《Pokémon Sun & Moon: Emethyst's Journey》Like Father, Like Daughter

My head stayed tilted to the side for a good minute, as I looked up at Kahuna Hala's closed eyes. I felt my eyebrow stay raised as well. What did he mean I was hopefully 'nothing like my mom?'
"There's only one way to find out." My dad said, smirking at me.
My eyes went from my dad, and back to Kahuna Hala. "You two are scaring me." I said, plainly.
Kahuna Hala guided me back over to the cemented battlefield where I had my Grand Trial. "Emethyst," He began. "Do you know how to do the poses for the Ghost type Z move?" He asked me.
I shrugged lightly. "Well, yes and no. I've seen Mimikyu do the moves a few times, but never actually have practiced the moves myself." I said, truthfully. I knew the dance wouldn't be that hard to do, but I was sort of nervous.
Kahuna Hala chuckled lightheartedly. "Well, let's see if you can master it," He said, smiling. "I would suggest doing the Ghost type Z move first before you try Mimikyu's; That way you have somewhat of a feel." He explained.
I looked up at him, as I felt myself begin sweating in nervousness. "Okay." I said, simply. I reached over to my purple Z ring, and took the Mimikium Z out. I stuck it in my pocket, and reached for my Ghostium Z. I took the purple Z Crystal out of my pocket, and stuck it into the slot where the crystal goes. My heart was pounding.
"Alright Emethyst, I want you to try Never-ending Nightmare with Mimikyu. If you two can master that Z Move together; Then you should be able to use Mimikyu's special Z move in no time." He explained.
I took a deep breath, and put my right hand on my chest. I then looked over to my left at Mimikyu, who was still perched up on my shoulder. "Alright Mimikyu," I said. "Are you ready?" I asked her.

"Kyu!" Mimikyu exclaimed, as she jumped off of my shoulder in front of me. I was extremely nervous, and I didn't exactly know what I was doing just yet. But, I figured it would come to me. I felt sweat dripping down my face.
Kahuna Hala walked over to the other side of the battlefield; I guess to give me space.
"Alright Emethyst, are you ready?!" He called out.
"You can do it, Emethyst!" I heard Ash cheer from the side.
My heart was pounding out of my chest, and I felt the adrenaline moving through my veins. It felt like the Alolan sun was my big spotlight. "Alright Mimikyu, Let's do this!" I exclaimed, as I crossed my arms over each other. In that moment; I felt something other worldly. I felt this form of power building up around me. I began doing movements; Not exactly sure if I was doing them right, but they felt right. I saw Mimikyu doing the same movements I was in front of me.
Out of nowhere, I just found the words to say. I felt unstoppable. "Do you know what it means to be afraid?! Do you understand your own fears?! You will, and you won't know anything else! Because we don't create the fear; WE ARE THE FEAR!" I exclaimed, as I wiggled myself up, and did the Haunter hands movement.
"USE NEVER-ENDING NIGHTMARE!" I exclaimed to Mimikyu, as I watched this purple aura get transferred to her, but it immediately stopped. All the power I felt was now gone. Did my Z move fail? I then began to feel lightheaded, and I felt myself go from side to side.
My dad, Ash, and Kahuna Hala ran over to me. "Wow, Emethyst! That was really amazing and close for your first try!" My dad exclaimed, as he caught me from falling over.
"Yeah, that was so awesome, Emethyst!" Ash exclaimed. "You'll have it down in no time!"

Kahuna Hala then chuckled. "Yes, Emethyst! That was a splendid first try!" He exclaimed, and then chuckled. "It's good to see you're not like Crystal." He continued laughing.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance; Still feeling a little lightheaded. "Okay, can you please tell me what you mean by not being like my mom?" I pressed. I didn't understand why this was such a big joke.
My dad began laughing. "Well Emethyst; Your mom couldn't handle the power from a Z move. It was too much for her. The first time she tried using one; It knocked her out cold, puns intended." He laughed hysterically.
I looked over at Froslass, and she gave my dad a dirty look. I did giggle a little, because what he said was kind of funny. I did a facepalm. Well, that explained why my mom was never a big fan of Z moves. "So wait, it really knocked her out?" I asked, as I felt myself looking up funnily at my dad's green framed eyes.
My dad nodded while he was still laughing. "Yes. Your mom tried the Ice type Z Move Sub-Zero Slammer with Snorunt, and she couldn't handle the power that came from it. Afterwards, it knocked her out completely. Good to see all it did to you was make you dizzy." He winked at me.
I rolled my eyes playfully. Mimikyu came strutting back over to my feet. I put my hand down on the scratchy concrete so she could climb back onto my shoulder. As soon as she did; She snuggled up to my face and I felt her warm shadow arms wrap around my neck from the side. This made me smile big, as I rubbed my left cheek up against her cloth in return. I giggled, because her little shadow arms up against my neck tickled a bit.
"Alright you all, I'd say it's about time we head home." My dad said, as he stretched a bit. "We'll be celebrating good tonight." He added, as he shook my right shoulder a bit.
I nodded in agreement, for I was now a bit tired. Plus, I needed to get Gengar rested. "Sounds good to me, dad." I said. I then turned over to Kahuna Hala. "Kahuna Hala, thank you so much for letting me have my Grand Trial and for the Z ring. I love it." I said, as I smiled up at him.
Kahuna Hala chuckled. "Of course, young Em. It was a great pleasure battling with you. You have that same fire in you as Young Ku did and still does." He said, as he looked over at my dad smiling.
My dad then made an embarrassed face. He chuckled nervously. "Oh Hala, let's not get into that.." He said hesitantly, and smiled weirdly.
"Young Ku, huh?" I said, as I felt myself looking up at him funnily.
My dad looked away embarrassingly. I could see his cheeks turning red. This made me laugh really hard, because I was not used to seeing him like that. He then turned back over to me. "You can call me dad, Young Em." He sassed.
"Alright, look. You call me Young Em, I'm calling you Young Ku." I countered playfully and began laughing. It was odd messing around with my dad like this, but it felt good and funny. This was a side I never seen of him before, but I loved it.
My dad wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tight. I was still laughing hard, and so was he. I was in a good mood. I was hoping this good day continued just like this.

8 274Vigilantes Make Us Safe: Rebel Rebel
When the world was on the brink in the 1940s a group of men and women with uncommon ability pulled the world from the brink. They inspired generations to come and led to a golden age of vigilantes protecting the world. Times change. By the early 2000s almost nowhere was willing to tolerate unregulated men and women dispensing their own form of justice. The dawn of the internet made operating in the shadows virtually impossible. Everyone thought the days of vigilantes were done but presidential candidate Richard Hughes, riding a wave of populism, has promised to bring these men and women into the light and empower them to keep us all safe. The passing of the Vigilantes Making Us Safe Act changes everything. All teenagers feel like they don’t fit in at times. Ryaan Asfour knows the feeling well. As part of an immigrant family in a country turning against immigrants, there’s a lot of people who don’t think he belongs. The election of Richard Hughes and the passage of the Vigilantes Making Us Safe Act hasn’t helped matters. Suddenly anyone who wants to discriminate can just say they’re keeping people safe and do whatever they want. Sudden popularity at school after hitting a game winning shot makes it even more apparent how much he doesn’t fit in with the rest of his world. A clash with a pair of vigilantes on his way home from school puts things in perspective. What can Ryaan do to protect his family and his neighborhood? Vigilantes Making Us Safe will follow a variety of lead characters including Serenity, Toxic, Hitbox, the Rebel and more. I'll keep the cover image and title updated to reflect the current protagonist but I encourage you to check them all out.

*Heyo, Evil Overlord here. As some may know, I am the main editor of VanZans, and his fiction, Those Who Aspire to Become Gods. If you do not know, check his work out and see for yourself. This is my first story to test my skills as a writer and a story teller. This may or may not be continued depending on my choice, and available time I have.*Hello, ghost audience, my name is Heibai. It stands for black and white in Chinese, and yes I am Asian, though I grew up in America. I was an orphan, now adopted into a rare family dojo in Chinatown in a certain state. Now I am reincarnated into a 'snake'...killed by a goddamn truck, conjured by fate's sick sense of entertainment, and died attempting to save my sister (she is not related by blood by the way) when I tried to shield her from harm, and here I am...in a new world, primitive, war-torn, and semi-corrupt. Disgusted by the contents of this fantasy world, I must survive and discover the truth to my sudden...rebirth...and find my sister if she is also here, human or not. My main goal of this story...is to fight on and learn as much as I can, and my secondary goal, to see if I can return home...human or NOT.*Might include blood and some gore
