《Between Two Worlds (Aizawa x Reader)》Chapter Fifty-Seven: Set Up (Part 1)

(Aizawa's POV)
My alarm had gone off around 6 o'clock, waking me from my much needed nap. After shutting it off, I looked around. (Y/N) was nowhere in the living room with me.
Was she still getting ready?
I got up from the couch and headed towards her room, which had the door shut, and gently knocked.
"You okay in there?" I asked.
"Y-yup!" I heard her stutter through the door, "Just getting ready! I'll be out soon!"
She sounded flustered in there, and it made me all the more curious to find out why. Was she nervous about tonight, or what Nemuri got her? Either way, I didn't think bothering her would help. Not to mention, I needed to get ready myself.
My phone then buzzed, causing me to grab it out of my pocket and check. It was a message from Nemuri.
Will be there shortly!
You guys almost ready?
Where are we going?
Kyoto Kitcho.
Let me guess, you haven't
even started getting ready.
I rolled my eyes.
See you at 7.
I shut my phone off and headed into the bathroom to get cleaned up. If we were going to one of the most expensive restaurants in Japan, I knew I couldn't go looking as I usually did, which I hated. Anything that took effort into "cleaning up" my image was already too much of a hassle. I would've argued against going, but Nemuri hurried out before I could even get a word in. I wasn't even sure why she would pick that place to begin with. Any other venue we'd go to catch up was casual. Kitcho was the polar opposite. It was such an intimate space. Why pick that spot for all four of us? Was she trying to provoke something or was she just trying to push my buttons? What was she up to? I didn't trust it at all.
By the time I had finished getting washed up and cleaned, I headed out of the bathroom and to my room. (Y/N)'s bedroom door was still shut.
'What on earth is taking her so long?' I thought.
I slowly turned to my room and headed to the closet, sorting through what little I had for formal attire.
Thankfully, I had one suit that always worked out whenever I was in a pinch. I rarely ever wore it, which almost made me wonder why I even purchased it in the first place. But given I was now in a position to use it, it didn't seem all that irrational to have it.
I set the black suit on the bed and headed over to the dresser to grab an under shirt, tie, and various undergarments.
I checked the time again once I finally got dressed and fixed my hair up.
6:50PM.
"They should be here any minute now." I said to myself.
Sure enough, I heard rather enthusiastic knocks, prompting me to leave my room and head to the front door. Once I did, I saw both Hizashi and Nemuri in very formal attire, a sight I wasn't exactly used to seeing.
"Hope you don't mind us dropping by a little early." she mused as I opened the door wider to let them in. She was in a skin tight, dark navy gown that sparkled slightly in the light as she crossed me. Her hair was in a clean bun, which allowed the pearls on her neck to be on full display.

Hizashi followed right behind her, wearing a dark red suit and tie, a bold choice that matched his personality appropriately. His hair was slicked down into a low ponytail, which I had to admit was a refreshing change to his usual perakeet look.
"So, where's your date?" he asked as I shut the door.
I sighed.
"This is not a date, and she's still getting ready." I answered, already unamused by their antics.
"Seriously?" said Nemuri, almost incredulously.
"She said she'd be out, but she still hasn't left her bedroom." I said, shrugging.
"And it didn't occur to you to go and check or help?" she asked, becoming more annoyed by my apathy. She turned around in a huff and grumbled, "Honestly, men can be so oblivious..."
As she knocked on her door, Hizashi leaned in closer to me.
"Did you get a look at what Nemuri got for her?" he asked quietly with a wide grin.
"No, I didn't." I said.
I saw (Y/N)'s door open as she let Nemuri in. I could hear Nemuri let out a squeal of excitement in her room, making me all the more interested in seeing what she was wearing and why she was too shy to come out to let us see it.
"Aren't you curious?!" he asked me, shocked by my lack of excitement.
"Not really." I lied.
I saw Hizashi's face fill with disappointment as he let out a defeated breath.
"Honestly, sometimes I wonder if you're a lost cause." he said shaking his head.
I rolled my eyes, and then heard a pair of footsteps come out of her bedroom. As I turned my head to look, my eyes widened and my jaw dropped slightly.
(Y/N) was in a purple gown that hugged her body and flowed elegantly in all the right ways. It was simple, but on her, it was stunning. The color matched perfectly with her hair, eyes and complexion. It took my breath away to see it on her. The smaller straps of the dress laid at her shoulders while the second, looser pair draped off to the sides of her arms. The modest V-neckline contoured her chest and lead my eyes straight down to her waist, which was cinched enough to show off her hourglass figure. As my eyes traveled down, I noticed there was a slight slit at the bottom of her dress, exposing her leg just enough so I could get a glimpse of it, if it swayed just right.
My eyes slowly wandered back up to her face. Her cheeks were slightly pink, as she bit her lip and looked at me with anticipation. Her hair was softly curled as it laid softly on her beautiful neck.
I was in complete and utter awe.
'Holy shit.' I thought as I continued to stare at her like an idiot.
Time stood still in her presence. I could worship her all night in that gown. My heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest as I stood there frozen.
Hizashi's nudge startled me from my daze as he whispered in my ear.
"Look alive, man." he said, chuckling slightly with a wink.
I shook my head in an effort to clear my thoughts as Nemuri entered the room with the rest of us.

"Now then, shall we get this show on the road?" she asked us with cheerfulness.
As she passed me and met with Hizashi to leave, I approached (Y/N) and offered my hand to her.
"What do you think?" she asked me nervously as her hand gently met with mine.
I bent down slightly as I brought her hand to my lips and kissed it.
"You're beautiful." I said softly as I watched a smile grow on her face, and escorted her and I out the front door.

(Reader's POV)
During the ride to the restaurant, I was alone in the backseat of the car with Aizawa, while Hizashi drove and Nemuri rode shotgun. I would've figured one of them would've sat in the back, separating Aizawa and me to make sure nothing was going on between us, but instead, they put us together. This on top of the fact that we were going somewhere fancy seemed...weird. It wasn't their usual style from what I've seen of them before. It almost made me wonder if they were trying to get us to do something.
Was that the whole point of this dinner?
Was this to provoke us?
If so, why?
Was this simply a fancy night out, or a set up?
I couldn't know for sure what their motives were, but it did have me on edge just a little bit. Something wasn't right. I couldn't explain it, but I had a gut feeling that I couldn't shake off.
None of us said much on the ride there, but once we arrived, my eyes focused on the beautiful traditional setting of the restaurant.
It was like looking into the past as I stared out the window of the car. All three of them exited the car, and Aizawa opened my door for me and offered his hand to help me out.
Two women in yukatas were standing by the entrance waiting for us, and greeted us with a bow.
"Welcome to Kyoto Kitcho." said one of the women in a mint green yukata, "I will be your Okami this evening."
We all bowed to her in response.
"This is her first time." said Nemuri to the woman as we all straightened up, "She's new."
The woman smiled and looked from me and back to Nemuri.
"I'd be honored to assist her behind the scenes. Now, if you'll all follow me." she said as her and her other assistant showed us the way into the restaurant.
As we followed them in, Aizawa and I were behind the rest of the group, giving the both of us the opportunity to hold each other's hand for a brief moment.
Even though it wasn't as much connection as I'd like, it was far and beyond better than nothing at all, and I appreciated the feeling even though it was fleeting.
I looked around as we walked through the outdoor scenery, admiring everything I saw. There were lanterns lighting the path, surrounded by beautiful eastern trees and shrubs. I could hear crickets off in the distance, adding to the ambience. It was so tranquil. So peaceful. Like stepping into a dream.
"Enjoying the view?" I heard Aizawa ask me.
"I've never seen anything like this." I said, my voice trailing off as I saw the little water gardens near the main building.
I heard him chuckle.
"I take it there's nothing like this where you're from?" he asked, amused by my reaction. I couldn't blame him. I probably looked like a kid seeing snow for the first time.
"Not really." I said, looking back at him as we continued to walk, "The classiest thing we have is maybe an Olive Garden."
"I'm not familiar." said Aizawa as we walked through the doors, the assistant letting all of us go ahead.
"Don't worry, you're not missing out on much." I whispered as we walked down a hall and into a much larger room, with a wide center table and four seats low to the ground. The view from the private room, which was a little garden lit softly by distant lanterns and the night sky, was absolutely gorgeous.
"Please have a seat." said the Okami, as she stayed by the door, while her assistant shut the doors behind us before going back into the hallway.
As we took our seats, Nemuri and Hizashi sat infront of Aizawa and me, with Hizashi facing Aizawa and Nemuri facing me. It felt a little...intimidating.
The assistant came in with a tray of what appeared to be sake and handed it off to the Okami before leaving again.
As the Okami approached us, Aizawa leaned in.
"She's likely going to offer you a drink first because you're new." he whispered, "Politely refuse at first."
"Why?" I asked.
"It's customary. It's considered to be polite." he whispered again before backing away.
Sure enough, the Okami approached me with the sake in hand.
"May I offer you a drink?" she asked me.
I smiled nervously.
"N-no, but thank you." I stuttered, not entirely sure if I was doing this right.
"Oh, I insist!" she said, smiling, "I'm most certain you will enjoy this."
I nodded and accepted the drink, as she guided me on how to hold my glass and how to correctly pour. After filling my glass, she helped me to do the same for Aizawa's glass, before doing so for Nemuri and Hizashi. Apparently, because I was the youngest here, and because I was a woman, I was the one to pour everyone's drinks. Thank God I had someone to direct me, or this would've been a disaster.
By the time I had finished, the Okami proceeded to get up and head back to the entrance of the door, where she waited patiently.
Everyone raised their glass, prompting me to raise mine.
"Kanpai!" said Nemuri and Hizashi cheerily, Aizawa more blandly. I rushed to say the word with them as we clinked our glasses together before taking a drink.
Nemuri wasted no time to get the ball rolling as we set our glasses down.
"So, Doe," she started, "What's it like staying with Aizawa?"
Here we go...

Home of Laplace
I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar mountain peak standing tall above me like seeing a skyscraper from the street. Soon the chilling burn of the snow that covered me began to invade my senses and I flung my torso upward, sitting up straight. I grabbed my head in confusion as my eyes surveyed the area around me: The corner of a mountain wall stood menacingly in front of me accompanied by thin, dangerous looking paths on either side. The likes of which only adrenaline-seeking psychopaths would use. I turned my head backwards and felt my heart drop as what looked like an infinitely long freefall met my gaze. I was sitting on the ledge of a snow-covered mountain. "CRKKKK" A heart-shaking croaking sounded from above me further up the mountain and I jolted backwards at the impossibly loud sound. 'Shit, wasn't there nothing behind me?' The sound of cracking stone accompanied the heart dropping sensation of descension. As I plunged down backwards, the last thing I saw was the deep-set brown eyes of that blue-skinned monstrosity further up the mountain. ----------------------------------------------------- Levi Laplace is a former genius biochemistry student that died a simple and laughable death on earth.
