《Nick Wilde X Reader | A New Partner》The Dark Descent

You stood at the top of a flight of stairs that descended into darkness. The smell of oil and wet concrete drifted up and filled your nose. Bottles and junk left behind by homeless animals were scattered around as graffiti on the walls surrounded you.

"Uhhh Nick, this place is really sketch..." You said quietly as he slipped past the metal door and stood next to you.

"Don't worry, your eyes will adjust soon," he replied, placing a paw on your head.

"Not really what I was concerned about," you whispered as you pulled your flashlight out and clicked it on. It beamed a circle of light at the bottom of the staircase showing that it was about a two-story descent.

You glanced at Nick, who was still just standing there, "W-well, ladies first," you gestured forward with your flashlight.

Nick lifted his head, "Ohhh I didn't realize I was dating a comedian," He slid his paw off your head and pulled out his phone which lit up his face, "I'm still waiting for a reply from our guy."

"Ohh," you turned and looked back toward the city from behind the station doors, "is he not here yet?"

"Well, guess we'll just have to find out," Nick replied, a hint of irritation in his voice.

You aimed the flashlight back around to the stairs as he started to step down them. You followed after a moment of hesitation.

You took each step carefully because there was some broken glass ahead. Cockroaches skittered away from you as you shined your light at them. Ick. You kept in pace with Nick as to not get too far from him. You kept glancing back up at the entrance, worried you'd see a silhouette of someone looking down at you both.

Judy stepped out of her little car and ran softly toward the orange van parked down the block.

"Why are they going in there?" Judy whispered to herself as she snuck closer to the closed station. She flicked her ears and could hear the pitter-patter of their paws inside.

Slinking up to the side of the station entrance, Judy took out her phone and switched to her camera. Very slowly she moved the phone around the corner and aimed it down the staircase and tapped to take a photo. She pulled the phone back and looked at the photo. Sure enough, the fox was there. And his partn--Oh no--They were looking right at the camera!--Did they see it?! Judy cringed and retreated from the entrance, just in case they came up to investigate.

You shivered, turning back to focus on where you were going.

Luckily, you didn't see anyone up there.
