《Rain✔️ (Wattpad version)》A beautiful, messy existence

I was glad Antonio was okay. I felt better knowing he wasn't hurt. We spent time together; Then Antonio went home. He even stayed for dinner and sat next to me, like lunch.

I got ready for bed, and Dad came in to check on me along with Mom.

"Rain, do you feel better?" Dad asked me.

"I feel much better. It worried me that the police officer hurt Antonio, but seeing him this evening made me feel better," I said as I crawled into bed and pulled the cover onto my lap. "Can I ask you something?" I told them.

"Sure, hun," Mom smiled.

"If a boy does nice things for you, does that mean he likes you?" I asked my parents.

They looked at each other, then looked at me. "Sometimes, but not always," Mom said.

"What do you mean?" I looked at her, confused.

"Well, when your dad and I first met, he made me beg him for a date," she told me.

Dad facepalmed himself when Mom told me that.

"Why?" I looked at her weirdly.

"Ask your father," she smiled.

I looked at him, "Why did you do that?"

"Because it wasn't very nice. See, I didn't have an easy time of it growing up, but your mom and grandparents helped me," he explained.

"Yeah, but even if we don't have a good day, you always say not to take it out on someone else, or did I misunderstand," I said to him.

"No, Honey, you didn't. I was a jerk to your mom," he said regretfully.

"Like how Ella and Darcy are jerks," I replied.

"Not a jerk like that. I didn't do the things they did, but I also wasn't nice at first. Over time though, your mom made me realize not all people are mean and some care," he explained. "I fell in love with her because of it."

"That's nice; I'm glad you're not a jerk anymore. Goodnight," I said, lying down and going to sleep. They both kissed me and left the room.

When they came out and closed my door, they saw Cole coming upstairs.

"Are you okay?" Dad asked him.

"Yeah, fine," he said, walking by him and going into his room.

He looked at mom, "What's been up with him lately?"

"I don't know. Cole has always been quieter," Mom told him.

They went downstairs and saw Luke in the kitchen. "What's up with your brother?" Dad asked him.

"What do you mean?" Luke asked Dad.

"He just seems like something is bothering him," Dad told him.

Luke looked at him.

"Luke?"

"Ask him, Dad. I can't tell you. It's not my place," he said to him.

"Okay, but if he doesn't, someone will," he told Luke.

The next day, I did my routine, and as I went to go downstairs, I heard talking. I walked towards Cole's room.

"I plan on telling them. Give me more time. Things have been crazy at home. Someone new has been helping my sister, and it's been a rough transition. I promise I will tell them when the time is right, just not right now. Okay, I love you, too," he said, hanging up. He turned and saw me standing there. "Rain."

"Do you have a friend?" I asked Cole.

"Maybe," he answered.

"Do you like them more than a friend?" I asked him.

"I think so," he shrugged.

"You said you love the person. So, you like the person more than a friend," I said casually.

"It's still new," he reasoned.

"But they're pushing you to do something you're not ready to do," I said to him.

"Yeah," he answered.

"Then maybe you shouldn't be with them. When you like someone, you don't push the person," I told Cole.

"That's a smart way of thinking," he smiled.

"It makes sense to me," I shrugged as I turned and walked towards the door. I stopped and looked at Cole. "Cole?"

"Yeah?" Cole said.

"I think you should go out with Wade. He would be better for you than this other guy," I said as his eyes widened. "He's nicer and likes me." With that, I walked away.

After breakfast, my parents dropped me off at school, and I walked to my locker to see Antonio, Adrian, and Wade waiting for me. It made me confused.

"Rain, I know you're uncertain, but we figured you would like this better," Antonio said to me.

"Can we still work on a puzzle?" I asked Antonio.

"Yes," he smiled.

"Then I'm fine," I shrugged. People needed to realize, I have my routines, but I also focus on my interests. It helps to calm me and keeps me relaxed. With the chaos in my head, this helps to calm it.

I can deal with small changes, but I can't deal with drastic ones. There are too many questions, and no answers. It creates a sensory overload in my brain.

We went to the room and sat down, working on the puzzle.

"Wade, ask my brother out," I blurted as I looked at the puzzle.

"Excuse me," Wade said, confused.

"You should ask out my brother Cole. He's a nice guy and makes my favorite foods. He needs someone to love him and like me," I told him.

"Rain, who says I like guys?" Wade questioned me.

"You have no siblings, and you watch My Little Pony, which makes you a Brony. You can dance, and you have a good fashion sense. You're neat and smell good," I answered.

"Dude, she's got you there," Adrian smirked.

"You're not helping, Ade." Wade rolled his eyes.

Antonio worked on the puzzle with me.

"Who cares if you're gay?" Adrian asked him.

"The correct terminology is homosexual, which means two people of the same sex love each other. Gay means happy and carefree," I said.

They all looked at me.

"Rain, that's what people usually call someone when they like the same sex," Antonio said to me.

I looked up at him, "Then they're wrong, and that's stupid. But if that's what people want, then I guess Wade is a gay homosexual."

"That makes no sense," Wade said to me.

"Are you happy?" I asked.

"Yes," Wade answered.

"Do you like a guy?"

"Yes," he looked at me, confused.

"Then that makes you a gay homosexual. You're happy and like the same sex," I said literally.

They all looked at each other as I rolled my eyes.

"What part didn't you understand?" I asked them, feeling annoyed.

"Did you just roll your eyes at us?" Antonio asked me.

"Yes, because none of you understand what I'm saying. People think I'm odd or weird, but they make things way more complicated than needed. They also use incorrect terminology when referring to people, places, and things. If they were correct and simple, there wouldn't be any misunderstandings," I explained.

I think they would remain confused by my explanation. I didn't have time to keep repeating myself to Wade and Adrian. I wanted to work on my puzzle.

The problem with most people, while they are judging others, they don't think they have any faults of their own. I may be literal and direct while living in my world, but I'm honest and don't care if they have flaws. To me, what matters is right and wrong, rules, and structures.

It keeps the chaos at a minimum that exists in my brain. If anyone ever dealt with a fraction of what I deal with daily, people would understand why I don't judge anyone. I'm too busy living in a world of beautiful chaos.

People would learn something if they lived in my world for one day. Maybe then they would treat people with kindness.
