《Pokémon Sun & Moon: Emethyst's Journey》Chapter 40

Before I knew it; The dance had ended. I was exhausted, and was sure I looked an even hotter mess by this point. My braid was frizzy, and I felt my makeup sweating off. I was itching for a shower bad. My feet were also beginning to hurt from the heels.
I pulled my phone out of my breasts, and checked the time. I was surprised to see it was 11pm. I went outside, to see everyone gathered with their moms saying their goodbyes and such. A soft breeze blew around me; cooling me off from the hot and clammy dance hall.
My feet were beginning to kill me, so I took the heels off and carried them back. I decided to head back to the Pokemon Center, and get a head start to the shower before any of the other girls did. However, my feet were hurting really bad, which was slowing me down quite a bit to the point I was limping a bit.
Gengar must have noticed my discomfort, because he did something I wasn't expecting him to do. He got on all fours, and lowered his back. "Uh, Gengar.. you want me to get on your back?" I asked him, as I stopped walking.
"Gengar, Gengar!" He exclaimed, as he nodded, still on all fours.
I smiled. "Wow, such a big gentle Pokemon. You would never do this as a Haunter." I said, as I sat on his back princess style, seemed how I was wearing a dress. Froslass also got on with me, and sat next to me. I never realized I could ride on Gengar's back, especially with how big he was. I looked around his back behind me, and noticed he could probably fit one more person and their Pokemon on here, depending on what the Pokemon was. He floated up just slightly above the ground. However this made me nervous, because I turned into a big sissy when it came to heights. I was maybe five feet off the ground.
"Please don't go any higher than this." I told him, as I looked down at him. He was floating slowly, and being gentle. It surprised me, because he was so rambunctious as a Haunter. Maybe evolution also helped maturity? I patted his back, as I felt his spikes. He still felt insubstantial, like he could melt away any second.
"There you are!" I heard my dad exclaim, as he caught up with us. "You disappeared so suddenly." He said. I was eye level with him now, thanks to Gengar.
I nodded. "Yeah, my feet were beginning to hurt and I wanted a headstart so I could shower." I said. My feet felt so much better now that I was off of them. "I could barely walk, so Gengar gave me a lift." I giggled, as I patted his back.
"So I see," My dad said. "Now that I do think of it, he is big enough to be a ride Pokemon." He said, and smiled.
I tilted my head to the side at him, confused, still clutching my heels. "Ride Pokemon?" I asked. I had never heard of such a thing. I mean, I knew some Pokemon were ridable, such as Ponyta and Rapidash.

"Yes. People all over Alola use ride Pokemon from time to time. Kiawe has a Charizard as his ride Pokemon, and Lana has a Lapras. It looks like you now have Gengar." My dad smiled and explained.
I nodded and smiled, as I now understood. "Wow. Looks like I get to go to Pokemon School in style now." I giggled and winked. I looked down at Gengar. "That's if Gengar is okay with letting me ride him more often, right buddy?" I said, as I rubbed his spikes again.
"Gengar!" Gengar nodded happily. Looks like I would be riding Gengar more now.
"Oh yeah, I have a small question for you, Emethyst." My dad said, as he looked off to the side as if he were nervous.
I looked at him, a little nervous now. What could he possibly want to ask me? "I might have a small answer." I said, trying not to come off as nervous and smiled.
"Did you dance with anyone at the dance tonight?" He asked.
I felt my right eyebrow raise, and my nose scrunch. I thought for a moment, but couldn't remember clearly with all of the events that happened earlier. "No, I don't think so. Just with you earlier when the slow dance happened." I explained, and shrugged. "Why?" I asked.
"Oh," my dad said nervously. "No reason. Was just wondering is all." He said, I could tell he was trying to play it off. However, I did think it was kind of weird that he would ask me a question like that, but I blew it off.
I looked to my right, and saw the Pokemon Center coming into view. I felt so relieved at this sight, because I was so ready to take a shower and dress back into my comfortable sweatpants and tank top. I took a deep breath, and let out a loud sigh. "Ugh, I am exhausted. Tonight was a night out of my dreams." I said, as I looked up at the dark sky and glittery stars.
"So, you saw your mom..." I heard my dad's voice say. I then looked back over at him, and saw he was smiling. He didn't appear mad, which surprised me. I nodded my head in response.
"Yeah, I did. She told me everything..." I said, as I felt my heart sink into my stomach a bit. That familiar feeling of sadness coming over me again.
"What did she tell you?" My dad asked.
I looked down at the moving sidewalk, as I recalled what she told me. "Well, she told me the wreck was her fault because she had been texting and driving..." I said, my voice cracking a little. "But, she also told me she didn't feel any pain. She said she went on contact." I said, tears welling in my eyes, but I choked them back as much as I could. I was tired of crying.
My dad put his hand on my face, as if to console me. "I saw her too, you know." He said, softly as he rubbed his thumb on my cheek.

My vision became glossy when he told me that. "You.. you did?" I stammered, as I put my hand over his.
My dad nodded his head. "Yes. It was something I needed, Emethyst. Just like I knew it was something you needed. I'm so sorry I've given you such a hard time for the duration you've been here." He said, as he looked at me kind of sadly.
Tears began streaming down my face like waterfalls, but I was getting tired of this. "Ugh, I'm so sick of crying," I said, as I rubbed my face free of tears. "And it's okay dad." I sobbed.
"Emethyst, it's okay to cry. It's okay to acknowledge pain," My dad said, as he continued consoling me. "But I'm going to try my hardest to make sure you never cry because you're heartbroken ever again." He said.
"Gengar, stop for a moment." I said, as I looked down at him. Gengar then came to halt. On impulse, I jumped off of his back onto my achy and sore feet, and fell into my dad's arms, dropping my heels onto the concrete. I realized there was something I hadn't done yet. "Dad, I almost forgot something. Thank you." I said, as I hugged him willingly.
"Um, you're welcome, I think?" He said, giggling a little.
"No dad, thank you for taking me in," I said. A feeling of joy was now in my chest, as I began crying again. "Thank you for bringing me home to Alola, and most of all, thank you for taking the time to help me heal." I cried, as I hugged him even tighter.
My dad didn't say anything, except for responding by hugging me tighter. "Oh Emethyst, I'm so sorry for everything." He finally said, his voice cracking.
I rubbed my eyes, as I looked back up at his green framed eyes. "Dad, you don't have to apologize to me, anymore." I said, as I smiled through my tears. "I want to move forward." I said, as I felt a tear fall down my cheek. With the closure that I got tonight; I knew I was one hundred percent ready to start my new life in Alola. No more looking back; No more dwelling on my mother's death.
I saw a tear or two form in my dad's eyes. He didn't say anything, but responded by hugging me again. We stayed that way for a good minute or so. I then felt Gengar and Froslass hug us as well. I felt so loved in that moment. Even more loved than when my mother was alive.
"Come on," my dad said finally. "You need to get in bed. We go back home tomorrow." He said, softly.
I nodded, for I was exhausted and ready to get in bed, anyway. I picked up my heels, and began walking.
"Are you okay to walk?" My dad asked, as he put his arm around me.
I nodded, for my feet weren't as achy and sore as before. I could last until I got to my room. "Yeah I should be able to." I said. I clutched my heels and we started walking over to the Pokemon Center. My feet were hurting, but I was bound and determined to make it back to my room without needing any help.
Finally, my dad, Froslass, Gengar and I had walked through the automatic doors. Nurse Joy wasn't at her desk, and the Pokemon Center was eerie, for there was no one around. Then again, it was probably about to hit midnight now. All four of us walked down the hall to the rooms.
"Alright," my dad said. "Here we are." He said, as we all stopped in the middle of the hallway.
"Thanks Dad." I said, as I unlocked the door to my room.
"Oh! I almost forgot!" My dad exclaimed quietly, as he reached into his lab coat pocket and presented me with my Z Crystal from earlier. I gasped, because I had forgotten about it myself.
"Don't feel bad, I did too for a bit." I giggled, as I took the crystal back from him. I examined it's purple shein, similar to mom's megastone.
"Looks like we'll need to focus on getting you a Z ring now. I'll take you to see Kahuna Hala this weekend sometime." My dad said, warmly. "You may even get to have your grand trial." He said, excitedly.
I nodded. "Sounds like fun. I look forward to it." I said. I didn't exactly know what a grand trial was, but I was too tired and uncomfortable to question it. "Alright dad," I said. "I'm gonna shower then get in bed."
"I'm gonna do the same," my dad said. "I'll see you in the morning, Emethyst. I love you." He said, as he hugged me.
I smiled at that. "I love you too, dad." I said, as I hugged him back. I turned back to the door, and opened it. Froslass, Gengar, and I went inside the room, as I closed the door behind us. The air conditioning felt amazing after the long night I had. It was quiet, which told me I was the only one here besides my Pokemon.
I sat my heels down at the entrance, z crystal still in hand. I walked to the bathroom, and went for my Gastly evolution backpack. I turned on the light, and walked over to it. I unzipped the small pouch on the front, and popped the z crystal in there so I didn't lose it. I then went into the main compartment, and got out my freshly washed sweatpants and tank top. I then looked in the bottom, to find the video tapes and CDs I had packed that I completely forgot about.
I thought for a moment, as I looked at them. I knew what I had to do now.

A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance.
