《Future Dynasty》Lecture Three

Looking down over the railing of the second floor I could see Payton and she had cornered my younger sister. Emilia's back was pressed against the lockers with her school books pressed tightly to her chest.
The whole first week of school Payton had been a pain in the ass to my brother and now it seemed she had moved onto Emilia. Levi wasn't giving her the time of day and there was clearly no chance he was taking her her back. So she was doing the only thing that she thought was still within her power.
Bullying the youngest of the Kennedy siblings.
There was two mistakes with her choice but one of them she was going to find out very soon.
"Shouldn't you be down there helping her?"
Looking to my right I seen River come over to the railing and leaned his back against it. He was looking over his shoulder at the scene but he too didn't make a move to help.
We both knew what my younger sister was more than capable off.
Payton just had to make the wrong move.
Down the hall two other people caught my eye. Ezra, River slightly older brother entered through the front doors of the school along side Asher.
Asher was the same age as Emilia and was also the youngest Knight sibling. The two of them had grown up together and had been best friends since they were born.
When we were all younger we used to tease them that the two of them would end up together but the older they got the more we seen that wasn't true. They were best friends and had no feelings like that at all for each other. Both of them were more like brother and sister.
Asher's dark hair was curly unlike his brothers. A style that suited him well with the sides cut short and a mop of curls on top. I could see why Asher had many of the freshmen falling at his feet. His deep green eyes were the same as River's but they were more boyish than River's. They were the type of eyes that could get him out of any trouble.
Anger came over Asher's features when he seen what was going down with Payton and Emilia. When he went to take a step forward though Ezra placed his hand on his younger brothers shoulder stopping him.
There was a grin on Ezra's face as he leaned down slightly to whisper something into his brothers ear. Soon Asher's anger was replaced with amusement.
"We both know Emilia can handle herself." Pushing myself away from the railing I stood up straight. Never once did I take my eyes off Payton and Emilia. "Plus it looks like your brothers are ready for a show as well."
Rivers arm brushed against my own as he pushed himself off the railing too and faced the commotion head on.
"True." He agreed but then he looked at me with amusement. "But what I want to know is once Emilia is done dealing with her, what is it you're going to do?"
Stretching out my arms in front of me my lips turned up at the corners. "What ever do you mean Rivy?"
Rivers amusement didn't leave but he did roll his emerald green eyes at me and cross his tattooed arms. He hated it when I called him Rivy but it was something he had given up on a long time ago. Though I did fear the day someone else other than me called him that. Ezra had made the mistake of calling him it one day and let's just say there was a big bust up in the middle of school.

Before either one us could make another comment Payton made her move. Payton pushed my sisters shoulder but my sister was quicker.
Dropping the books at her feet Emilia grabbed Payton's arm that rested on her shoulder and twisted it. I couldn't help but let out a laugh as Payton slammed into the front of the lockers where Emilia once stood. Her arm was twisted behind her back by my sister and by the look of Payton's face she wasn't expecting it at all.
Payton tried to get out Emilia's grip but it was no use. The more Payton struggled the more pressure Emilia put on her arm. If Emilia wanted to she could easily break Payton's arm in that position.
"Clearly you've been teaching her some new moves." River said impressed.
"Of course." I remarked proudly as I watched my sister roll her eyes at what ever it was that Payton had said.
Emilia whispered something back and with one final shove into the lockers she let go of Payton's arm. If anyone else seen this exchange they wouldn't believe that a freshman had just put Payton in her place.
Emilia wasn't just any freshman though and Payton should've known that better than anyone.
Watching Payton as my sister picked up her books off the floor I could see the rage on her face. She went to inch closer to her and my eyes narrowed dangerously.
My sisters guard was clearly down and what ever it was Payton thought she was about to do was a cheep shot.
Letting out a loud fake cough Payton's eyes snapped up to me. Slowly her features went from rage to shock and she stopped edging closer to my sister instantly. My face though was deadly and held no sense of joking.
With what she thought she was about to do was crossing the line.
A line I wouldn't stand for.
"Hey Emilia." Asher's voice rang up to me and River. I could see him sending me and River a message as he walked closer to Emilia and Payton. Ezra was close behind him and he sent me and a River a nod too.
They were letting us know they had this under control.
Stepping back I moved away from the rail as I watched Payton start to make her escape. River eyed me carefully but the sense of entertainment never left him.
"Where are you going?"
"To deal with a problem." With one last look over the railing I could see Emilia talking away to Asher and Ezra like nothing had happened.
Not waiting around I started to make my way outside the school. It was home time so I knew where I would find Payton. Heading towards her car in the middle of the parking lot I could see her struggling to find her car keys in her school bag.
There wasn't many people left in the car park but the ones that were stopped what they were doing to look at me. I was on a mission and from the whispers that were going around they knew they were in for a show.
Payton must have found her car keys because she then unlocked her car and opened the drivers door. Stopping her in her tracks I threw my foot up and kicked the drivers door with so much force is slammed closed.
Looking shocked Payton looked at the dent in her Lamborghini.

"What the fuck!" She didn't realise who was standing in front of her until it was to late. As soon as her eyes clashed with mine I grabbed her by her jacket and threw her against the truck behind us.
Rage was running through my body now that she was standing in front of me. Her face when she was about to kicked my sister in the head as she leaned over picking up her school books crossed my head.
I was seeing red.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" I questioned lowly and I could see a crowd of people around us gathering.
They were the least of my problems. Not when I had someone standing in front of me who was trying to hurt my family just because she wasn't getting her way.
"Let go of me." Payton tried to get my grip of her jacket her long nails scratching my skin. The part of me that cared was long gone and the pain didn't even register in my brain.
"Not until you tell me why you think it's a good idea to go after my little sister." Stepping closer to her we were now squared up. Payton was actually a bit taller than me but you wouldn't think it the way she was trying cower away from me.
"She had it coming." Spat out Payton when she realised I wasn't for letting her go. "She's the reason Levi broke up with me."
"Layla?" Emilia's voice rang through the crowd and my eyes snapped over to her. Payton tried to take that opportunity to escape but I didn't let her move.
"That little bitch was the problem." Payton seethed over in Emilia's direction.
Emilia looked down at the ground as everyone's attention snapped to her. Emilia was cunning but she lacked the confidence the rest of us held. With everyone's attention on her I could see her starting to shy away.
Emilia whispered something and I wasn't able to hear over the sound of the crowd talking around us. River, Ezra and Asher heard though and I couldn't help but look at the boys with a frown when they started laughing and looked at Payton.
"Are you really blaming Emilia for what you did." Ezra's voice was lacing with amusement as he laughed out loud. He stood in front of Emilia along side River to block Emilia from the view of all the peering eyes and Payton's.
My eyes snapped up to River for the answer knowing Ezra would drag this out for his own entertainment.
"Shorty here told her brother that she caught Payton cheating on him." River's eyes glinted with trouble with what he said next. "With the gym teacher Mr.Reed."
Payton reacted before I did. Which was both a good and bad move on her part. Grabbing onto my hair she pulled hard making my winch in pain. It was such girl move to make but I wasn't going to do the same dirty tricks. So throwing my arm back and forming a fist I punched her square in the face.
A loud cracking sound echoed through the parking lot and then the real mayhem started.
"You broke my nose!" Screamed Payton as she held onto her now busted nose. Blood was dripping everywhere and I couldn't help but welcome the satisfaction that came over me.
I had been wanting to do that for a long time.
"You fucking cheated on my brother and then dared threatened my sister over it." My voice was menacing as I looked at her and she flinched away.
"If she kept her mouth shut none of this would've happened." Her hands were covered in blood and I've never been happier.
"No if you kept your fucking legs closed and weren't such a crazy ass bitch none of this would've happened."
She dived for me and the both of us went crashing into the side of her car. Payton had caught me completely off guard and I could already hear my moms voice in my head.
She would be rolling her eyes at the sight of me being ruled by my emotions.
As I was on the ground she tried to throw a punch but she wasn't me and I was to quick for her. Stopping her punch easily I then flung my leg up and flipped us over. Instantly I could see the regret on her face at the situation she was now in.
All I could think about was what she had done to my brother and what she put my sister through. As I swung my arm back to throw another punch at her blood stained face I was pulled away.
"Let me go." I tried to kick out at Payton but I couldn't reach.
"Enough Layla." My brother pushed me back so that we were face to face but he looked ready to grab me again if I made a dive for her. "She isn't worth it."
"No but it sure as hell makes me feel a hell of a lot better."
"Layla." My brothers voice was low and warning as he spoke making me stop. "Have you forgotten who her family is."
Looking at Levi and then back at Payton who was lying on the floor I knew my brother was right. Giving Payton Myers a beating probably wasn't the best choice.
"Fine." I said letting my brothers sigh in relief.
Slowly I walked over to Payton and held my hand out to her to help her up. I could see the tension on my brothers face as he watched me carefully. He knew how wrong this could go right now.
River on the other hand had his arms crossed and was grinning at me. His eyes slowly trailed over me before looking back down at Payton.
"About time you remembered who I am." Payton voice rung in the air and you could've heard a pin drop from the silence.
She had just made the wrong move.
My hand that was once reaching out to her in peace now formed into a fist. Before anyone could grab ahold of me I swung once again and this time I caught her clean in the jaw.
If there was thing I had learnt about myself was that I didn't take after my mom completely. There was definitely my dads blood running through my veins too.

Trapped in a game with no rules, and surrounded by cutthroat players eager to kill for a quick windfall, Lily and her ragged band have no choice but to fight their way out, or die in a game that has turned all too real. Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though. Special thanks to Reaver and Ace Arriande for pushing me to get this going, and to all my fellow writers whom I've stolen from been inspired by. You're all wonderful people and I love you Quick reminder: Patrons get to read ahead of what's published! Also, try my other works: The Last Science — A Tale of Modern Magic Epilogue — A Post-Fantasy Psychodrama What are you still doing on the synopsis? Get to reading! A loose thread
The goddess picked him up. He tried to struggle free, but her grip only tightened. Eventually her thumb caught his head, pulling it backwards. He stared helplessly as she brought her free hand closer, revealing a small vial in her massive hand. She pressed it to his lips, and he felt the contents flow into him. He tried not to drink it, but his body would not listen. Despite his revulsion, his body ignored him by drinking deeply. "Drink and forget. I will give you everything you ever wanted. A loving family. A comfortable home. And then, " Her grip tightened, and forcing the air out his lungs. He coughed up the strange liquid and caused more to spill. “And then, you will pay for your defiance. On your twentieth birthday you will remember.” She pulled the vial away and turned him to look at her. “You will remember, just as everything you love is taken from you, right before your eyes…” Her voice trailed off and his world went dark. .... The above leads right into the story. The first chapter is a bit rough as the MC (a child at the time), hurts himself rather badly. I will try to include similar warnings on chapters as the story goes on, but I want to be up front that I may miss or forget things. Many of the tags are included so I can have flexibility writing the story. I am posting this largely to hold myself accountable to keep writing. Chapters will be short, but I am planning to post weekly. This is the first thing I have written (you've been warned). I am enjoying the story and I hope you will too. Please feel free to let me know what you think of the story as it progresses.
