Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
What the hell is that sound?
Why is everything so dark?
Why can't I see?
Fuck! My head...it feels like it's in a vice.
"TBI. Diffuse axonal."
What? What was that?
"Temperature?"
"96.8"
...Who's talking right now?
"Blood pressure?"
"190/40."
"BPM?"
"55."
"ECG?"
"Slight cardiac arrythmia."
"Get her on oxygen, now."
What the Hell?
"I need you to put her on saline. Run the fluids wide open. Keep an eye on that arrythmia, and have adrenaline on standby. Someone get this patient a catheter and check urine output."
What the fuck is happening right now?
Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
My eyes shot open. My body was in a cold sweat, as I quickly looked around my surroundings.
Only the dull light from the door allowed me to see that I was still in my room. I sat up from the low mattress on the floor and still looked around.
Nothing unusual. No sound. Nothing.
Who the hell was talking?
Was I dreaming?
Why couldn't I see?
Why did my head not hurt anymore?
It felt so real.
I shook my head in an effort to jumble my thoughts enough to mentally function.
I looked back at the door.
The light. It's on outside my room. Is he still awake? What time is it?
I got up from the mattress, and shuffled my way to the door, slowly opening it and peeking my head out.
The living room light was still on as I slowly made my way down the hallway.
"You should be sleeping."
I jumped.
"I should say the same to you." I said back, as I collected myself before walking into the living room.
Aizawa was still sitting on the couch, coffee cup next to him, with a stack of papers next to the laptop.

"You're not in a position to give me commands." he said as he looked up from his laptop to me, "Besides, you should already know I don't exactly sleep like most of you."
I smiled and looked at his cup.
Empty.
"Would you like more coffee?" I asked.
He paused, almost hesitant to answer me.
"That'd be great." he said, shifting his eyes from me to the laptop again.
I grabbed his cup and headed to the coffee maker in the kitchen. Before I grabbed the container, I looked at the nearby clock on the wall. 3AM.
Has he been up this whole time?
Damn. No wonder he needs coffee.
"I take my coffee-"
"Black. I'm aware." I said as I poured him another cup and headed back to him at the couch.
He didn't take his eyes off of me, even as I set down the cup and sat next to him. I couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.
"What?" I asked, worry starting to riddle my face.
He looked away.
"Nothing."
I looked down, realizing my actions.
"I'm sorry. I just realized I'm coming off as too familiar. I'll leave you alone."
I went to leave, but Aizawa's hand stopped me.
"There's something that's been bothering me all evening, and I'd like to ask you a few questions...if I may." he said, still not looking at me.
I hesitated and felt myself physically tense, nervous to know what this was all about.
"You may." I said, voice tense.
"Exactly how much do you know about our world?" he asked.
I sighed.
"That's quite the loaded question." I said with a chuckle.
He looked at me, almost sternly.
"Please try to answer it." he said, with seriousness. Clearly, this was no laughing matter to him.

"Well, from where things are now, your universe isn't finished. If memory serves me correctly, we're about 40% of the way through the series. There's a lot of speculation, but the artist is fond of keeping his secrets." I answered.
He didn't react.
I continued.
"I know about every one of you, the teachers, students, some of their parents, other heroes, as well as the villains, though they don't get really in depth with what they're planning. I know their backstories for the most part."
"How great of standing are we in as of late?" he asked.
I sighed.
"You know I can't answer that. If I did, it might cause a change in the timeline, and then I'm just walking blind as you."
He still didn't react, and looked away, as if my answer disappointed him in some way.
"But for what it's worth," I said, causing him to look at me, "if it were bad, I wouldn't be as calm as I am now."
If he weren't wrapped up in bandages, I swore I could see him smile, but maybe I was imagining things.
"How much about us do you know?" he asked.
"Well, we've gotten plenty of backstory about a few people. But you, in particular, actually got a spin-off dedicated to your history." I said with a weak smile, remembering the horrifically sad moments in Vigilantes.
He didn't respond for a moment.
I hoped he wouldn't ask what I thought he was going to but thankfully, he dodged it.
"I'm surprised. I didn't think people would be interested." he said, sipping his coffee through the tiny bandages around his lips.
"You're actually one of the most popular and adored characters of the series." I said softly.
He choked on his coffee.
"Not exactly what I would go for, given that I prefer to be underground." he said.
I smiled.
"People love your sarcasm, the way you care about your students, and your mannerisms. Plus, they love the way you fight. There are some who think you could kick All Might's ass." I said.
I heard him chuckle.
"Now that's something I haven't heard before." he said, setting his coffee down.
"There are a few things none of us know about you that drives the fandom nuts." I said, looking at him.
He shifted himself so he was facing me on the couch.
"Oh?" he responded.
"Like why in the world does your capture weapon float and how does it even work?" I said, waiting for him to say something, and dying to know the answer.
He chuckled again and grabbed his coffee.
"I can't give away all of my secrets."
Tease.

Author's note: Again, forgive me if the medical lingo is off or missing anything. This is what I wrote after doing a bit of light research into admitting patients with head trauma, and what vitals doctors look for. I know I'm apologizing a lot, but I'm new at this and don't want to look like an idiot right out the gate.

Warning: The protagonist begins the story quite cowed and meek but progresses into a more assertive and situationally dominant personality. This is partly due to growth, but also a result of the character overcoming initial shock and longstanding depression. If you think I could have handled a segment better, by all means, point it out and provide your reasoning and suggestion. Everyone's experience of depression is different, and Tim's is a close representation of my own, so it won't necessarily 'vibe' with everyone. Chapters are around 15k words and released approx 1/week over the weekend. Has been reduced to around 7.5k to 9k to better fit my schedule.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
