《Pokémon Sun & Moon: Emethyst's Journey》Chapter 48

I was now up the hill. I felt my heart picking up pace in my chest. I wondered what he wanted? Now that I think of it, my dad did sound more angry. I didn't really notice it right in the spot because I was so focused on battling.

Mimikyu must have sensed my discomfort, because she began cuddling up to my face. I took a deep breath, and put my hand on Mimikyu. "Thanks." I told her.

"Kyu!" She exclaimed. Before I walked inside the house, I turned around to check on Gengar and Froslass. Ash had resumed training them as if I were still down there. Froslass and Gengar were now training with each other. I smiled at them.

I walked up the wooden steps to the front door. My heart began beating harder, as I felt the pressure build up with every pound in my chest. I turned the front doorknob, and walked inside. I was greeted with the familiar aquarium, and the familiar feel of the air conditioning on my mildly sunburnt skin. I looked around, but I didn't see my dad anywhere. Uh, weird... I thought.

"Dad?! I'm here. What is it?" I called out. Mimikyu continued cuddling up to me, trying to calm me down.

My dad then appeared from behind the aquarium, and rounded the corner to me. He looked angry. I was taken aback a bit, because I didn't really know how to react to this.

"Do you mind explaining to me what this is?" He asked, as he held out a purple envelope with my name on it. I recognized it immediately. The moment I saw it, my blood ran cold and my heart rate increased ten times in speed it felt like. Oh, no.. I forgot.. the note... I thought. Shit shit shit shit shit shit... I kept repeating in my head.

I went to open my mouth, but nothing came out. It was like my vocal cords had been cut, and I couldn't talk. I went to open my mouth again, but no sound came out.

"Well?!" My dad yelled.

I jumped out of my skin in response. I wasn't expecting him to yell so loud. I flinched at this. It was like my own father was using growl against me.

I then felt a spurt of adrenaline overtake my body. "It's nothing!" I finally screamed, as I found my voice again. I turned around, for I didn't really know what to do in this scenario. How could I have been so stupid? Why didn't I double check everywhere and make sure I got everything? I then remembered not packing the note into the box. Oh no.. what am I going to tell him? I thought.

"It sure doesn't look like just nothing!" My dad yelled.

Tears welled in my eyes. Why was he yelling at me like this? "Well it is nothing!" I yelled back. "It's just a stupid envelope with my name on it!" I yelled, as I crossed my arms over each other. I felt Mimikyu rub herself against my face again to try to get me to calm down, but it wasn't working. I was shaking now, but I tried my hardest to stay calm.

"Emethyst, turn around and look at me!" My dad growled. "It's not just an envelope! Who gave you this note?!" He yelled.

No, I'm not turning around. Not with the way he's talking to me right now. I thought. "I-I-I don't know." I said, hesitantly and stammering. My heart rate was the only noise that filled the room. I mean, I wasn't lying. I really didn't know.

The next thing I knew, I felt hands wrap around my biceps tightly, to where it hurt. I yelped a bit. On impulse, I used my elbows to stab behind me as hard as I could. I felt my dad's bare torso on my elbows. Mimikyu then went flying off my shoulder. "Kyu!!" She squealed, but she landed just fine thankfully. She looked around frantic, as if she couldn't believe what happened.

"Oh!" My dad grunted; I take he wasn't expecting me to do that. I took a self defense course back when I lived in Lavender Town. Because Lavender Town had a moderate to high crime rate, they made all girls take a self defense course when I was in school there. It was optional for boys, I don't exactly know why.

I then turned around, and saw my dad bent over a bit clutching his stomach area. The purple envelope was now on the floor, my name staring back at me. Tears welled in my eyes. Flashbacks of what Olivia had told me began coming back to me. "He was rough with you." Her voice echoed in my head. "He was rough with you." "He was rough with you." Her voice kept echoing in my head like a broken record. It was like Olivia herself was standing behind me and repeating herself.

My biceps were throbbing a bit from where he had grabbed me. He then straightened up, and looked me right in my eye. I was breathing hard, and I was ready for what he may do next. I stared up at his green framed eyes, locking eye contact.

"What's wrong? Didn't expect me to defend myself?" I snarled a little. One thing you don't do is grab me like that. Mimikyu was now scared, for I could hear her cries behind me. "Kyu! Kyu!"

"You know what," my dad growled. "I'm getting sick and tired of your attitude!" He yelled.

"Well, do you know what I'm getting tired of?! Trying to move forward away from this, and something pulling me back every time!" I exclaimed, still in my stance. I was beginning to feel defeated again. I felt tears well in my eyes once again, as I felt my arms throb in pain from where my father had grabbed me. "But, to answer your question, I don't know who sent me that stupid note and I don't know what "truth" they're talking about. Now leave me alone about it!" I exclaimed. I was so sick and tired of all of this. I just wanted it all to end. It felt like I couldn't get away from it, no matter how hard I tried to forget and move on. The moment when I think things are getting better, they only get worse.

I now felt sick to my stomach, almost similar to how I felt when I heard that kid bragging about abandoning Mimikyu.

I turned back around. I didn't exactly know what to do in this moment. I looked down at Mimikyu, who was crying. I went over to her and picked her up. "I'm sorry you had to witness that." I told her, as I hugged her close. I then sat her in my right shoulder.

"Emethyst, I-" My dad began.

"Save it!" I yelled. "I need to be alone right now." I said, tears beginning to fall from my face as my arms throbbed. With that, I took off running full speed out the door. I didn't bother to close it. I felt Mimikyu holding onto my tanktop strap like a harness so she didn't fall off.

"Emethyst, please wait!" I heard my dad plead behind me.

I didn't answer, I just kept running. I kept running and running. I ran like a Rapidash running away from a Hydro Pump. My phone was hitting my thigh with every step in my sweatpants. My sandals were kicking up sand and grass, but I didn't care. The dirt road turned into grass, as I made my way into a jungle. The trees got denser.

I didn't bother to look back. I just kept running like it was a life or death situation. I didn't care at this point.

Once I knew I was alone, I fell to my knees as I began crying hysterically. Hot tears fell down my face. I just let it all out. My arms were still throbbing in pain. I looked down at my arms, to see distinct red hand prints on each arm from where he grabbed me. Mimikyu jumped off of my shoulder, and then looked up at me. Tears were now forming in her eyes as she looked at me.

"Kyu.." she said in her little voice, as I saw tears fall from her eyes.

"Oh, Mimikyu. I'm so sorry you have to see me like this." I sobbed loudly, as I sat on the ground in front of her in defeat. Anger and sadness gripped me. I was mad at my dad, but I was more mad at myself for not realizing I had forgotten the note. How could I have been so stupid? If I had paid attention, this whole thing wouldn't have even happened. I punched the ground in anger, as I felt my tears falling down my face like a waterfall.

Mimikyu came over to me, and wrapped her shadow arms around me. "Kyu." She said.

Tears in my eyes, I picked Mimikyu up and hugged her like she was my Gengar doll. "Oh Mimikyu, thanks for being there for me like I was there for you." I sobbed, as I looked down at her little beady eyes.

I felt her shadow arms wrap around me, and I hugged her in response. I continued crying, and just let it all out right there.

"Um, excuse me?" I heard a boy's voice say behind me. "Are you okay?" I heard him ask.

I wiped my tears with my thumb. Clutching Mimikyu, I turned around.
