《Future Dynasty》Lecture Fourteen

Frankly I don't think I've ever ran so fast in my life.
As soon as me and River stood up we took off along the top of the containers not caring about the noise we left in our wake. We needed to stop that truck and we needed to stop it now.
Shouts could be heard down below, they screaming at us to get down and stop. Not moments after that bullets started to fly our way but we were too far ahead and they wouldn't be able to reach us at this angle.
Both me and River jumped skilfully from one container to the next without breaking stride. River had managed to pull out his phone in our rush and made a call.
"Get the guys down at the docks now! Stop as many of them as you can, me and Kennedy are going after the truck!"
As we got to the last of the containers I didn't think twice as I jumped from the top of it making sure to tuck and roll. We didn't have time to spare using the wooden pallets to get down.
With River close on my heels I pulled my helmet out from under a bush and threw River his as he caught it with one hand.
"Look I don't have to time to explain just fucking do as your told and get them to the docks!"
River hung up and all and shoved his phone back on his jacket pocket zipping it back up. Throwing his helmet on he climbed on his bike as I waited for him reeving my engine.
"Hey! Stop right there!"
Three of the men that had been chasing us were finally making ground but they were out of time.
"We don't have time to go around."
River voice echoed in my helmet shocking me slightly and for a moment I forgot about the device that connected our helmets remotely so we were able to talk to each other. It was something my mom had created when she realised I much preferred bikes over cars.
River must have activated them from his side.
"Then we don't, let's just cut right through them."
Reeving my engine I leaned forward on my bike. There wasn't a big enough gap between the containers for a car but our bikes would easily get through those gaps.
The men started to pull out their guns and I knew in that moment we needed to go or this situation could get a whole lot worse.
Spinning my bike around I kicked up the dirt from the ground and took off to my left going in between the first set of containers. We would be able to catch up with that truck in no time this way but we needed to stay out of the way of those men.
Being on bikes was an advantage and disadvantage in these situations. Easier to get through places a car would find impossible and easier to hide. The down side was the fact if they started shooting at us like those men planned then we were in trouble.
Trusting myself I blasted my bike down in between the containers, trusting that I wouldn't put one foot wrong.
One mistake and it could equal a big problem.
Ahead of us I watched a man stand in our path and raise his gun. There wasn't enough room to go around on either side of him.
"Shit."
Changing gear I pushed myself lower trying to get as close to my bike as possible. I needed to try and make it as hard as possible for him to get me on this straight. There was a corner coming up between the containers and I just needed to take it before he could cause me any serious damage.

The sound of the gun rang through my ears before I could feel the actual pain. My left arm stung and I was both relieved and pissed at the fact he had just grazed my arm.
He had let off three shots but I wasn't going to let him make anymore. The corner would mean that I would have to slow down my bike to take it but I was pissed off at what had just happened.
Pressing my bike even faster I headed straight for him.
"Kennedy, I hope you know what you're doing." Came River's voice through my helmet but he sounded amused. He knew what was going through my mind and approved off it.
The man in front of me started panicking obviously torn between firing again and moving. The second he realised I wasn't for slowing he dived out of the way in between two of the other containers.
More importantly, out of my path.
As we broke out into the open of the docks men were running about grabbing their weapons and what ever else they could find. I had no interest in them and I just forced my way in between them.
Soon enough the men River had sent would be here and they could deal with them.
Right now we needed to get that truck.
As me and River finally got out onto the main road we sped for about half a mile before River's voice rang through my helmet.
"Where the fuck is it?"
"It must have turned down a side road, one of those men must have gotten ahold of the driver to give them a heads up."
Frustration ran through my veins and my mind started to run wild. There was no way in hell I was letting these guys get ahead of me.
Suddenly it came to me.
There was a handful of roads that lead from here to the City from small back alley roads to the two main roads. The only thing was that they always lead to the same place. To get into the City you had to cross over one of the bridges that connects the City with the rest of the world. It was just a matter of which one.
The driver would want to get into the City as quickly as possible meaning he would be heading towards the nearest one. He was probably confident that he could lose us on one of these many roads anyway so he wouldn't be thinking ahead.
We didn't need to catch up to him, we just needed to get ahead of him.
"This way."
Not waiting for River's response I took off down the road once more. There was hardly any cars on the road at this time so I was able to weave in and out without a problem.
Cars honked and flashed their lights our way as we blazed past them at high speeds. Before we could even register the sound though we were long out of their sights.
Once the bridge was in sight I started to slow until we came to a complete stop. We stopped a few meters off the road so that we were hidden in the shadows.
River stopped beside me and pulled up his visor. Turning off my bike I swung my leg over it pulling out the gun earlier that River had given me. The other one was still tucked under my jacket.
"What are you doing?" He asked as I jumped on the back of his bike getting comfortable as I rested my left hand on his shoulder.

"That truck isn't going to stop for anything even more so when he sees us. We need to get onto that truck if we want to stop it."
River instantly caught on to what I was saying and looked at me with a grin on his face. There was a dangerous glint in his eye like he could read my thoughts.
"You're crazy you know that right?"
Clicking the safety off my gun I gave him a grin right back. "Of course I am, you do know who my parents are right?"
"Sounds like you've gotten over what ever it was that was beating you up." His statement was so casual but it still caught my off guard. In fact I had grabbed his shoulder tighter and when I finally noticed I released my grip quickly.
"You noticed that?" My voice was neutral as I spoke trying not to give anything away.
"Please we grew up together. I would be able to tell from another country when something is wrong with you."
He was right the two of us could always tell when something was up with the other.
"Stalker." Was my only response making us both laugh.
Before anything else could be said the truck caught our attention. It wasn't hard to miss, it was driving well over the speed limit and was basically driving in the middle of the road.
"Ready?" Asked River as he pushed the visor back down and reeved his engine. Nodding I wrapped my left arm around his waist as I kept the gun in my right. We kept low until the truck past us and then River took off after it.
My adrenaline was running through my body and I couldn't help but smile in my excitement. This was the type of situations I lived for and it was something I knew I always wanted to do.
It was no secret that I would probably never be able to think like my mom and I probably wouldn't ever rule like my dad. That didn't mean I couldn't be my own person and become something just as dangerous as them.
It didn't take long before River was riding right along side the truck. We didn't have much time it wouldn't be long before he noticed that we were here.
As River got us closer to the cabin of the truck I stood up on the back of the bike. My hand moved from River's waist to his shoulder to make sure the both of us were able to keep our balance.
Knowing I'd need both hands for this I had no choice but click the safety back on my gun and put it back down the waist of my jeans. The only reason I had it in the first place was in case we weren't able to get this close.
Just as I was about to jump the truck swerved our way making River react quickly. My heart was in my throat as it took everything in me to keep my balance with the bike.
Before the truck was able to do it again though River swerved right back to where to were and I didn't think twice as I jumped.
Using both hands I grabbed ahold of the metal bar at the side of the door. Once my footing was settled on the step I tried to open the door only to realise it was locked. Reaching around I grabbed my gun.
The truck was swerving more and more as the driver seemed to realise the situation he was in. Using my gun I fired a bullet to smash the glass off the window.
"You bitch!" The sound of the mans voice ringing the air was like music to my ears.
Quickly reaching around I quickly aimed my gun but the man was quicker as he grabbed my arm and stopped my movements. I had no choice but to drop the gun and reach in through the smashed window.
Grabbing ahold of the steering wheel I sharply pulled it to the left almost throwing the truck completely of balance. The man had to let go of my arm and put both his hands back on the wheel to get the truck under control.
This was my chance reaching in I opened the door from the inside and quickly pulled myself back as I opened the door. The man kicked out at me but I quickly slammed the door on his knee before he was able to do anything.
He cried out in pain and satisfaction crossed my face.
Mentally preparing myself for a struggle I opened the door again and this time I made my aim to get in.
Putting one of my hands on the wheel I tried to distract him from my movements.
"Are you fucking crazy?!" Shouted the man as we fought over the wheel for the truck and for a moment I agreed with him.
This truck could probably tip at any point with the sharp movements I was making.
With one hand on the wheel I quickly reached around and grabbed my other gun. Clicking off the safety I held it to the mans head who completely froze.
"I win."
Pulling the trigger I tried to block out the imagine of the blood going everywhere before I pulled the man out of the cabin of the truck.
Slamming the door closed I tried to wipe my face down with my jacket sleeve but I didn't get much time.
Right behind me was four cars and they didn't look one bit happy as they started to drive up either side of the truck.
Hearing gun shots I looked out my right mirror to see River trying to throw off the two cars on the that side.
Looking to my left I seen the other two cars and swerved the truck their way. The sharply moved out of the way as quickly as possible.
Looking in front of me I could see that we were almost across the bridge that brought us into the City. Once we were on the other side there would be nothing they could do to stop me.
River had already gave the guys a head up about what was going down and I was sure my older brother had Draven follow the mayhem with the cameras.
Shots were fired and I ducked out of the way as the bullet hit the passenger window. I didn't want to swerve to the right knowing that River was on that side of the truck.
It seemed I didn't need to worry about it as River fired back hitting the car right in the tire. The car had no choice but to stop or something worse would happen.
Swerving to my left I tried to keep those cars as far away from the front of the truck as possible.
A few seconds later we finally made it over the bridge and that's when I seen them.
Up ahead was a barrier of cars with a few people standing in front and for a moment I panicked.
For a second I thought they were the police but as I creeped closer I was able to get a better view under the street lights.
Standing in the middle of them all was my older brother.
Reagan Kennedy.
Looking in my mirrors the cars seemed to notice this as well and were starting to make their get away. For the first time in what seemed to be a long time I let out a breath of relief.
River who had pulled ahead of me stopped right in front of my brother and a few seconds later I stopped.
Taking a moment I leaned back in the chair and closed my eyes. My body was full of adrenaline and I knew I was never going to get it relax anytime soon.
When my eyes finally opened my sight connected with my older brother.
Reagan was very much our parents son. With his almost back hair and electric blue eyes you could never deny who he was or what he stood for. His sharp features looked amused as he took in the sight of me and the corner of his lips creeped into that infamous smirk.
My brother was a force to be reckoned with and everyone knew it.
With the mind like our moms and the leadership like our dads there was no chance of me ever overtaking him.
"Looks like you've being having fun little sister." His voice was low and deep as he spoke and for a moment I didn't know what to say or think.
There wasn't time for me to respond though because two seconds later another car pulled up behind me.
This one looked different from the others and I instantly knew why. It was an undercover cop car.
As I jumped out of the cabin of the truck River came to my side and Reagan walked a few steps closer to the car. The other men were on high alert waiting for what ever order my brother would give.
Suddenly someone who I thought I would never see again got out of the car.
"Daniella Martinez." The name came out so smoothly from my brothers lips I was just as shocked as Daniella was. She looked like a deer caught in headlights the second her eyes landed on him.
For a second I could see the conflict in her eyes put slowly she pulled out her gun clearly noticing the guns that the other men held. My brother though didn't hold anything but that didn't mean he wasn't a threat.
My brother was always a threat.
"Reagan, step away from the truck." Her voice came out with confidence but I knew she was anything but as she pointed the gun in my brothers direction.
Reagan though didn't look one bit worried as he glanced at the gun and then back to her slowly. Sighing he held up his hands but surprisingly started to walk towards her.
He looked bored by the whole situation something that I was well used to seeing on my mom when she was the one in control of the situation.
Right when he was right in front of her he simple knocked the gun out of her hand taking it as his own. She didn't even seem to put up a fight in front of him.
I had worked out a while ago that the two of them definitely knew each other but it clearly ran a lot more deeper than that.
The two men that were with her pointed their guns at him but my brothers men just pointed their at them.
They were outnumber and out armed.
My brother took the bullets out of Daniella's gun and threw it back to her which she easily caught. Some sort of silent message seemed to pass between the two of them before my brother turned around.
"Get out of here Daniella before I change my mind."

The American Dream: An Alternate, Time-Travel Timeline
Due to a mysterious transcendent being, United States Marine Corps First Lieutenant Samuel Kim from the year 2016 is thrown back in time to the year 1775. To make matters worse, he wakes up near Bunker Hill, mere hours before the famed Battle of Bunker Hill is set to begin. Realizing the unique situation he finds himself in, the lieutenant takes the opportunity to change the fate of the battle and ensure an overwhelming American victory. Guided by his "patronizing" "God" and the American revolutionaries, Lieutenant Kim embarks on a journey to help America gain its independence and to ensure the nation uphold its "most promising" ideals from the very beginning. Author's Warning: The story is very rough in the first few chapters (and as some readers pointed out, some parts are laughable, such as "American idealism"). However, the pace and quality of the story improves from chapter four and onwards. You will enjoy the story if you have some interest in history, worldbuilding, and the butterfly effect (along with a few badass characters). So even if you are a bit turned off in the beginning, I promise that the story improves quickly.

8 157Wild Steam
Get on a train. Head east. Get on a ship. Travel further east, in style. See some wonders of the world. Find what was lost. Find where home is. How hard is any of that?Well, for Jake Ranger, pretty damned hard. The world being a wild, crazy mess from a global altering event called the Shattering doesn’t help much. Nor does being a famous folk hero. That last one really sucks, because people always run up to famous heroes and beg them for help with all their problems. Then there are the actual outlaws and monsters. They don’t help much either. Mostly they just get in the way and make everything way worse. And in a world that is so screwed up decades after the Shattering, there is a lot of variety to both outlaw and monster. Then there are the more civilized, (read: sane), non-human folk, and good old humans as well. They all get along just spectacularly. Totally best friends, on every level, for life. Of course getting to the east coast is only half the battle. Once there, he must contend with the so-called “civilized people.” Then there’s the ship ride; pirates and sea monsters are a thing too, after all. Should have read the brochure. But when the chips are down, the bad guys are winning and the wild winds of chaos are blowing, it helps to have a fighter on your side. Even if he is a little wild. After all, that’s not really a problem. That’s what beautiful women and lots of gold is for. Proper motivation is always key to success. Welcome to a Steampunk, Wild West, Victorian era, Lovecraftian infested, fantasy, shoot ‘em up world. Complete with a slow build harem of badass beautiful women, crazy adventures, and fun, monstrous villains. Welcome to the world of Wild Steam. Do enjoy your stay.
8 198Gray's Crucible
“The value you have brought to trade is immense, more than a thousand fold what any other traveler to Crucible has ever produced. More than even I produced during my journey.” The old man paused for a moment here, seemingly reluctant to continue. After a few seconds he begins again with weariness creeping into his voice. “As the Messenger of Crucible I have received the value of your life. You shall be awarded a body with potential equaling the value you have brought to this place in accordance with the laws of the higher realms. Now you shall depart for Crucible, but first; I, Jaze, will give you some advice.” The old man, Jaze, he had named himself paused a time. Time enough that Gray began to wonder if he was still present, when he suddenly continued in a low and serious tone, “You will undoubtedly have great potential Gray of Earth, but it is still only potential. What could be is not necessarily what will be. If you step foolishly in my world, if you can not live up to the potential you have bartered for, Crucible will crush you mercilessly and tear away your very soul.” A thought, cheerful and light was heard from Gray before his presence was sent rocketing away like a shooting star. “I’m looking forward to it.”
