'Seems quiet. I'm guessing I'm just here by myself. Maybe now is a good time to let them know I'm here.'
Beep.
Beep.
'God, I hope this works...HEY, HIZASHI! IF YOU CAN HEAR ME, I THINK YOU CAN USE THE QUIRK NOW!'
Beep.
"...Kinda need a better signal than that!..."
Beep.
'Well, I can hear Hizashi from here, so that's reassuring. I'll try again...NOW!!!"
Beep.
Beep.
'Nothing...maybe they didn't hear me again? I think I screamed it loud enough.'
Beep.
Beep.
Beep beep.
Beep beep.
'Huh?'
Beep beep.
Beep beep.
Beep beepbeepbeepbeep.
'What's going on?'
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
"Code Blue!"
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
'Fuck! What's happening?! What's wrong?!'
"Press the CPR button on her bed, and record time and treatments...No pulse or signs of breathing. Jason, start chest compressions while we wait for the defib team members. 30 compressions at 100-120 per minute."
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
'Fuck! Fuck! This is backfiring!'
"Frank, please provide airway adjunct and ventilate at 94% oxygen."
"Where's the defib team?!"
"They're on their wa-"
"Thank God, perfect timing. Greg, prepare her for rapid defibrillation. Get the ECG monitors and defib pads on her, stat."
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
"Alright, everyone stand clear!"
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
"She's in V-Fib."
"Jason, continue with chest compressions. Greg, start charging the biphasic defibrillator at 360 joules."
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
"Charges are ready."
"Everyone clear!"
"Shocking on 3 in 1, 2, 3..."

...Beep beepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
"Continue chest compressions! Nurse, get her on an IV."
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
'...Am I going to die?'
"Still in V-Fib!"
"Get me 1mg of epinephrine 1:10,000 IV push, flushed with 20 CC's of saline."
"1mg of epinephrine 1:10,000 IV push, flushed with 20 CC's of saline?"
"Correct."
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
"...28...29...30. Two minutes!"
"Stop compressions."
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
"Still in V-Fib."
"Prepare to charge to administer another shock."
"Charging at 360 joules."
DING DING DING
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep
"Charges ready."
"Everyone clear!"
"Shocking on 3. 1, 2, 3..."

Just then, my eyes flew wide open as I gasped frantically, my body violently lunging forward on the bed. I looked around in an utter panic, as I saw everyone in the infirmary jump or fall over in shock.

"Doe?" asked Aizawa, who noticeably sounded extremely concerned, "What happe-"
"Stop what you're doing! Stop! Stop! Stop what you're doing!" I screamed, as I trembled.
Everyone looked horrified.
"I don't under-" started Recovery Girl.
"Don't! No, don't! Don't do it again! I was dying! My heart, i-it-it was failing! I-" I could barely get out what I needed to say, I was in full fledged panic attack mode as Aizawa tried to hold me still as I fuddled my way off the bed.
"Ssshhh, sshhh, Doe. I'm here. I'm here. You're safe. It's alright. What happened?" he said, trying to be as calm as he could as I continued to shake. I could feel beads of sweat form on my head as my limbs started to go numb from hyperventilating.
"You can't do it again! Please, you ca..."
My body then completely gave out, plunging me into darkness.
***
(Aizawa's POV a few minutes earlier)
We all waited silently for Doe to give us the signal once Nemuri put her to sleep. She had been out for about five minutes, but so far nothing.
'Hopefully, she's not stuck in there.' I thought, not feeling entirely comfortable about this plan.
Just then, we heard her mumble.
We all moved in closer.
"...use...now." she slurred breathlessly.
We all looked at each other.
"KINDA NEED A BETTER SIGNAL THAN THAT!" screamed Hizashi. My ears were reeling just from that one instance of his quirk. I'm glad she had earplugs. But before any of us had to wait longer, she spoke again, this time, more clearly.
"...Now."
Nezu nodded to Recovery Girl, and she puckered her lips onto Doe's temple. As she held it there, Nezu started to keep time with his watch.
Even though it was only a minute, it felt like an hour. A part of me hoped that this would work, for her sake, while the selfish part of me wanted it to be a dud so I could stay with her longer. Either way, I just hated seeing her like this.
"Time's up!" announced Nezu, and Recovery Girl immediately parted away from her.
"Now what?" I asked, somewhat impatiently.
"Now we wait. We need her body to adjust to the quirk and see if she communicates any changes or not." he said, as he walked over to a chair before sitting, "She might not notice anything during the first round, and I don't want her distracted or to feel panicked while in this state."

"And what if she gets stuck and can't wake up?" I argued, "You didn't exactly reassure her with your answer earlier."
"She'll need to wake naturally. In all the cases you've described to me earlier, Aizawa, she woke up on her own or with little intervention. I have little reason or evidence to believe she won't wake up at all." he said. Though Nezu's face was calm, I could tell his voice was impatient with my willingness to argue, "I wasn't about to humor the idea and have her refuse to go along with today's objective. It would be like humoring someone who believes they have cancer after looking up their symptoms on the internet, and going off in the wrong direction because their fear took control of their rationality. We need to have her full cooperation."
I hummed in disapproval. I wasn't thrilled with how he was trying to handle her emotions like this. It was dismissive and cold.
"In any event," continued Nezu, "If she didn't wake up, she's in the safest place possible for such an ordeal. We can make her comfortable and come up with alternatives or solutions to handle the matter. But again, I very much doubt we'll get to that point."
I was about to open my mouth to respond when I saw Doe's entire body suddenly jolt on the bed. We all looked at her, rather confused and concerned.
"Uhhhhhhhhh...guys, what was that?" asked Hizashi.
We all waited for another moment, but she didn't move. Recovery Girl checked her pulse.
"She seems fine." she said, though her voice was filled with uncertainty.
"Then why did she jump like that?" asked Nemuri.
"I don't know, to be honest. I've never had someone react that way before. Perhaps it was a hypnogogic jerk." she answered.
"What if she's in trouble?" I asked, not taking my eyes off of her.
"There's nothing we can do presently but wait. We've already used up the one minute of Recovery Girl's quirk. Anymore of it, at this point, could result in a negative reaction in her world or ours. We need to take this slowly." said Nezu calmly.
He was right, but I didn't have a good feeling about this. Doe was able to respond to us before. Why isn't she saying anything now? Was that jolt in relation to something that happened to her in there? Or was it completely unrelated? It didn't sit well with me not to have any of those answers, and I had a feeling Nezu didn't have any either, which only made me feel worse.
We all waited again for any signs of trouble, but Doe didn't move or say anything. Something didn't feel right. I couldn't explain it. All I knew was that the silence was driving my anxiety up the wall. Though, on the outside, I remained calm, I felt like a bundle of nerves on the inside.
Suddenly, her eyes flew wide open, and her body lunging forward on the bed as she gasped for air. Almost all of us jumped to the extreme reaction. Hizashi shrieked, tripped and fell over.
"Doe?" I asked, somewhat horrified by what I saw, "What happe-"
"Stop what you're doing! Stop! Stop! Stop what you're doing!" she screamed, as she trembled violently.
Everyone looked horrified, including her.
I've never seen her this way before.
"I don't under-" started Recovery Girl.
"Don't! No, don't! Don't do it again! I was dying! My heart, i-it-it was failing! I-" she stuttered, but I couldn't understand exactly what she was trying to say. I tried to get a better hold of her as she frantically got out of the bed.
"Ssshhh, sshhh, Doe. I'm here. I'm here. You're safe. It's alright. What happened?" I said, trying to remain as calm as I could as she continued to shake. Her face was ghostly pale, and sweat started to form on her forehead as she began to hyperventilate.
"You can't do it again! Please, you ca..."
She stopped talking and began to fall forward as her eyes rolled back into her head. I caught her in time before her limp body hit the ground.
"Doe? Doe?!" I said as I tried to shake her awake, but to no avail.
Fuck! This backfired.
