Meanwhile later, Elijah had made it to the safe house, where Hayley and Ophelia were updating him on what happened, "Of course we tried to call you, Elijah!" Hayley told Elijah, "But since Dahlia was able to take down both Klaus and Mikael, I'm guessing that a cell phone tower was a piece of cake."
"And where were the wolves who stood guard?" Elijah questioned the two women unhappily.
"Getting their asses handed to them by Dahlia, just like Klaus did the night before!" Ophelia shouted at Elijah angrily.
Just then, Klaus arrived joined them in the jazz club, "That's it--the two of you are coming with me to the compound." He demanded, pointing toward Ophelia and Hayley.
Hayley gave Klaus an incredulous look, "Where Dahlia sent Josephine this morning? No way! We'd be sitting ducks, just like we will be here as soon as that spell breaks,'" She told Klaus, just before letting out a large sigh, "Which is why we have to go.
Elijah looked at her in alarm, and Klaus did not seem at all happy by the news either, "Jackson is out getting supplies, and then we're taking the wolves and we're headed to the Bayou with Ophelia." Hayley explained, causing Ophelia to frown in confusion.
"Hey, I never---" Ophelia began to say, but was immediately cut off by Klaus.
"The swamp? So my child and Ophelia can be protected by the very wolves Dahlia so easily defeated?" Klaus asked Hayley unamused, "Absolutely not!"
Hayley shoved past Elijah, shoulder-checking him in the process, and aggressively got in Klaus' face, causing Ophelia to sigh in defeat, "You know, I am so over taking advice from you, Klaus. All it has done so far is put Hope in danger. From now on, I am going to do what I want to do and there's no way in hell I'm going to leave Ophelia under your protection. We're leaving. Come on, Ophelia."
Before Ophelia could react, Hayley grabbed her by the arm and tried to push past Klaus, who shoved her backward to stop her, accidentally doing the same to Ophelia while doing so, "You're not going anywhere unless I tell you to." Klaus told the two women in a low tone.
Ophelia scoffed, having enough of Klaus telling her what to do. Even if she wasn't okay with Hayley's plan, there was no way she was going to let Klaus talk to her like that, "I've told you this before, Klaus," She shouted at Klaus angrily, "We are not your prisoners!"
Just as Klaus was about to speak up in argument, Elijah cut him off, "Both of you, please," He warned them, "We're playing into Dahlia's hands."
"Not doing as I say plays into her hands!" Klaus shouted, turning to face Elijah, "While you three have been kowtowing to Freya and devising ways to flee with your tail between your legs, I've been forging a new path. I know what Freya was planning, and I know how to kill Dahlia." He informed the group, "Freya objected to us making a single weapon because it spoiled her plan."

Suddenly, Klaus was interrupted by the sound of Jackson's angry voice calling out from the entrance hall, "Klaus!" he shouted out, causing Ophelia to frown in concern.
She, Hayley, and Elijah turned to look at Jackson, who came in with Aiden's dead body over his shoulder and another werewolf guard following behind him.
"Jack?" Ophelia asked Jackson in concern as her husband called out for Klaus. She suddenly gasped when she saw Aiden's body and immediately looked horrified, "Oh, my God."
Jackson and the other werewolf placed Aiden's body on a table in the next room, and Klaus and Elijah followed Hayley and Ophelia in to investigate, "What happened?" Hayley asked Jackson in concern.
"Klaus made Aiden spy on us. Instead, he told me everything," Jackson informed the group, causing Ophelia to turn to Klaus, noticing that for a split second, Klaus looked shocked, "So you killed him."
Klaus looked down at Aiden's body with a blank face, and Hayley looked at Klaus with a look of betrayal. Ophelia, on the other hand, had an unreadable expression on her face, one that looked neither calm nor sad about the fact that one of the pack members she was closest to was killed.
"You killed one of the wolves sworn to protect our daughter?" Hayley asked Klaus in disbelief.
She, Jackson, and the other werewolf stared Klaus down, and Elijah looked at Klaus, not sure what to believe. Klaus turned to look at Ophelia with an upset look on his face for a brief moment, only to watch as she avoided eye contact with him, which pushed him over the edge.
Klaus' saddened look immediately faded. He pushed it down an began to lie to the group, which Ophelia seemed to be the only one to notice, "So what if I did?" He asked, putting on a show as he pointed at Aiden's body, "This is what happens to anyone who dares cross me!"
"Just give us the word, Jackson." The werewolf standing next to Jackson told his alpha.
"Yes! Come and have a go!" Klaus shouted daringly, "But you'll be putting your life on the line for one who is all too willing to betray you. Perhaps this never would have happened if he'd had a real Alpha."
Furious by the man's words, Jackson lunged for Klaus and punched him in the face, which was all the invitation Klaus needs to fight back with all his pent-up rage. He pushed Jackson backward into the other wolves who had come to defend their Alphas. When Hayley vamp-sped over to Klaus to get between them, Klaus punched Hayley in the stomach so hard she was thrown to the side.
Elijah turned to Ophelia for a split second, wondering why she was just standing there. He gave her a pleading look, causing Ophelia to sigh in defeat. The female tribrid jumped into the fray and lunged between Klaus and Jackson, placing a hand on both of their chests, "Stop!" She shouted in a stern tone.

Quickly, Elijah stepped forward, allowing Ophelia to step back as Elijah took her place in between the two males, "Do you wish to die?" Elijah asked Jackson in a threatening tone.
Hayley, furious, vamp-sped to her feet and shoved Elijah away from them, "You wanna kill me, too, Elijah?" She asked Elijah angrily.
Elijah looked hurt and stood in front of Klaus, who looked pleased with this outcome, "If you come at him, you come at me."
"You lot should make better use of your time. I suggest burying your dead." Klaus commented, clearly trying to make matters worse.
"Get out!" Hayley shouted at him angrily.
"Niklaus, you mentioned a plan. I recommend you begin. Hayley, Ophelia, and Hope are safe for the time being and not going anywhere." Elijah instructed in a stern tone.
Klaus smirked smugly at Hayley and the werewolves, "Shan't be long." He fake whispered before he walked away, leaving Elijah alone with Hayley and Jackson.
Just then, Ophelia began to walk away from the group, causing them to frown, "Where do you think you're going, Ophelia?" Elijah asked Ophelia, who ignored him as she exited the club and chased after Klaus.
Once making it outside, Ophelia rushed after Klaus outside, her eyes were filled with tears as she confronted him, "Tell me you didn't do it." She suddenly spoke up, her voice sounding fragile.
Klaus stopped dead in his tracks and sighed deeply, "Tell me you didn't kill Aiden." She pleaded, trying her hardest not to cry as his back faced her.
"Ophelia--" Klaus began to say, turning to face Ophelia, who looked as though she was on the verge on crying.
"You admitted that you killed him, but I know you. You've done a lot of bad things, but there's no way you killed him. Not at a time like this," Ophelia explained to Klaus, shaking her head in disbelief, "Tell me the truth. Tell me you didn't kill him."
Klaus' mouth gaped open, trying to gain the strength to lie to her, "I killed him." He lied to her with a straight face.
Klaus turned away from her and continued to walk down the street. Not taking the hint, Ophelia started to follow him, looking even more upset, "I still don't believe you." She told him once more, causing Klaus to stop walking.
He turned back to her, looking upset about the conversation they were having as he walked closer to her, "Why is it so hard to believe that I killed him?" He asked her, clearly growing frustrated with her disbelief.
"Because I know you!" Ophelia shouted at Klaus, the tears finally falling down her cheeks, "I noticed the way you looked at Aiden's body when Jackson brought him in. You didn't do it. You just took the blame because you wanted to put on a show. You're up to something. Just tell me what it is."
Klaus sighed in defeat, wanting nothing more than to leave without telling her the truth. But she knew the truth and there was no way he could walk away now, "If I've spilled Crescent blood, then Hayley will be forced to question the pack's loyalty to Hope, and she will not run! And you will not run with her." He explained to Ophelia, who didn't seem shocked about the revelation.
"But if they don't protect us, then--" Ophelia started, but was quickly cut off by Klaus.
"Only I can save you and my daughter!" Klaus shouted at Ophelia defensively, "And I need them to fear me!"
"What, am I supposed to fear you, too?" Ophelia asked Klaus sadly, shaking her head, "You know I could never do that. I would never be afraid of you. I've seen you at your worst and I'm not afraid."
Klaus stepped forward and gently caressed Ophelia's cheek with his hand. Ophelia sighed and closed her eyes, overwhelmed by her conflicting emotions, "You can't tell them, you know." He reminded her in a calm tone.
"Why not?" Ophelia asked as Klaus wiped the tears from her cheeks.
"Because they can't know. And I trust that you will not tell them," Klaus whispered to her softly, "I need you to give me your word."
"Klaus, no!" Ophelia argued defensively, "If I don't tell them, they'll want revenge on you. I refu--"
"Even if you tried to tell them, they wouldn't believe you, Ophelia," Klaus reminded her and Ophelia became silent, knowing that he was right, "They will think you are just trying to protect me. I need your word."
Ophelia looked hesitant at first before finally agreeing, "I give you my word," She told him softly and Klaus nodded his head, removing his hands from Ophelia's face before speeding away.
Ophelia looked around, quickly wiping her cheeks before walking back in the direction of Saint James' Infirmary, wanting to get back before Dahlia could catch her.
Ophelia entered, only to see Jackson, Elijah, and Hayley staring at her, "What?" She asked the group dumbly, causing Hayley take a step toward her.
"We're going to the bayou," She informed Ophelia in a calm tone, "Elijah gave us permission. Either you come with your pack or you lose us forever."
"I'll go," Ophelia responded without hesitation, which shocked Elijah.
"What happened out there?" Elijah asked Ophelia, seeing that she was acting weird ever since arriving back from talking to Klaus.
"Nothing," Ophelia lied to Elijah, "Klaus is the same psychotic, immortal asshole and not the person I thought he was starting to become," She paused, wiping the tears from her eyes, "So are we going or not?"

When everything turns into a zero sum game of dog eat dog, they'll find that The Hunter is an all too willing participant, but he will soon find out that he isn't the only player of this game. First story I'm posting and I don't really have a cool synopsis, sorry everyone, but this story is just another LitRPG apocalypse. I guess the only difference is that the main character isn't a hero. He's not here to save the world, he's not here to make friends, and he's definitely not here to save everyone. He's probably what the villains in other similar stories would be actually. Just writing for fun, advice or constructive critism is welcomed, writing style prone to change. Warning: Incredible amounts of poor grammar, Gore, Profanities, Traumatizing content, and cliches(I plan to have multiple main characters, maybe this is too ambitious for my poor skills, but it seems like it would be fun to try, the other MCs won't show up until later on.) The cover image isn't mine I just found it online. It's a piece by Stephanie Frey This takes inspiration from a lot of great stories on here, but I find the beginning to be most similar to Blood Lust by DefinitelyNotJormlung. Starcraft and Warhammer 40k and survival world rpg by S_Conary will also influenced this (at least that's my plan if I ever get that far or finish this) Also please stay with me until chapter 3. I suck at starting stories, but have been told I get better as I'm further along.
