"Alright Gengar, Shadow Claw one more time!" I called out to Gengar. The plan was for Gengar to disappear midway, and materialize behind Crabrawler and scare it. I put my hand on my chest and prayed it worked. Mimikyu snuggled up to my face once again.

"The same move again? Very well then.." I heard Hala say from across the field. "Crabrawler, bubble beam!" He ordered Crabrawler.

I saw the bubble beam go straight for Gengar, but Gengar disappeared just in time. Crabrawler looked around confused, and then I saw Gengar's familiar red eyed evil smile appear behind Crabrawler. My eyes widened in excitement. Yes, good job Gengar! I thought. However, his smile was rather creepy to where it made me cringe a little. I would hate to see that face staring at me in the middle of the night.

"GENG!" Gengar exclaimed, as I saw Crabrawler jump in fear. Gengar then gave the same treatment to Crabrawler as he did to my mom's Mega Froslass, and began Shadow Clawing it to death just about.

I watched Kahuna Hala's face from across the way, and he appeared to be surprised. I guess he wasn't expecting me to use my typing to my advantage. I felt myself smiling daringly. I knew I had this now.

"Gengar, paralyze with Lick!" I exclaimed. "Make sure Crabrawler doesn't go anywhere." I taunted.

"Crabrawler, use Power-up Punch!" Kahuna Hala called. Crabrawler tried, but it had taken a literal beating from Gengar's Shadow Claws, thus it struggled. Before Crabrawler could get up; Gengar licked it right on its face. Yes! I cheered in my head.

"Crabrawler's paralyzed!" I heard Rotom exclaim from the sidelines.

Crabrawler was now on the hard cement, paralyzed. It looked to be stunned, as it struggled to move. I felt like I was torturing it, but I had to do what I had to do. I looked over to my right, and saw my dad's familar green framed eyes staring straight at me, and he was smirking.

I then looked back at Gengar. "Alright Gengar, finish it with Shadow Ball!" I called out to Gengar. Gengar charged his Shadow Ball with his purple claws, and shot to straight at Crabrawler.

Gengar's Shadow Ball hit him hard to where Crabrawler was now in the dirt. Crabrawler wailed in pain, thus causing it to faint. My mouth dropped open when I saw the swirls in it's eyes. Oh my gosh.. Gengar won. I thought.

My dad ran over to Crabrawler, and got a good look at it. "Crabrawler is unable to battle!" He declared. My heart dropped into my stomach when I heard that. I couldn't believe my ears. Mimikyu rubbed herself against my cheek, and that snapped me out of my daze.

"You battled valuably." I heard Kahuna Hala say, as I saw Crabrawler return inside of it's Pokeball.

"Yes, great job Gengar!!!" I shouted loudly. Gengar began jumping up and down excitedly. "Gengar! Gengar!" I was so full of happiness in that moment. But, I knew it wasn't quite over yet.

"Alright Hariyama, the next battle is yours!" Hala exclaimed.

"Hari." I heard the Hariyama say in it's deep voice. It climbed up the steps to the battle ground, causing it to shake a little. It then took its position in front of Kahuna Hala. I will admit, it was rather intimidating because of it's size. But, Gengar wasn't too far below him.

I took a deep breath. I was nervous again, but I knew Gengar had this. "Alright Gengar, we got this!" I exclaimed. "Use Lick!" I exclaimed. It was another fighting type, right? I was sure Gengar had this. Gengar floated over to Hariyama aggressively with his tongue at the ready.

"Use Knock-Off!" Kahuna Hala yelled.

I felt my eyes widen ten times in size, and my blood run cold when Kahuna Hala called the move... A Dark type move. "WAIT, KNOCK-OFF?!?!?" I exclaimed, now afraid.

Hariyama knocked Gengar to the ground like he was nothing. I looked over at Gengar, and saw he had swirls in his eyes. He had taken a pretty effective hit, and I knew he was holding on by a thread from the previous battle.

Oh no... I thought. Kahuna Hala smiled at me, daringly.

My dad then ran over to Gengar. I could tell he was upset this happened. He sighed. "Gengar is unable to battle!" He declared. He looked at me a bit sadly.

I allowed a small smile to show my dad I was okay. I took out Gengar's Pokeball. "You did a great job bud, get some rest." I said to him, as I watched Gengar go inside. I held the Pokeball close to my heart for a second.

"Shit... Now what am I going to do?" I said quietly to myself. "Because Hariyama knows Knock-off, I can now say I'm greatly screwed." I said to myself, as I face-palmed. "So much for my dad saying I had this easy." I grumbled quietly, as I gave him the side-eye.

Froslass floated over to me, and I could tell she was trying to comfort me and was ready to battle. I sighed, as I looked at her yellow-blue eyes. "Oh Froslass," I said. "You might be part ghost, but you're also ice. You're a little weak to fighting, and on top of that, you won't stand a chance against that knock-off attack." I said to her, sadly. I was under a lot of pressure now. I didn't know what I was going to do. I knew Froslass was strong, but one hit from that knock-off and she was a goner for sure.

I then felt Mimikyu's familiar cloth snuggle up to my face. That's when it hit me. I gasped. "Mimikyu..." I said, as I came to the realization Mimikyu was Ghost and Fairy. Mimikyu would not only withstand the Knock-off attack, but she was also super immune to fighting being both ghost and fairy. I felt my heart jump in relief.

I immediately picked Mimikyu up off of my shoulder. "Mimikyu... Do you want to battle with me?" I asked her. I knew we had only battled a few times, but I think she would do very well.

Mimikyu looked up at me with her little beady eyes. "Kyu?" She said, as I could tell she looked unsure. Her eyes then went sad, as she looked off to the side.

This caught me off guard a bit, but I smiled down at her. I knew we never really battled together much, but I had faith in her. "Mimikyu, you will be amazing out there. I know you will be. Let me choose you." I said to her. I knew she would do great.

Mimikyu looked to have thought for a moment. I then saw her eyes light up, and she jumped out of my hands onto the cement in front of me.

"Mimikyu, I choose you!" I exclaimed, my heart happy that she agreed to battle with me. I looked down at her little Pikachu-like tail, as I saw her wiggle around. I thought she looked absolutely adorable.

Kahuna Hala grinned a little. "I had a feeling you would pick Mimikyu." He said.

I smiled back over at Hala. "She's my most recent catch." I said, as I winked at him. "Are you ready, Mimikyu?!" I called out to her.

"Kyu!" She exclaimed. I will admit; She didn't look like much compared to Hala's humungous Hariyama, but I knew she had this.

I smiled down at her tiny beige rag. "Alright Mimikyu, use Shadow Sneak!" I called out to her. I watched Mimikyu scurry up in front of Hariyama a bit, and watched her shadow extend out behind Hariyama, and smack it around a bit. Hariyama took a bit of hit, but it wasn't enough to really do anything.

"Hariyama, use Arm Thrust!" Kahuna Hala exclaimed. Hariyama began thrusting it's arms, and Mimikyu was now being smacked around like a little rag doll. It wasn't doing much of nothing, but I could tell Mimikyu was taking a bit of a beating. "Mi! Kyu! Mi! Kyu!" Mimikyu exclaimed as she kept getting hit.

"Mimikyu, use baby doll eyes!" I called out to her. She was still getting smacked around, but her attack was effective because Hariyama formed hearts in it's eyes, and stopped hitting Mimikyu.

Mimikyu landed on the concrete, but her head was now hanging to it's left side. Oh no.. She's busted. I thought.

"Use shadow sneak while Hariyama is still stunned!" I called out to her. Mimikyu's shadow extended out again, and smacked Hariyama around. Hariyama was taking a beating from Mimikyu's sneaks. I knew she could do it.

"Dodge that attack, Hariyama!" Kahuna Hala yelled. Hariyama responded by moving away quickly, causing Mimikyu's multiple shadow sneaks to fail. "Use Belly Drum!" He called out.

Hariyama began beating on its belly.

Kahuna Hala then smiled daringly. "Let's have a little fun, shall we, Emethyst?!" I heard him call out. He crossed his arms over each other. Shit.. a Z move?! I thought to myself.

I looked down at Mimikyu, and thought I could hear her sobbing. I saw her little body heaving. I ran over to her, and saw she was crying. "Mimikyu... What's wrong?!" I exclaimed.

"Whoa, what's wrong with Mimikyu?!" Rotom Dex exclaimed from the sidelines. I looked over, and saw Ash get up immediately. He gasped.

Mimikyu began crying hysterically, and began backing away. Her cloth was now soaked. I was so lost right now. Why was she crying like this? "Mimikyu..." I said, trying to get her to focus. She continued crying hysterically, even worse than the night I had found her. It was then it dawned on me. That boy... His words... "That thing couldn't win a battle even if it tried..." His voice echoed in my head. I began to get angry now.

"MIMIKYU! YOU CAN DO THIS! I BELIEVE IN YOU! IF I DIDN'T BELIEVE YOU COULD, I WOULDN'T HAVE CHOSEN YOU TO FIGHT THIS BATTLE! I LOVE YOU, MIMIKYU! I MEAN THAT!" I exclaimed hysterically to her.

I was so focused on Mimikyu, I didn't realize Kahuna Hala had initiated his Z Move.

"DODGE THAT Z MOVE, MIMIKYU! YOU'RE A GHOST AND FAIRY TYPE! YOUR ONLY WEAKNESSES ARE YOURSELF AND STEEL! ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO LET A TYPING YOU'RE STRONG AGAINST BEAT YOU?!" I exclaimed again. I could feel myself getting emotional. Tears began falling down my face. It was now that I understood why Mimikyu was so messed up the night I found her. The night that piece of shit former trainer of hers abandoned her. She was busted.. Did she lose her last battle? Now I was really pissed and my heart was broken all over again for Mimikyu. No Pokemon deserves that crap.

Suddenly, I saw Mimikyu begin to get this purple aura around her. She perked her busted head up. I felt my eyes widen, for I didn't know what was going on. She began to make hissing noises, instead of her normal cute 'Kyu' noises.

"I think she heard you." I heard my dad say warmly on the sidelines

Kahuna Hala's Z move was coming, but I watched Mimikyu get stars in her eyes. I saw her zig zag along, dodging every single movement of Hariyama's. I wasn't sure what I was watching, but I was amazed at how fast she was moving. I then watched Mimikyu jump on Hariyama, and begin beating the heck out of it.

"THAT WAS PLAY ROUGH!" I heard Rotom Dex exclaim on the sidelines. "THAT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE!"

I felt my eyes widen as I watched Mimikyu just maul the Kahuna's Hariyama. My mouth gaped open, as I couldn't believe this little shoulder sized Pokemon of mine was destroying an almost eight foot tall beast of a Pokemon.

I watched Hariyama fall over onto the dirt, with swirls in it's eyes.

I looked around afterwards, to see if everyone witnessed what I just did. My dad's mouth was gaped open, and I saw Ash literally make the weirdest face I've ever seen him make.

My dad ran over to Hariyama, and examined him. "Melemele Kahuna Hala's Hariyama is unable to battle! Which means the winner of this Melemele Island Grand Trial is the challenger, Emethyst!" He exclaimed, as he pointed over at me.

I immediately ran over to Mimikyu, and scooped her up into my arms. "Oh my gosh, Mimikyu!! That was amazing!! See, I told you!" I exclaimed to her, as I hugged her tightly.

"Kyu!" She exclaimed. She was now back to doing her cute little voice and not those creepy hisses anymore. Froslass then floated over and hugged both of us. "Fros!" She exclaimed. Tears began to fall down my face in joy, as I cuddled Mimikyu and Froslass close.

My dad and Ash ran over to me and hugged me at the same time. "Congratulations, Emethyst! That was amazing!" My dad exclaimed.

"You were awesome, Emethyst!" Ash exclaimed.

Kahuna Hala then approached us. My dad and Ash let go of me, and Kahuna Hala stood in front of me. "I thoroughly enjoyed our splendid battle, my young Em. It definitely reminded me alot of the trial I had with your father." He said nobly, and smiled.

I felt my cheeks heat up. "Well, I must get it from somewhere." I said, as I looked up at my almost identical face. My dad then winked at me.

"As Melemele Island Kahuna, I proclaim you have passed your grand trial." He said. "I'll go ahead get that Z ring for you. Oh, and also take this." He said, as he opened up his hand to reveal another Z crystal.

I clutched Mimikyu in my arms, as I looked down at the bronzy colored Z crystal. "A z crystal?" I said, as I looked down at it. Mimikyu climbed herself back up onto my left shoulder.

"This is your Fightinium Z. With it, you'll be able to use the Fighting type Z move." He said, happily.

I smiled down at it. I didn't know when I was going to be able to use it, but I guess I could keep it for safe keeping. "Wow, awesome. Thank you so much, Kahuna Hala!" I exclaimed. I reached down to pick it up out of his hand, but I was interrupted by a loud cry.

"KOKO!!" The loud cry made me jump. Something moved by us really fast like a really big gust of wind. "What was that?!" I exclaimed nervously, as I looked around at the clear blue sky above me, but saw nothing.

"Oh my!" I heard Kahuna Hala exclaim. I then turned back over to face him, and looked down at his hand. There was now a totally different Z Crystal in his hand. This one was a pale yellow color, and was shaped differently.
