I woke up alone. Klaus wasn't in in bed when I woke up so I got up and got dressed. I need to tell my dad about my baby. I don't want him to hear it from someone else. So, that's where I'm going. When I get there I seen my dad, Rebekah, his vampires and Josephine with some witches outside.
"What the hell is going on?" I ask looking around.
"Take her." Josephine says but I speed towards the witch guy that went to make a move and put my hands around his neck.
"I swear to god, Josephine, if your witches put a hand on Rebekah, I will rip you apart along with the rest of them." I say and look at her challengingly.
"That won't be necessary." Elijah cuts in as everyone looks his way and I let the guy go, shoving him away and walking to Rebekah's side. "Miss Larue...it would be a great shame to soil the goodwill of our recent agreement. Now I am sorry for your loss, but Marcel is telling the truth. Rebekah now occupies the body of Eva Sinclair, and my sister is innocent of this crime. Now you have my word I will find whoever is responsible and make certain that justice is served. And now I would encourage you all to leave." Elijah finishes walking to Josephine.
"You have til tomorrow. After that, it won't matter what i say. Witches will stop at nothing to protect their children." Josephine tells Elijah and looks to me behind him. "I'm sure you're well aware of that Miss Gerard. It's an impulse I know you can respect."
"What is she talking about?" Marcel says looking to me once we got inside the loft, somehow i know he knows Josephine wasn't talking about Davina.
"Surprise?" I say and have a hand on my stomach, watching as realization crosses his face and then shock.

"You know, when you said you needed my help i didn't think it would be this." Elijah says as I roll my eyes.
"Well, you said you would help." I say as the two of us walk through deep in the bayou.
"Do you know where you're going?" He asks cautiously.
"Sort of." I tell him. I glance over at him and stop, sighing annoyed. "What?"
"This part of the bayou is dangerous, Maddison, and you're carrying a child." He looks down at my stomach.
"Elijah, that's why I asked you to come with me. I know it's very deep in the bayou-"
"Dangerous." He interrupts as I glare.
"But I have to find this book. It's my family's, it's the key to helping people, you, Klaus, Rebekah...it can help my child be safe." I finish. "If you don't want to be here, then leave." I turn around and continue walking, seeing abandoned camps set up and a few destroyed cabins. None of them were still standing. I swallowed and walked towards them. I wonder what happened. It looks like no one has been here for years.
Elijah steps beside me as I look up at him. "Are you done pouting?" He nods. "Good. Let's find this book." I sigh and look around all the large area. I walk up to the first cabin and search the inside, avoiding possible dangers.

"This is hopeless." I say and sit down, needing a break after searching many cabins. "And I'm starving and tired. And the baby is probably hungry too." I rant. "Elijah?" I call out. "I think we've established it's not here!"
"I think I found it." He says coming up from behind me making me jump in fright.
"Are you trying to kill me?" I ask angrily. He sends me an apologetic look but my eyes look down to the old book in his hands. "How do you open the damn thing?" I ask.
"I'm not sure. Magic, perhaps?" He says uncertain as I throw my hands up.
"That's great. If so, then I won't be able to open it, because I have no magic." I raise my voice then take a deep breathe. "I'm sorry."
"It's quite alright." Elijah looks to me. "Let's go. We should get out of here and get you some food also."
"Yeah, good idea." I nod and stand up, following Elijah away from the area and to his car. I look at the opening of a field and furrow my eyebrows. It looks strangely familiar but I shrug it off and continue to walk.

"Mariana!" Her grandmother, Maria, calls as she runs around with flowers in her hand.
"Yes?" She stops running and walks up to her grandmother.
"We have to go." Maria rushes and grabs Mariana's hand.
"Where?" The little girl asks looking at her worried grandma.
"Somewhere safe. Don't worry." She tells her granddaughter.
"But what about Jack?" Mariana frowns and stops. "I don't wanna leave without him."
Maria sighs and looks at the young girl in sympathy. "You have to sweetheart. It's the only way." A tear rolls down both the girls faces and Maria hugs the little girl, pulling her tightly towards her. "Hey, look at me. I know someone who will keep you safe. He will protect you and he will love you like his own."
Just as she says that a man walks towards the two with a gentle look on his handsome face. "Right?" Maria says looking to him.
"Of course." He nods his head and bends down to the girl level.
"Hi, Mariana, I'm Marcel. It's nice to meet you." He smiles widely at the young girl as she butters up a small smile.
"Maddie?" I hear and shake my head, looking to see Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah looking at me.
"What?" I ask not even sure who said my name.
"Are you alright, love?" Rebekah asks as Klaus looks at me worriedly.
"Yeah, sorry. Just zoned out for a minute." I chuckle and look to the packed bag beside me. "Did I finish packing this?" I ask as Klaus looks more worried. I send Elijah and Rebekah a look and they both understand and walk out. "Klaus, I'm okay. People zone out all the time."
"Are you sure? Are you tired? Maybe you should just stay here and sleep." He says while leading me to the bed.
"Klaus," I say and stop him, my hands in his, "I am okay."
"What did you see?" He asks after seeing the look on my face.
"Me. And my grandmother. I was very little and I was running around, joy spread across my face but then one second and it was gone. My grandmother, Maria, she told me we had to leave. I remember I didn't want to leave my brother but I had too. She told me that she knew someone who would keep me safe, who would love me as their own." I mumble.

"Marcel." Klaus clues in as I nod.
"I never remembered how I met Marcel but for some reason that memory just came to me and I zoned out completely. I'm sorry to worry you." I apologize but he just wraps his arms around me and pulls me into him and kisses my head.
"It's alright, love. I just want to make sure you and the baby are safe at all times." He says and I smile happily at him.
"We are. We are so grateful for you also. I hope you always remember that. I love you so much, Klaus. I didn't know having a baby was possible for me after I died but it is and I'm glad it's with you." I whisper to him as my head rests against his chest.
"I love you, Maddison Gerard." He whispers in my ear. I keep myself wrapped in his arms and enjoy this. These moments are what I love and why I'm so happy we're having a baby together.

I carry my bag into the house, setting it down by the door and looking around. "Hello?" I fall out and hear footsteps running down the hall before little arms wrap around me. "Hello to you to, little man."
I wrap my own arms around him as he looks up at me. "I missed you, Maddie." Scott says smiling up at me.
"I missed you too." I smile and grab his hand and my bag walking to the living room.
Scott and I sit on the couch, with blankets and and snacks around us, watching tv.

Freya says through the phone.
Klaus asks her as I roll my eyes.
Freya explains.
Rebekah asks.
Klaus speaks us as I listen.
Rebekah tells him.
"Why am I on the phone again? Not that I mind listening, I believe this is family business." I say awkwardly.
Elijah tells me as i smile.
I laugh as Klaus says this. She would love that.
Freya says making me grow suspicious.
Klaus asks.
"Look guys, you know I want what's best for you Bekah, but I'm with Klaus on this. Im sorry, I am, but I agree full-heartedly with him. I have to go. I have some stuff to do." I tell them referring to the book but not trusting Freya yet. "And Klaus, just don't kill anybody please. I love you. Bye guys." I hear them say bye before I hang up.
I look at my book before grabbing it and setting it down on the table in the kitchen, where I was.
"What the- what is this?" I ask myself looking down at the old leather book. "And how do I open it?"
"I think your blood." Scott says from behind me making me turn quickly. "Hey, Maddie."
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I say to him softly. "I thought you were sleeping on the couch."
He shakes his head and sits on the kitchen chair looking at the book. "I'm pretty sure your blood goes here." Scott points to the weird looking lock. "I mean, you're powerful and the last of your bloodline. Well, other than the baby."
"Has anyone ever told you, you're a smart kid?" I ask sitting down next to him.
"Yeah, you." He giggles and I laugh pricking my finger and dropping it on the lock. It makes a noise before it clicks open and my eyes widen. "Whoa."
I move the lock to the side and open it in awe. So many spells and information. I skim my fingers along the pages that were clearly hundreds of years old. As I flip through the pages and read some of the things, I find the solution to my problem and how to restore my magic. I smile to myself and hold my stomach, I'm gonna get my magic back and protect the people I love, including my child.
*
"You snapped her neck?" I ask softly with a giggle. " I can't imagine your siblings were happy with that."
Klaus asks me with stress in his voice.
"No, Klaus, you're not wrong to not trust her. I don't trust her, at least not right now. She comes out to the blue, yes crazy like you Mikaelsons, but people lie. I'm not saying that Freya is lying but I'm not saying that she's being 100% honest either." I explain to him. "I remember telling you not to kill anyone, I should of said not to kill her." I joke but he doesn't laugh. "I trust your judgment, Klaus, and I will stand by your side through whatever you do or think. I have to do this but I will be home after, I promise." I hang up the phone and set it down while setting up some candles. I sit down criss-crossed and set 4 candles around me.
I take a deep breath from my spot on the floor. I close my eyes and clear my mind. I start quietly chanting to myself, repeating my words. After a few times I get sucked into a memory.
I pant heavily as a little probably 7 year old me runs through the bayou. I look behind me and keep running. I stop once I reach a small field with flowers and some tall trees. One flower in particular sticks out to me.
I slowly walk over and bend down. I stick my hand out and touch the dead, crunchy, flower and focus on it, surprising myself as it comes to life. The green stem standing straight and the vibrant yellow pedals make me stare in awe.
The moment gets ruined when I hear leaves from behind me. I see a tall man, he had dirty blonde curly hair, hazel eyes that shone with determination and anger. "Stay away from me." I say fearfully towards the man.
My heart immediately picks up as his smile is sadistic like, and wind slowly picks up around me. I watch as the leaves come up from the ground and the flowers all start dying one-by-one. I see a blur before the man who chased me was unconscious on the ground, and my father figure comes into my view.
"Mariana, it's okay. You're okay." He says slowly walking closer. "I'm not gonna hurt you." He looks around as the wind blows harder and soon I'm going to lose control and he knows it. "Hey, Mariana, look at me. It's me. It's Marcel."
I furrow my eyebrows before the wind stops and I look at him. "Marcel?" I ask as he nods. I run into his arms as he grips me tight.
"You're okay. You're safe with me." He whispers in my ear as my heart slowly calms down. I look past Marcel's shoulder and see an older lady with long grey hair. The woman looks oddly familiar to me but I can't place it. She smiles lovingly at me before she fades away into nothing.
I gasp as my eyes shoot open. It was her. My grandmother. And why the field in the bayou looked so familiar. It's where I saw her. I always thought it was my imagination but it wasn't. My thoughts suddenly stopped as the candles around me lit up. The flame blew high as i felt my eyes glow.

8 207Sleeping Through the Apocalypse
Our 'valiant hero' Mark just finished a 72-hour VRMMO marathon and passed out as soon as he reached his goal. His rest is disturbed by patch notes, but he sleeps as the world he knows ends, and a terrifying game begins. Join Mark as he discovers the wonders and horrors of the new world that awaits him. This is 'realistic' and chaotic. There is cursing and gore. I do my best to imagine how a person would actually handle the apocalypse, and the answer is "not well."
