《Nick Wilde X Reader | A New Partner》Judy Hopps

You scrolled idly on your phone as you leaned on Nick on your couch. He had crashed here again last night. Used your shower again. He wasn't alone this time though, heheheh.

ANYWAY, you were both laying on the couch, bored, and in a sort of a limbo. You were tentative about going outside after what happened last night, but you still had to leave later this evening for the dropoff. So there wasn't much to do.

"Hey," you nudged Nick and held out your phone for him to see a video, "check this out."

He turned, with his half-closed eyes and watched for a moment.

"Hah! Yeah, I've seen that one," he said, grinning.

"Well, OK, mister I-know-everyone-I've-seen-everything, I just won't--"

You stopped as he reached over and put his paw over your mouth, "Shhhhhhhhhut," he said.

Defiantly, you stuck your tongue out and licked his pads, hoping to get a reaction.

"Oh, so we're playing that game?" Nick turned his body to face you and ran his now damp paw along your cheek down toward your chin. Your heart rate began to increase as you felt him hold you and then pull you closer. Oh golly, you did it now.

*Knock Knock Knock*

The Door??? Right now?? Really?

Nick rolled his eyes and plopped back to a slumped position. "Can we just wait and see if they go away?" he asked quietly.

You considered the thought momentarily.

"It's probably just Alex, I can talk to him and then tell him we're hanging out. Then he'll leave."

Nick nodded.

You slid off the couch, jogged over to the door, and swung it open to greet him. But, Alex wasn't there. Your eyes trailed down a few feet to land on a little gray bunny... in... a police uniform? Haha, what? Police officers are huge? Like rhinos or tigers! Not cute little bunnies...

Is she like, cosplaying?

"H-hello," You said, unsure if you should say ma'am, or officer, or whatever else.

"Hi!" The peppy bunny replied, "I'm officer Judy Hopps and I'm following up on a missing mammal case. Would I be able to ask you a few questions?"

"Uh--" You looked over your shoulder toward Nick who was walking over.

"No thank you, officer, we don't have any answers," he said as he reached for the door to close it.

The bunny's happy expression faded quickly, "Wait! I recognize you from security footage! Please, you're the only lead I have for this leopard!" She reached behind her back and pulled out a photo of Stephanie--the waitress--the one who attacked yesterday.

Your eyes grew wide and you glanced at Nick. His frowned expression didn't change.

That's when the bunny made eye contact with you. You saw her eyes flash as she read your expression. Crap...

"So you do know about Stephanie!" Hopps' excitement returned, focusing on you.

Nick shook his head subtly at you.

"Can you give us a minute?" You asked kindly to the bunny, "we're still a little shaken up." She nodded in agreement so you closed the door.

Nick leaned against the door as you whispered to him, "maybe we can give her some information? It's not like she knows what we were doing there. Then she'll go away."

"Okay, only the leopard. No other details."

"Got it."

You opened the door back up and began to speak to the bunny. You described how she was a friendly waitress until she got off the boat at the harbor. Suddenly and randomly, she became violent and attempted to attack you both in the van.

"Do you know where she might've gone afterward?"

"Unfortunately, no, we don't. We raced out of there and back home."

Judy scribbled some notes down on a small pad of paper. She had a little carrot pen, that's adorable. "What were you there for?"

Nick spoke up this time, "we had just gotten off the cruise."

Judy turned a page back in her book, reading over some things, "and what packages were you picking up?"

Wilde's expression shifted, he looked annoyed... "What does this have to do with the leopard?"

For the first time, Judy looked nervous. You suppose Nick could be intimidating if you were smaller than him...

"It just, it could've had something to do with why she went after your van, that's all."

"Hmm well, we were very glad to be of service," Nick lifted his head and then held the door once again, "If that's all of the questions you had, I bid you adieu."

Judy paused for a second, a face of confusion as her eyes scanned between you and Nick. Then she stood up straight, "Right! Yes, thank you for your help. Have a nice day."

"You too," you said softly. Nick waved as she turned and walked down the hallway that led toward the exit.

Wilde then shut the door, swiveled around, and scooped you up into his arms.

"Oh!" You squeaked.

"Now where were we?" He asked softly.

Down the hallway...

Judy played the conversation back in her head as she pressed the elevator button to go down. That fox must be up to something. He knows more than he's letting on...
