《Pokémon Sun & Moon: Emethyst's Journey》Chapter 38

As soon as I saw that notification, my phone dropped out of my hand onto the grass. I was crept out, and it took alot to make me scared.
"Is this some kind of sick joke or something!?" I called out. I was now shaking, as I looked back down at my phone on the grass. The notification stared back at me, the text's bold letters felt like they were looking into my soul. I felt my heartbeat in my throat. It was like I was in some sick, twisted horror movie.
I picked up my phone, locked it, and shoved it back into my breasts. The fog had intensified now, to where I could barely tell where I was. I was so confused. Why was it daytime? It was like an overcast, cloudy day.
I heard footsteps nearby. I looked ahead, and saw a figure coming through the dense fog. I squinted my eyes, for I couldn't tell what it was at first. The closer the figure moved, the more I could distinguish what it was. It looked to be a woman. The fog cleared up more, showing who it was.
There are no words to describe what I was feeling in that moment. A woman who I recognized very easily came out of the fog. The glittery white dress, the long black hair, and her vivid green eyes.
"Hi." My mother's familiar voice came from the woman.
I didn't say a word, instead I ran straight at her. Like some form of magic, I was running in heels. "Mom?! Mommy?!" I yelled out, my voice turning into a little baby's. Tears began to fall down my face uncontrollably as I fell into her arms. She was warm like Alola's sun, and I felt her arms wrap around me. I couldn't believe it. It had finally happened.
"Oh, there's my beautiful baby girl." My mother's warm voice said. I began to cry even harder. "Oh Emethyst, you look so beautiful." She said.
"Oh mom, I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!!" I cried hysterically like a broken record. I was sure my makeup was a hot mess now, but I didn't care. I had dreamt of this moment for so long.
"Froslass!" Froslass exclaimed, as she wrapped her humanoid arms around us both.
"Oh baby, it's okay," my mom said warmly. "I knew you didn't mean what you said." She said. She then turned her attention to Froslass. "Oh, Froslass. My other beautiful baby girl. Look at you." She said, as hugged Froslass and I tightly.
My mom then looked up at Haunter. "Oh wow, Haunter. You've grown since the last time I seen you." She said, as she reached over to scratch his head.
I smiled through my tears. "Haunter is above average, according to Nurse Joy." I said, tears falling down my face like a waterfall. I then looked at my mother's bright, beautiful face. The one that was on my phone that I longed to see in person again. "Oh mom I'm so sorry!" I blurted out, not being able to hold it in as I hugged her tighter. I knew I was probably gonna say that a thousand times.
"No Emethyst," My mom said. "I should be the one saying I'm sorry." She said, as she hugged me close.
The tears continued falling, and I was now confused. I was the one who told her own mother that she hated her over something so temporary. "Why?" I said, not understanding.

"Well, I should of told my job that time with my daughter was more important than them," she said. "And I also shouldn't have been texting and driving. The wreck was my fault, baby. But, don't worry. I went on contact. I didn't feel any pain." She said, hugging me tighter.
My heart broke completely when I heard these words, the tears coming on stronger. "But that means if I would have never sent you that text-"
"Emethyst, it's okay. It was my time to go, baby." She said, cutting me off and hugging me tighter. The familiar smell of her perfume hit my nose. This caused me to cry even more. "You can't keep beating yourself up over this." She said.
My mom then let go of me and looked down at my outfit. "Wow, I love that dress on you, baby. You'd make Fantina jealous." She smiled.
I raised my eyebrow, confused. "Um, who's Fantina?" I asked.
"Oh, she's a ghost gym leader in the Sinnoh region. I had to go up against her to get Froslass's Dawn Stone." She explained.
That then reminded me of the day that I came home to find Froslass, and not Snorunt. "I never understood why you evolved Snorunt." I said.
My mom got the giggles. "Oh my, I remember. You got so upset with me. But, actually Emethyst, I evolved Snorunt for a totally different reason than you think. I never told you why." She said, as she looked at me lovingly. I got lost in her green eyes. Why did I have to get my dad's eyes and not hers? Ugh.
"Why?" I asked.
"Well, when you were really little, I always knew you were going to have a thing for ghost type Pokemon. I always called you my little Hex girl when you were a baby." My mom giggled, recalling the memories. "Ghosts used to come see you all the time. It used to scare me, but you loved them and I grew used to it. So, I wanted a Pokemon that would signify my love for you, and also for ice types," she continued.
It was then that I finally understood. It touched my heart so much, that I began crying again. "Oh, mom!" I cried. "Is that why you moved us to Lavender Town?" I asked.
My mom nodded yes. "Partially. Main reason being the rent was cheap." She smiled.
"Oh mom.. I've dreamt of this moment for so long." I said, as I looked at her. Her green eyes then went to my chest, and I guess she noticed I was wearing her megastone.
My mom let out a sigh, as she put her hand on the megastone. "Oh my, I just realized you were wearing this." My mom said warmly. "You've used mega evolution?" She asked me.
I smiled lightly. "Y-yeah." I stammered. "Froslass and I have battled a few times together." I said. "She's very strong."
With that, Froslass grabbed the necklace and lifted it over my head, and immediately tried to put it back on my mom. My mom took it from her, and put it on. She picked it up, and looked at it as it dangled from her neck. "I never thought I'd see this thing again." She said.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, and old short man appeared out of the mist. My mom and I looked over at him, to make sure we were both seeing the same thing. He had a long gray beard, and wore a tan colored outfit. He also wore shoes that propped him up a bit.

He began laughing like a maniac.
"I'm sorry, but can we help you?" I asked, as I looked down at him.
"Oh, don't you mind!" He exclaimed in his brassy voice. "Tapu Fini has been watching you for your duration here on Poni Island!" He exclaimed. "It sees great potential, and is very touched by this reunion here that it wants to see you two have a Pokemon battle!" He exclaimed.
My mom and I looked at each other. I was sure our facial expressions were mirrored. My mom looked at me with wide eyes, that she couldn't believe this was happening and neither could I.
"Me and my mom?" I asked the old man. I couldn't believe this was happening. Tapu Fini's been watching me? What?
"But of course!" The old man exclaimed. "You and your Haunter, versus your mother and her Froslass!"
My mom then looked down at me, and she looked determined. "Alright, let's go. What do you say, baby?" She asked.
I looked over at Haunter. "What do you say, buddy? Want to battle with Froslass and mom?" I asked. Haunter then nodded his head yes, and got that familiar angry expression on his face. "Okay," I said. "You're on, mom." I smiled.
"Alright! This will be a one on one battle. The battle will continue until either side's Pokemon is unable to battle!" The old man exclaimed. "Begin!"
I took a deep breath. I couldn't believe this was happening. "Haunter, use Shadow Ball!" I exclaimed. I watched Haunter rise up, and shoot his shadow ball at my mother's icy beauty.
"Dodge it Froslass! Use Ice Beam!" My mother exclaimed. Froslass rose in the air, and her familiar Ice Beam shot from her mouth. I could hardly believe I was battling with my mother.
"Haunter, dodge it! Now paralyze using lick!" I exclaimed. Haunter moved out of the way just in time and got his tongue ready as he went for Froslass. Haunter got so close, but Froslass moved out of the way just in time. I was now nervous. My mother had the upper hand because she could mega evolve Froslass at anytime. I doubted I was going to beat her.
"Froslass, use Shadow Ball!" My mother called out, as she pointed at Haunter. Froslass charged her shadow ball, and shot it straight at Haunter.
"Dodge it Haunter! Try to paralyze again with lick!" I exclaimed. I knew sludge bomb wouldn't have been very effective, so I had to keep going with ghost moves. If I could at least get Haunter to hit her just one good time, I might have this.
However, I saw Haunter pick up speed, and now he looked angry. He floated aggressively at Froslass with his tongue out, and licked Froslass on her face. Froslass let out a cry, and fell to the ground.
I jumped up and down in my heels. "Yes yes! Alright Haunter!" I exclaimed.
I heard my mom's laughter from across the way. "I'm so sorry baby, but I have to do this." She said, as she held onto her megastone. She then got a determined look. "Alright Froslass, it's time for mega evolution!"
I watched as Froslass grew into her captivating Mega Evolution. It was hard being on the receiving end of this, but I wasn't going to lose this. I knew I had to find a way.
Okay. I thought. My mom's first move is probably going to be blizzard. If I can get Haunter to float up high, then he might be able to dodge it. I thought.
"Alright Froslass, it's time to give it your best shot, beautiful!" My mother exclaimed, her voice full of emotion. "Blow Haunter away with your blizzard!" Froslass charged her blizzard, but I wasn't going to give up.
"Haunter! Float up as high as you can! Hurry!" I told him, instantly. "Haunt!" Haunter nodded, as I saw him float up straight into the mist. I couldn't see him anymore, but I knew he was safe. Froslass blew her blizzard.
"What?!" My mother exclaimed. She could barely believe it. "WOW, Emethyst! You've gotten better!" She exclaimed.
"Thank you, mom." I said. "Haunter! Can you hear me, buddy?" I called up into the sky. The mist was so thick, I could hardly see him.
"Haunt!" He called out. That's when I got an idea. The mist was so thick, that Haunter couldn't even be seen. If I can get Haunter to sneak up on Froslass, I might have this.
"Haunter! Use the mist to your advantage! Stay hidden as much as possible! Then use Shadow Ball!" I called out into the sky.
"Impressive." I heard the old man say on the sidelines. I smiled at his comment. Sometimes all you had to do was think outside the box.
I then saw Haunter come out of the mist full speed at Froslass, but there was something different about him. His eyes were now red, and he shot a whole slew of Shadow Balls at her. He began to glow. I froze in space as I realized what was happening. My mouth fell open at what I was seeing. The spikes on his back began to grow, and he now had arms and legs. He then stopped glowing, and there he was. My dream, right before my eyes.
"Gengar!" Gengar exclaimed, as he floated down at Froslass, and began scratching her repeatedly. Shadow Claw. I thought. I couldn't believe what I was watching. Gengar was literally murdering my mother's Mega Froslass.
My mother was in so much shock, that she forgot to give Froslass any orders. Froslass then fainted, her eyes now had swirls in them. She then went back to her normal size.
My mouth continued to gape open. I couldn't believe what I just watched. I felt like I was having this really amazing dream that I didn't want to wake up from. The old man then walked over to Froslass, and examined her.
"Froslass is unable to battle, thus the winner is you!" He said, as he pointed at me with his wooden cane. Is this really happening? I pinched myself to make sure.
My mother then walked over to Froslass and helped her up. "Good job, beautiful. You were amazing out there." She said, as she hugged her tight.
Gengar then landed in front of me. He looked at me happily. "Oh, Gengar.. I can't believe I'm calling you that." I said, as I hugged him. He was gigantic. He was definitely bigger than five foot five. I couldn't believe it. "You evolved so you could win this, didn't you?" I said.
Gengar nodded happily. "Gengar Gengar!" He cheered.
"Wait until the others see you!" I exclaimed as I hugged him tight. I began crying tears of joy.
The old man then walked over to me. "Well young lady, that was some fine battling out there. Tapu Fini wants to give you something." He said. It was then that this odd looking Pokemon came in front of me. It was purple and black, and had a fairy bird like appearance. It was difficult to explain, really.
"Tapu Fini!" The guardian said, in it's haunting voice. I felt something drop into my hands. It was a purple diamond shaped crystal of sorts. Wait.... A Z crystal?!
"Congratulations, baby! That's a ghostium z!" My mother cheered, as she hugged me tight as she always did.
I couldn't believe what was happening. I felt like I was living in this dream that I didn't want to wake up from. I got to see my mother, Haunter evolved, and I got a Z crystal?! "Shut... Up...." I said, as I felt like I was going to faint.
My mother then gave me a hug, and took off her mega stone. She then put it back on my neck. "It looks better on you, baby." She said, as she hugged me. "Oh Emethyst, I'm so proud of you." She said.
"Thanks mom." I said, as I hugged her tight.
"You have a dance to get back to," she winked. "I love you so much." She then turned to Froslass and Gengar. "Froslass, Gengar.. You two keep an eye on my beautiful baby girl for me." She said. Froslass and Gengar began crying.
However, I began to cry. I didn't want her to go, now that I had seen her. "But mom, I don't want you to go..." I cried, as I hugged her close.
My mom then hugged me tight. "Emethyst, I'll always be with you," she said. She looked me in my eyes. "When you see a Luvdisc, that's me telling you I love you. When you feel a slight breeze, that's me hugging you. When you feel a slight chill, that's me kissing you," She said. "And, when you battle with Froslass and you mega evolve her, all three of our hearts are joined together." She said, lovingly.
Tears welled in my eyes, as I hugged her one last time. "Okay, mom... I love you so much." I said, as I made that last hug count.
"I love you so much too, baby." My mother's warm voice echoed.
The mist vanished, and I was now back in the middle of the woods with Froslass and Gengar, hugging nothing but air.

8 209Gods How I Hate Nature
While there are always choices in life, lately they’ve all tended to skew between bad, terrible, and suicidal. Tome finds himself typically choosing the latter. As if people and plants consistently trying to kill him wasn’t bad enough, he finds himself sent off to a Mage Spire along with a self-righteous other worlder (as though there were any other kind). Add to this some powerful figures in black, a sadistic instructor, an uptight law keeper, and Tome just wants to go back to his room, down a pint, and forget about everything… But, when someone starts a fight, especially someone bigger and stronger, you bide your time and strength. Before you can get revenge, you have to settle for surviving and slowly gaining power. That means accepting the most suicidal choices, doing the jobs no one else will do, always smiling, and not slitting that other worlder’s throat… (The story will incorporate comedy, but it will be a dark story. This won't be a happy, uplifting tale, but it also won't be too morose or depressing. Though if you're rooting for the other worlders, then I suppose it will be...)
