《Future Dynasty》Lecture Twelve

"Well don't you two look like death."
Looking up I seen my brother Levi looking down at me and River. We were both sitting at the lunch table but our food was long forgotten about and River was leaned over the table sleeping. I had been playing with his hair without thinking out of habit.
"If your going to be annoying please just fuck off." Came my smooth reply as I continued to scroll through my phone without actually paying much attention to it.
My head was banging and there was a few times this morning when I didn't even think I was going survive through my classes. Thankful the sick feeling left after a while and I was just left with a head that hated me.
Levi sat across from me with his hands raised letting me know he was here in peace. "Reagan was looking you last night he came by the house."
At the sound of Reagan's name River's head shot up out of curiosity making my hand drop from his hair.
Frowning I looked at my twin brother. "Reagan? Why didn't he just try ringing me?"
Levi shrugged and started to dig into his food. "He just said he'd find you another time. He was coming home anyway to talk to mom." Then Levi let out a scoff in thought. "Actually it was probably more along the lines of mom made him come home."
Mom calling Reagan home like that was never going to be a good sign.
"Was he still at the house when you left this morning?"
"Yea." Nodded Levi has he took another bite of his burger. "I overheard him and mom talking last night for a second I think he'll be staying in the house for a while."
From I had been at the F.B.I headquarters I had been wanting to talk to my older brother. Something about that agent called Daniella, she definitely knew my brother in some shape or form. Then I looked at my twin brother realising that I hadn't asked him.
Leaning forward I started to eat the food off my brothers plate knowing it would piss him off. I was distracting him, making sure he didn't think into what I was going to ask him next to much. "Do you know a woman called Daniella Martinez?"
Levi slapped my hand away from his plate but I just kept going back for more with a smile of amusement on my face. "Yea, well I think so. Reagan used to have a friend called Daniella I met her once when Reagan brought me to one of my football games when I was younger. He brought me because dad was away. Why?"
"No reason." Shrugging like it was no big deal I finally pulling away from him plate. "I just overheard someone mention the name the other day and it just sounded familiar."
"I was thirteen when I met her, though the two of them seemed to be too close just to be friends in my opinion."
With his comment his eyes trailed down to were I was once again playing with River's hair. River had lost all attention at my questioning and went back to sleep. I hadn't even released what I was doing until my brother gave me a pointed look. I shifted uncomfortably but I didn't move my hand away knowing that would make me look more like a culprit.
"You were thirteen, holding hands is a big deal when your that age." I remarked brushing his comment off as well as I could.

My brother scoffed and rolled his eyes going back to his food. "What ever you say."
"River." Looking up I noticed it was Ezra who had called out to his brother as he started to make his way over to us.
Finally he made his way through the crowd to us and gave me a quick look before looking down at his younger brother. Pulling out the chair beside River he sat down and leaned in closer to him.
River wasn't actually asleep we all knew that, he was always watching his surrounding. As much as River tried to act like whatever Ezra was about to say didn't bother him, I knew his full attention was on his brother.
Ezra leaned in close so that he could whisper something in River's ear. As much as I tried to I couldn't hear what he was saying over the loud chattering in the lunch hall. Me and Levi shared a look but my brother just shrugged not really caring and going back to his food.
Suddenly River sighed and sat up straight making my hand once again drop from his hair and trail down his back. He shared a look with his brother who just nodded with a tight jaw. After a few more seconds River stood up not looking one bit pleased about whatever Ezra had said.
"Where are you going?" I asked out of curiosity as Ezra started to make his way out of the lunch hall.
Turning towards me River planted a kiss on my forehead before leaning down to my ear. "I'll see you later Kennedy."
And just like that he started to follow in his brothers tracks. The crowd parted for him a lot easier than it did for his brother. Sometimes it amazed me just how much respect he had in this school.
"Something you want to tell me." Asked Levi as he pointed a fry in the direction that River had just left and then back to me.
Sighing I started to eat off my brother's tray once again hoping to distract him. "What are you talking about?"
The tone of my voice told my brother that this wasn't something I wanted to talk about but clearly he didn't get the hint.
"The two of you have been oddly touchy feely lately."
Scoffing I sat back on my chair giving up on trying to distract my brother. "What are you five? We grew up together of course we're going to be more comfortable around each other."
My brother didn't need to know what happened with me and River at some points in life.
He already said he was scared for life over the other guys he knows that I've been with. Never mind someone he was close to as well.
Actually never mind Levi finding out, Reagan would probably downright murder River.
Suddenly my mind went back to what had happened only moments ago. I couldn't help but sit forward again making my brother protect his food out of reflex.
"Where do you think they went?"
My brother shrugged not really showing any interest in the conversation now. Me and Levi had very different thoughts when it came to the crime side of our family. Levi wanted nothing to do with it, while I on the other hand wanted to do nothing but prove to my parents that I could handle it.
"Don't know, don't care." My brothers voice had become flat as he spoke about the subject and I knew this was going to happen.

Rolling my eyes I let out a low groan of annoyance as I sat back in my seat. "Why are you always so annoying when it comes to this topic?"
"Well I just don't see why you are always trying to get yourself in the middle of it." Countered my brother and I knew I was getting a raise out of him.
If there was one thing in this world I knew how to do, it was to annoy my twin brother.
"You've got to admit dads world is far more exciting than moms."
"Yea, to get yourself killed." Whispered Levi under his breath harshly making sure others couldn't hear us.
"So you're telling me that all you want in life is to have business meeting with old men who just care about when their next bonus is?"
He must be joking if he thought that was the most exciting thing he was looking forward to.
Levi though sent a glare my way. "We both know mom does more than just that."
He was right I did know. My mom had changed this City for the better and without her the City probably wouldn't have half the shit it has right now.
Thanks to her, unemployment was at an all time low and everyone in the City had their place. If someone wanted to learn or try something new my mom had set up the schemes to help them on their way.
That was only 1% of what she has done in this City and it was still growing.
This City had benefited a hundred times over thanks to my mom and I knew not just anybody could do that.
That side of my mom wasn't the side I was interested in though. I was interested in the other side, the side that went up against the Myers family like they were a joke.
That was the side I wanted to know more about.
Suddenly some of our other friends sat down and I could see the relief on Levi's face knowing we couldn't talk about this anymore. As the minutes ticked by the more I released something.
I wasn't like them.
They were too busy talking about the latest gossip going around school and planning the next prom. All things that probably a normal teenager would care about but if I was being completely honest.
I really couldn't give a shit.
They said everyone matures in different ways and at different ages. Now that I was sitting here and listening to our friends, properly listening to them. I realised just how true that really was.
Thinking about River and Ezra and how they were always dealing with things that people our age couldn't dream off. Looking at my twin brother I realised that we might be twins but we weren't the same when it came to this kind of stuff.
The two of us might be smart but we were smart in two completely different ways.
Glancing around the lunch hall it was like everything was hitting me all at once. Through the laughter I could see the way my mom had looked at Evan Myers that night. How she had played him like he was nothing more than a game piece on a board.
How River and Ezra were already so deep in that life that the only reason that they were even still in school was because of me and my siblings. There had been numerous times when I've seen River after a fight looking like their was nothing else that could make him feel so alive.
Something that both me and him shared.
It was the adrenaline of that world that kept us alive and it was something that I so desperately needed. It was like a drug, the second I had my first fix I was hooked and now I knew there was no turning back from that.
"Layla." Snapping out of my racing thought my eyes clashed with one of the football players that were sitting at our table. He was grinning at me and I realised that he must have said something.
"What?" My tone was bored already knowing that what ever he was going to say was going to piss me off.
When I say these ones were our friends they were more Levi's. He had been on the football team since freshman year and frankly I gave him credit, he was good at it.
It ran through our blood after all. Our uncle was one of the most famous footballers around. He might be retired now but the world still whispered his name.
Something that I was sure was helping Levi out.
"I heard you and Jason had fun last night" He moved his eyebrows up and down insinuating something. For a moment I was confused but then it hit me.
That guy last night that I had fun with earlier in the day.
In all honesty I hadn't even learnt his name before it all.
Leaning forward I rested my chin on the palm of my hand and I noticed how my brother was watching me carefully.
This wasn't a good situation for anyone, never mind Jason.
Levi must have seen the wicked grin on my face because he leaned forward and called out to me in warning. "Layla, don't."
But of course ignored my twin brother, my temper was getting the better of me.
My temper could work in one of two ways. The classic losing my shit and hitting whatever was closest to me and the calm type of temper.
The kind that let you say or do what ever the fuck you wanted and you didn't give a shit what happens next.
That was the type of temper I thrived on and something I had gotten from my dad.
"Please, do tell me what he's said?" I said in my sickly sweet voice. The football player clearly didn't catch on to my tone and went on anyway. My brother on the other hand already knew where this was going to go.
"He said you were a good lay and all you did was scream his name the whole time." The football team snickered like a bunch of little girls making me roll my eyes. "Said that it was easy to get you to do what ever he wanted."
Judging from Levi's face he was not one bit pleased about hearing about this. After all he was my brother and frankly he looked ready to die.
Me on the other hand just wanted to laugh.
Jason, has just made the biggest mistake of his fucking life.
He literally just handed me all the power without thinking.
My earlier thoughts were proven to be true. I really wasn't on the same level as these ones.
I was on a completely different level that they couldn't even imagine.
"The whole schools talking about it." Snickered another cheerleader who looked like she had spent all day wanting to say that to me.
With a smile I stood up from my seat and the whole lunch hall seemed to freeze and watch. I could see on everyone's faces that they expected me to storm out.
They were waiting for me to run away from the rumours but that wasn't my style and frankly they should know that.
With a sigh of boredom I stood up on the chair and then finally the table. I watched as Levi put his head in his hands knowing where this was going.
Letting out a loud clap everyones attention snapped to me and I could feel every single pair of eyes staring right back at me. From this height I was able to clearly see Jason sitting at the end of the long table. Judging from everyone else's faces most of them knew the rumour by now which would make this a whole lot easier.
"Ladies and Gentlemen-"
"Oh God." I heard my brothers voice say in the background.
"-I have been made aware of a lovely rumour going around about me."
"Yea, you and Jason." Came a loud voice from a random boy in the crowd. I just grinned and pointed at him like he had just answered the million dollar question.
"Yes, me and Jason. How did you ever guess?" I asked with fake shock making the whole lunch hall let out a laugh.
Then I went on and this is where my words would start to get dangerous.
"I would like to thank Jason for the amazing comments he's made about me." Holding one hand over my heart I then point my other hand towards Jason. "He said I was a good lay, now who doesn't want to hear that they're good in bed."
Once again the whole lunch hall laughed and I started to walk along the table. People moved their trays out of the way as I walked past them, everyone's attention still fully on me.
"There is some things I would like to correct though, of course if you would all let me." My voice was still sweet as I looked down at the football players who nodded eagerly, clearly wanting to see where this was going to go.
"The floor is all yours Kennedy." Remarked one of the football players and I recognised that he was the captain. "Or in this case the table."
Squatting down in front of the captain I gave him a grin as I stole his baseball cap. "Why thank you kind sir."
Putting the hat on my head I started to make my way slowly down the table once more.
"First thing I would like to make clear. Is the fact that I couldn't have been screaming out Jason's name, when for a fact I didn't even know his name till two minutes ago." A round of oh's went around the lunch hall and a bunch of snickering as they whispered among each other.
But I wasn't done.
"Second thing I would like to make clear is the fact that he said I was 'easy to get me to do what ever he wants'. Now-" I said clapping my hand to make sure I had their attention which I was sure I had before it anyway. "I'm hardly going to lie, I'm willing to try anything maybe once-"
"Ok, I'm out." Spoke my brother clearly not wanting to hear anymore of his sister sex life.
Not that I could blame him, I'd probably leave to if it was the other way around.
"-after all, life to short to do the same thing over and over again." Finally I came to a stop in front of Jason who to say looked uncomfortable would be the understatement of the year.
But I didn't care.
He did this to himself.
"But what I would like to make very clear about that part is this." Squatting down in front of Jason I gave him a wicked grin. "Frankly, he didn't seem know what he was doing and it was me showing him what to do. For a guy that brags about his 'conquests' I was expecting a hell of a lot more from 'little' Jason here."
The lunch hall erupted into a loud cheer and I couldn't help but notice some of the cheerleaders snicker.
"Layla!" I knew the principles voice from anywhere but it had no effect on me. One of the teachers must have ran and got him. "Get off that table right now!"
Holding out my finger I let the principle know to give me a second not once taking my eyes off Jason's. "One second."
"You're going to regret this." Growled out Jason and I couldn't help but grin at him which just seemed to piss him off even more.
Good.
"No you're going to regret ever fucking with me." And I whispered close to him so that only he could here. "Both literally and figuratively."
"Layla Kennedy!!"
"Yea yea." I shouted back to the principle standing straight back up on the table. I gave Jason a warning look before jumping off the table and walking towards the principle who grabbed me by the arm.
I didn't care, Jason got what was coming to him and I was done with this place.

8 87Legacy: A wolf's tale
Follow Akascha as she goes from a beast of burden to a lovely (well more like a slightly belligerent) young woman! Note. This is a shory story (about 25.000 words) I wrote a while back in high school. Therefore, the range and depth of the story might be a bit lacking, but I wanted to share it with you anyway now that I discovered RR. Although I would love comments or constructive criticisme (as one can always learn), be aware that I have - at this point in time - no plans of rewriting this story. Thank you and I hope you enjoy! Oh and before I forget! The first chapter is rather short, but the rest of the chapters will make up for it.
