《Pokémon Sun & Moon: Emethyst's Journey》Chapter 53

If I fell asleep last night, I don't remember it. I opened my eyes to the sun shining brightly in the window above me. I also felt Mimikyu's familiar soft cloth rubbing up against my cheek. I smiled groggily, as responded by doing the same.
"Kyu!" Mimikyu cheered happily.
I sat up, and looked around. Ash and his Pokemon were already up I assumed, because I looked to my right and saw the vacant green couch. I looked down at the foot of my bed, and saw Gengar and Froslass were gone too. I checked my phone and saw it was 10am. I assumed everyone must have woke up before me.
I rose up out of bed, and stood up on the cold hard wood underneath me. I stretched, and laid my arm out so Mimikyu could climb onto her favorite spot, which was my shoulder. She climbed up, and perched herself on my left shoulder, as she snuggled up to my face. "Kyu!" She exclaimed.
I walked over to the loft steps, and climbed down. There was no one in the kitchen or living room. No one anywhere. Maybe they were outside? I walked over to the door and slipped on my black sandals. I opened the door to be met with Alola's sunny weather and clear blue sky. The heat from the sun hit my skin as soon as I walked outside. I looked straight ahead, and saw my dad's familiar labcoated figure with his back towards me.
I walked over, and I guess he either heard me walk behind him or he saw me out of his peripheral vision. "Well, look who finally decided to wake up." He said, as he walked over to me.
I smiled in response. "Yeah, I slept like a rock. Surprised you didn't wake me up." I said, as I looked down at the beach. I saw Ash down below training all of the Pokemon; including Froslass and Gengar. They all looked to be having alot of fun. I will admit; I loved that Ash treated my Pokemon like they were his. It meant a lot to me.
"Well I know you had issues sleeping last night, so I figured I'd let you sleep in a little." He said. "Are you ready for today?" He then asked.
I turned my attention to his familiar green framed eyes. I nodded in response. "Yeah, I'm still kind of nervous though." I said. I didn't really know what to expect. I didn't know what a grand trial was like or even really was. I assumed it was Alola's way of Gym Battles or something like that, but I wasn't entirely sure.

"I really don't think you have much to worry about, Emethyst." My dad said, as he looked down at me. "Plus, if you're anything like I was; This shouldn't be a problem for you." He winked.
I raised my eyebrow and smiled a little in response to this. "Well, am I?" I asked, giggling a bit. Mimikyu rubbed her soft cloth up against my face affectionately.
"Only one way to find out." He said, and winked again. My dad then turned his attention to Mimikyu. "Good to see Mimikyu is happy this morning as well." He then said, as he rubbed what would be the left side of her face.
I then turned my attention to Mimikyu. "Yeah, she always wakes up happy now," I said. "She's trusting me a little more, I think. But, she still can't go a second being five feet away from me." I said, as I cuddled her against my cheek.
"Well, after what she went through, I'm not surprised. I was gonna give that kid a piece of my mind before he ran off." My dad replied.
"You should have just let me punch him." I said. I still would have loved to take rounds at that kid's face. I hope I never see him again.
My dad put his hand behind his head and began laughing.
"What's so funny?" I asked, as I looked up at him.
My dad then stopped laughing. "Oh Emethyst, you do some of the same exact gestures I do when I'm upset. I noticed this the other day when you were confronting that boy." He then started back up chuckling again.
I felt my eyebrow raise, and I was pretty sure I looked confused. "Um.. sure?" I said, uncertain.
"Look down at your fists." My dad said, his eyes looking to my sides.
I looked down, and noticed my fists were balled up. I didn't even realize I was doing this. I started laughing a little when I realized he wasn't lying. I've seen him do the same thing with his fists a few of the times we've argued.
"I never realized I did it either when I was younger," my dad said. "When I saw you do that; That's when I knew to step in. Because I do the same thing." He chuckled again. "Your mom used to call me out on it all the time." He said, smiling.

I laughed. "And you're really questioning if I'm anything like you?" I giggled a little. Now that I think about it, I really wasn't anything like my mom. The only thing I could think of that I got from my mom was a bit of her attitude, and her warm heart as my dad said I had.
"Oh, you know what I mean." My dad teased.
I giggled, for I was actually enjoying this conversation we were having. "You're in a funny mood today." I said, as I kept giggling.
"What do you mean?" My dad asked.
"You're being nice," I said a bit nervously. "Like, you're not being all stern like you usually are." I giggled a little.
My dad started laughing again. "Me, stern? Oh that's funny." My dad said as he chuckled.
I nodded my head. "No, I'm serious. You have this stern voice you do, like, all the time." I said. I could feel myself smiling weirdly. For once, I was actually having an enjoyable conversation with my dad.
"I'd say serious is more the word," He said. "Not stern." He smiled.
I snickered a little. I couldn't believe he was denying this, but he was doing it so playfully. "Oh no, it's stern," I said. "I'll record you one day so you can hear." I laughed. I wasn't used to this.
My dad continued laughing. "Alright then, I'll hold you to it." He said, as he smiled.
I turned over to face the ocean, to still see Ash training with my Pokemon. I smiled at Froslass and Gengar, for they seemed to still be enjoying themselves.
"Are you about ready to go see Kahuna Hala?" My dad asked.
I took a deep breath, as I nodded. "Yeah," I said. "Well, I need to shower and change." I then said, realizing I was still in my bed clothes. I was pretty sure I looked a hot mess.
"Hey, Emethyst!" I heard Ash yell at me from down below, as I saw him wave. He then stopped what he was doing and ran up the hill to us. All the Pokemon including my own followed behind him. He ran up until he was in front of me. "Are you ready for your trial today?!" Ash exclaimed happily.
I shrugged a little nervously in response. "Yeah, I think so," I said. My attention then turned to my Pokemon. "Oh, by the way, thanks for training with Gengar and Froslass. It means alot to me." I said, as I smiled. Froslass and Gengar then floated to my sides, as they both hugged me.
Ash returned my smile. "Hey, it's no problem," Ash said. He then turned his attention to Mimikyu. "I tried to see if Mimikyu wanted to come with us as well, but she wasn't budging." He said.
"She still has a little separation anxiety." I said, as I reached over and rubbed the side of her face. "Kyu!" She exclaimed happily. "But, I'm sure she'll come around once she completely trusts me." I said, as I smiled at her.
My dad then interrupted our conversation. "Alright you two, let's go ahead and get ready. I told Kahuna Hala we'd be over by noon." He said, in that familiar stern tone. I didn't waste time to call him out on it.
"You just did it!" I exclaimed, and pointed. "That stern voice!" I began laughing. "I told you!" I continued laughing.
My dad then made a weird face. "Yeah, yeah, yeah... But you didn't record it, though." My dad countered and then began laughing.
"Did I miss something?" Ash asked, as he looked at the two of us like we were weird.
"Oh, it's nothing." I said, as I stopped laughing. "Alright, I'm gonna go shower." I said. I didn't waste time, and ran up the steps into my dad's house. Mimikyu clung onto my tanktop strap like a harness. I didn't know what to expect for today, but I was ready for whatever was thrown at me.

Agenda of the Villainess
As the daughter of a duke, Lady Alicia Senius expected to awaken her latent magical ability during her Blooming ceremony. She was not expecting her connection to the flowers of Fate to awaken memories of a past life, however, and certainly not memories that were somehow inextricably tied with her future. Now, Alicia must find a way to escape the fatal punishment that is the destiny of a villainous noble girl. In doing so, she might even alter the fate of the whole world. This novel is a steampunk take on the otome villainess genre, heavily inspired by the late Victorian era of England and with a system of magic based around floweral circuitry. If that sounds like your cup of tea, why not give it a shot? Updates on Thursday every week.
