateway
An archaeologist by the name of Søren Quinn wakes up elsewhere after boarding a plane for Iceland. Now he has to come to terms with a significant loss of recent memory and his apparent death and rebirth, provided he can survive the rigors of the Tutorial on Gateway Station and whatever waits for him after the Tutorial. Updates. When I can... sorry. Author's Note. Gateway is a portal/isekai style GameLit novel, but it has two main lead characters and will eventually have a small cast of minor lead characters to support them. There will be small elements of base building / kingdom management added as well over time, but they will not be the focus. Gateway really is a slow burn that takes some time to get going unfortunately, but I hope you find it's worth the wait. Thank you! p.s. Book One is finally done (only needed one more chapter unfortunately...) but I'm off hiatus now and will be starting on Book Two right away!
