《Pokémon Sun & Moon: Emethyst's Journey》Chapter 34

Tears blinding my vision, I ran outside into the Alolan night. I could see Froslass floating by my side in my blinded teary vision. I ran out onto the dock, and fell to my knees. I let out a loud scream, and punched the dock. It hurt, but it felt good. I was so upset, and I didn't understand why my dad had acted the way he did.

"Froslass." Froslass said, as she hugged me from behind. She was trying to console me, but it just wasn't working. I cried hysterically. I didn't see anyone of my classmates around. The only noises I could hear was the light splashing of the water below me, and a few Pokemon cries I had never heard before.

I turned around to face Froslass. "Oh Froslass, I don't get it.." I said, as I looked at her face. "Why did he act like that?" I sobbed. Her mostly white body was illuminated in the night, like snow on a cold winter's night.

Froslass grabbed my hand, and pulled on it to try to get me to stand up. I sighed, as I let her help me up. I knew I would have to suck up my emotional pain for the moment, and find Haunter. I didn't even know where to search.

I looked around, and noticed there was a forest behind the Pokemon Center. I guess I could start there? "Come on, Froslass." I sniffed, as I wiped my eyes with my hoodie sleeve. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, and turned on the flashlight. Oh Haunter... Where could you have gone?

Kukui sat on the couch in total darkness. The only light in the room was from the moon through the nearby window. He took off his glasses, and rubbed his eyes stressfully as he tried not to cry.

"Ugh, Emethyst," he said to himself. "It's not Haunter that's the problem. It's Tapu Fini." He said. The real reason why he didn't want to help look for Haunter was the risk of running into Tapu Fini, and worst of all, going into the mist. After the talk with Olivia; He was still unsure if it was worth the risk.

His mind then jumped to the fight with Emethyst. He felt like he was arguing with a female clone of himself. "I see way too much of myself in her.." he said. He sighed, because it was true. He felt like he was looking at a mirrored image of himself. He got up, and looked out the window. The moon and stars sparkled brightly in the dark blue sky. He knew what he had to do, and it was time to face his fears, as much as he didn't want to.

He walked back over to the couch to retrieve his glasses, and put them back on his face.

"I'm coming, Emethyst." He said, as he ran out of his room and shut the door behind him.

"Haunter!!" I called out. "Where are you?!" I yelled. I was in a dense forest. It was dark, and the only source of light was the moon above me and my phone's flashlight.

"Froslass!" Froslass called, I assumed to be shouting for Haunter as well.

There was no reply, or answer. It was really quiet. It was an eerie, like I was in a horror movie and the killer was nearby type of feeling. Not even Lavender Town at night gave me this much paranoia.

"Ugh, where could he have gotten off to?!" I exclaimed angrily. I rubbed my face stressfully, for I was really about to get worried. It wasn't like him to just float off like this.

By some form of lucky fate, My ears heard Haunter's familiar cry coming from nearby. "Haunter?!" I called out, excitedly, as I ran towards the direction of where his cries had come from. "Come on, Froslass!" I called out to her.

Haunter's cries then came again; This time from the left of me. I felt like I was playing one of those games where you were blindfolded, and you had to go by your sense of hearing to find the person. I forget what the game was called.

I came to a clearing, and heard Haunter's cries again. It was then that I had found him, but I saw he wasn't alone. There were three people surrounding him. All three were dressed in black and white, and they had what looked like a skull and crossbones on their tank tops. There was one girl with pink hair, and two boys. One of the boys had blue hair and was rather skinny. The other boy was chubby and had dark gray, almost black hair. They had black and white bandanas covering their mouths and noses. They looked like bad news. It was then I realized what they were trying to do. They had Pokeballs in their hands.

"HAUNTER!" I exclaimed. "STOP! HE'S MINE!" I called out to them. "HE'S MY POKEMON!" I exclaimed, as I ran up to them almost tripping on twigs in my path.

Haunter then noticed me, and immediately floated over to me. He looked scared, and hid behind me. He's never done that before.

The girl and two boys had noticed me, and now looked like they wanted a fight. "Oh, says who?! He was out here all by himself!" The blue haired skinny boy barked. "That makes him fair game!" He growled.

"Get her, big bro!" The pink haired girl barked.

I could tell this wasn't going to end nicely, but Haunter was my baby. I would protect him no matter what it meant. No way these three psychos were taking him from me.

"Hey, back off." I bucked up. I stood up straight and made fists at my side. "Stay behind me, Haunter." I said as I looked at him from behind me.

"I'll finish you!" The blue haired boy said, as he grabbed a Pokeball from his pocket. "Salandit! Go!" He exclaimed.

A Pokemon I had never seen before materialized in my sight. It was black and red, and had a lizard like body. It also had purple eyes. I didn't know what it's typing was, but I wasn't going to cower away. Ugh, where's Rotom Dex when I need him?

"Go, Zubat!" The pink haired girl exclaimed, a Zubat appearing in front of her from her Pokeball.

"Go, Garboder!" The chubby dark gray haired boy exclaimed.

I was outnumbered, but I definitely wasn't going to cower away. "Go, Froslass!" I exclaimed. Froslass then floated in front of me, as she looked determined.

"Salandit, use flame burst!" The blue haired boy called.

"Zubat, use supersonic!" The pink haired girl barked.

"Garboder, venoshock now!" The gray haired boy called.

I looked at Froslass with confidence. "Froslass, float up and dodge them all!" I called out to her. "Then, use Ice Beam!"

Froslass responded by floating up into the air, causing all of the attacks to hit each other at once. She then charged her ice beam attack. Her ice beam hit the Salandit, or whatever it was. But, it barely did anything.

"Leave it to me." the blue haired boy said.

"But big bro-" The pink haired girl whined.

"I said leave it!" He snarled "Ice types like that wack Froslass are weak to fire types." He sneered. The other two then backed away.

Oh no he didn't. Now I was pissed. You don't call my mother's most loved Pokemon wack. So what if you have the type advantage? I won't lose this, and I will make sure of that. I knew what I now had to do.

"Oh really?" I snarled. "You think my Froslass is wack? I'll show you wack, BRO!" I yelled angrily, as I pulled the megastone out of my hoodie. It glistened in the moonlight, and the three psychos noticed it right away. The blue haired boy, however, looked at it as if he couldn't believe what it was.

"What's the matter?" I barked. "You never seen a mega stone before?!" I yelled. "Alright Froslass! My beautiful icy sweetheart, it's time for mega evolution!" I called out.

Froslass then grew into her beautiful, shiny Gardevoir-like nine foot tall evolution. I almost forgot what she looked like when she was like this, and she was captivating.

The three psychos eyes widened ten times in size, for they couldn't believe what they had just saw. The blue haired boy then studied me from head to toe, as if he were sizing me up and taking note of every little detail on my appearance.

"Any last words before Froslass's blizzard blows you all away??" I asked, as I stood up straight with my hands balled up into fists by my side. I wasn't losing this battle.

"Is it me, or does she favor that dimwit Kukui?" I heard the blue haired boy quietly say to the other two behind him.

"You know I can hear you!" I called out at them. "And yes, to answer your question, Professor Kukui is my father! What's it to you?" I called out, as I crossed my arms over my chest. Not like it mattered anyway. Froslass idled in front me, as she waited for them to make an attack. "Are you gonna make a move, or what?" I asked, as I waited on him.

All three of them then laughed. They all took out their Pokeballs, and told all of their Pokemon to return.

"You can keep your Haunter. We'll let this one slide, but you're not off the hook. Guzma will definitely hear about this one!" The blue haired boy called out. All three of them ran off into the woods.

Froslass then returned to her normal size, as I tried to comprehend what just happened. "What the hell was that?" I asked out loud. I then turned to Haunter, to make sure he was okay. "Are you okay, buddy?" I asked, as I put my hands around him and hugged him.

"Haunter!" He cheered, as he made one of his funny faces. I laughed in response, for I was thankful that I got him back safe and sound.

"Please for the love of Pokemon never float off like that again! I was so worried." I said, as I hugged his gaseous body.

I then heard footsteps near by. "Emethyst?!" I heard my dad's familiar voice call out in the trees. My heart skipped. He came to look for me after all.

"Dad?" I called out. My dad's shirtless, labcoated figure then emerged from the treeline. He ran at me quicker than a quick attack. Before I knew it, I was in his arms.

"Oh Emethyst. I'm so sorry." He said, as he hugged me tight like a wrap attack. "I shouldn't have acted like that."

I smiled, happy that he apologized. "It's okay dad," I groaned. "But you're kind of hurting my back." I said, as he was putting pressure in the middle of my back. He then put me back down on my feet gently. "I got Haunter back, safe and sound." I said, as I turned to him and scratched his head.

"So I see." My dad said, and smiled. "I'm happy you found him safe and sound." He said.

"Me too. I was so worried." I said. I almost opened my mouth to tell him about the three psychos from earlier, but I decided against it. I didn't think it was that big of a deal.

"Alright, let's get back to the Pokemon Center. We have somewhat of a big day tomorrow." He said, as he put his arm around my shoulders. "I'm sorry again, Emethyst." He said. We then walked back towards the Pokemon Center.

I looked up at him and smiled. "It's okay dad. Oh, and I'm sorry for swearing at you earlier." I said. I never did apologize for that.

"It's okay." He said. "Just don't let it happen again." He said kind of sternly.

"I won't." I said. I took a deep breath and sighed. For some reason, I was beginning to hate getting in fights with him and regretting how I reacted. I guess that's maybe something I could work on.
