《Future Dynasty》Lecture One

"Shit it's the cops, run!"

Silence fell over the room as we all froze at what we were doing. Sitting on the kitchen table with a drink just an inch away from my lips I had a front row seat on what was about to happen.

One second it was silent, the next it was pure mayhem as the teenagers all around me started to make their escape. Some made a run for the front door while others went through the back and even the windows.

By the time I downed the rest of my beer I sighed in annoyance. My plan for the night was to get seriously hammered and yet once again my plan was ruined and I already knew why.

Jumping down from the table I straightened out my short black skintight dress. The dress had revealed some of my tattoos. The tattoos on my left leg were ones that I had gotten on my sixteen birthday.

When you were the daughter of Riker Kennedy and Lyra Anderson it was a given that you would basically have them.

Yes, by the way my parents are married and my moms legal name is Kennedy but the world already knew her as Lyra Anderson. She had made that name into the power house that it is. When people hear the name Lyra Anderson they instantly knew who she was.

It never bothered my dad that she was still called Anderson. Saying that she could be called what ever she wanted to be called it didn't change the fact that she was his wife and that was all that mattered.

One thing was for sure, I've never met a couple quite like my parents.

Grabbing another beer bottle that hadn't yet been opened, I started to make my way out the back of the house slowly.

There was no rush, I could hear Dravan Carson talking to cops out in the hallway, clearly buying time for everyone. Not that there was many people left.

Dravan Carson was the son of my parents friends Zoe and Archer Carson. He is the same age as me and was skilled with a laptop that was for sure.

It wasn't the only thing he was skilled at.

"Who even reported the party?" Dravan's voice rang throughout the house clearly pissed off. Taking a swing of my beer as I opened the back door I already knew the answer to that question and so should he.

The commotion was left behind me when I closed the door over not even bothering to be quiet about it. The cops would be more interested in dealing with Dravan at this point.

It was probably the third time this month he had been busted by the cops.

When our parents get back from fuck knows where in Italy, Zoe was going to be pissed off at him that was for sure.

In fact I'm surprised she hadn't already called or made her face pop up on the tv again to give him a lecture right along side the cops.

Zoe sees everything, even when we didn't think she does.

Walking along the street with the beer bottle in one hand and my phone in the other, I looked at the time.

It was only ten o'clock.

My real aim was to enjoy this night before school started up again tomorrow. Looks like that was a bust and now I had to walk home in the dark.

Not that I was worried, this whole City knew who I was. They wouldn't dare get within five foot of me, and that one had nothing to do with my parents.

Well maybe it slightly did but I liked to think it was for another reason.

Slowly a car started to drive up beside me slowing down till it was at the same pace as my walk. From the corner of my eye I noticed the type of car straight away.

It was my twin brothers.

"What do you want little brother." Grinning I leaned down so that I could lean my arms on the car door where the window was down.

My brothers narrowed his electric blues eyes so that he was glaring at me. I couldn't help but roll my cloudy grey eyes back at him.

"Ok for a start-" His voice rang out loud and clear. "One, why the hell were you at Dravan's party? Two dad is going to kick your ass when he finds out you've been walking home alone again and three-"

I cut him off.

"How about you tell your asshole of a friend that if he didn't rat on Dravan because of what ever petty little fight they have going on at the moment I'd be just fine."

"Dravan actually ratted on him first." Levi unlocked the car doors so that I'd be able to get in. "They busted his party too about half an hour ago. Ezra was just repaying a favour."

Opening the passenger door I got comfortable in the seat as I put on my seatbelt. Once it was on my brother took off down the road heading home.

My phone started to ring in my hand and I looked down noticing it was our fourteen year old sister Emilia. Without thinking I answered and put her on speaker.

"Thought the golden child would be in bed right about now." I teased as Levi punched me in the arm for teasing the youngest Kennedy sibling.

"Layla!" Came my sisters panicked voice and for a moment I thought something was actually wrong with her. "What am I going to wear?"

"What?" This time it was Levi who responded looking down at my phone for a second before looking back at the road.

To say Levi was a little over protective of our younger sister would be an understatement.

"It's my first day of Highschool tomorrow and I don't have anything to wear for it. Everything I find just isn't good enough." Complained my sister like it wasn't the biggest problem in the world. "What are you going to wear?"

"Not sure but do I know I'll be wearing bags under my eyes if Levi doesn't speed it up and get us home."

Levi sent me a glare. "I'm sorry if I value my life more than you do."

Levi wasn't one to normally drive so slow in fact he was going below the speed limit which told me one of two things. He was doing it to be a pain in my ass or he was avoiding someone.

If I was to guess I would say it's the later because Levi had been on a mission to avoid someone for the last week.

"Here, Emilia." Levi's eyes snapped to me knowing I was up to something. My voice was childish as I called out to our younger sister.

"Yea?" Asked Emilia, I could hear that she actually stopped searching through her clothes for a second. She probably heard the same thing in my tone that Levi had heard.

"Is Payton there?"

"Oh yeaaaa." Emilia dragged out like she had just remembered something. "She showed up earlier asking where Levi was. When I told her he left to go to a party she didn't look to happy."

"Is that right?" I asked turning in my seat slightly so I was facing my brother more. "Where did you tell her you were Levi? Surely you didn't lie to the crazy ass bitch."

"Emilia!" Emilia'a name rang through the phone and I knew it was Payton. Nothing would ever compare to her voice in my mind.

The grin on my face couldn't have been any bigger as I watched my brother squirm in his seat.

"Is that your brother you're talking too?" Payton's voice questioned as she took in Emilia, she must have noticed the phone in her hand or heard her.

"Actually I'm talking to my sister." Emilia's voice was blunt as she spoke sounding almost like it was a chore to even talk to her. Emilia always covered for Levi when it came to Payton no matter what.

Emilia was the type of person that could get on with everyone.

Not Payton though.

"Let me talk to Layla." Payton's voice sounded rushed as she probably made a dive for Emilia. Payton knew I always knew where my twin brother was and what he was up to.

Didn't mean I would tell her.

Before Payton could even get to the phone, my own phone was snapped out of my hand. Levi had reached over to grab it to hang up.

"Hi!" I complained but not really caring as a laugh slipped through my lips. "I was having a conversation."

"No you weren't. You were about to play around with words, telling Payton the truth but in a way that she wouldn't understand. The last time you fucking did that she overthought so much she thought I was cheating on her."

"It's not my fault she couldn't keep up." Grabbing my phone from his hand I looked down at it to see if there was a text of Emilia. There wasn't which told me she hadn't murdered Payton yet.

"You told her I was with a girl, working on chemistry." Even in the darkness I could see the death look he was sending my way at his point.

Holding up my hands in defence I laughed at the memory. "It was the truth though."

"Yea." Agreed Levi and his voice got higher as he spoke on. "But you failed to mention to her, that I was with Amelia, our cousin and I was working on chemistry with her because I'm failing that class"

"It's not my fault your girlfriend jumped to conclusions. I stand by my statement I said to her because it was the truth."

"She's not my girlfriend anymore." His voice was that low that at first I had imagined he said it. It took a few seconds for it to even register in my mind what he was saying.

"What the fuck!" Shouting so loud Levi slammed on his breaks in shock. The both of us went flying forward as the car stopped but I didn't even flinch as my brother looked like he was about to have a heart attack.

"What the hell Layla!" Shouted my brother back bringing his hand up to his heart that was probably running at high speeds. "What the fuck was that for?!"

"Did you just say that crazy bitch isn't your girlfriend anymore?" My brother nodded slowly as he continued to try and get his heart rate down. I on the other hand punched him so hard I was pretty sure I gave him a dead arm. "Why is she in our house then? I'm guessing Emilia doesn't know because the girl wouldn't have let her in if she did."

"It's not a big deal it happened like a week ago but she's been needy and just won't leave me alone. That's why I've been avoiding her for the last week."

Levi started up the car again and started to make his way down the road.

"I have millions of answers to my next question but I want to hear yours. Why did you break up with her?" I wasn't going to lie I couldn't keep the smile off my face at the fact that my little brother was free from Payton's evil hands.

"I've just realised she was a fucking nut job."

"Umm." I frowned at him like he was stupid. "I've been telling you that since we were twelve. So what made you actually click onto it?"

"You don't need to know that."

Gasping in fake shock I held my hand up to my mouth as Levi rolled his eyes at me. Those famous eyes that he shared with our mom. "Is my brother actually keeping secrets from me?"

"You don't know everything about my life."

"I kind of do even the things I don't want to know." A shiver ran down my spine at the things I wished I had burned my ears off after hearing.

"Yea well I can actually say same in that department."

Looking at him I could tell he really wasn't going to tell me. Not yet anyway but we had times like this before.

I always found out or he told me anyway at some other point.

Normally he did this when it was something he didn't want to be judged over. Not that I would ever judge him.

His taste in girlfriends didn't count, he judged my taste in boys just as much.

"Well." I said changing the subject. "I say we should go out and celebrate your freedom."

Texting Emilia I told her that Levi and Payton had broken up and that she had permission to kick her out.

"It's Sunday and our first day back is tomorrow." Levi didn't actually look like he cared about school at all. He was just trying to argue so that he looked like the good twin.

"And what? It's no different from every other day of the year."

"Ok, ok." Agreed Levi with not much pushing on my part. "Where will we go? Dravan and River's parties were shut down."

"They're not the only ones around here that know how to throw a party."

Levi looked over at me and worry crossed his eyes. "I know that look what ever you're thinking no. Dad says between you and mom he doesn't know who's worse with that look."

Remembering my mom I knew instantly who was worse.

"Definitely mom."
