Di'anna walked in the house to see her father slumped over on the couch as usual.
"It never ends." Di'anna said picking up the two whiskey bottles and used cigarettes of the ground.
"Di'anna is that you?"
Her dad slowly sat up on the couch rubbing the side of his head. Di'anna stood over the sink pouring out the bottles of liquor it was for nothing though because he'll just take her social security check and buy more.
Ever since her mother died he's just been low and that was five years ago. Di'anna thought something would changed but that never happened.
"Yes dad." She said throwing thw empty bottles away. She looked around the small apartment and it smelled and looked like crap. She was staying at Marie's for a few days because she didn't want to be here.
"Oh hey babygirl I missed you." He said trying to stand up but he just fell right back down.
"Missed you too dad. You didn't try to clean up or take shower while I was gone?"
"I did. I went looking for some jobs too but you know they all say the same we'll call you back. Think you can cook your old man something to eat?"
Di'anna loved seeing her father he was a dark chocolate man with green eyes you could never find a man like that so her mother was lucky. May see rest in peace.
"Dad I will only if you go take a bath or a shower you stank." Di'anna said.
Her father walked in the kitchen and hugged her. "I still stank?"
Di'anna started laughing. "Yes you do go take bath and I'll clean up and start cooking."
"Alright babygirl." Her father said pecking her forehead.
Di'anna started to pick up the papers and some mail that was on the floor of the living room. She seen a letter from a UCLA.
She quickly opened the letter and it said that she got accepted but she didn't get tbe scholarship she wanted. She knew her with her dad's credit she might not be able to het financial aid.
Di'anna started to cook her father had some ground beef in the fridge that was almost about to expire so she decided to make some homemade hamburger helper and corn on the side.
"I feel so fresh." Her father said walking in the kitchen. "Oooh babygirl it smells so good." He said sitting at the kitchen table.
"Thank you it's almost ready." Di'anna said.
After the corn heated up Di'anna fixed the plates and her father and her ate.
"Those chips wasn't hitting my stomach. Thank you for this homecooked meal Di'anna I really appreciate it."
"You welcome dad. Um so I thought instead of you letting them call you back dad why won't you just keep going to the job locations and calling them so they'll see that you are persistent for the job." Di'anna said.
"Why should I do that?" Her father chuckled.
"Because dad I need money for college. Even though I'm working too the minimum wage isn't cutting it. I got a letter from UCLA saying I was accepted but I didn't get the scholarship and with your credit I might not get approved for financial aid." She said.
"I ain't got time for this Didi. You see I'm trying! Damn."
"No dad all you do is sit around here and drink yourself to death. That's why I don't stay here. I came back for Christmas but I don't think I should be here for that either. I pay the bills and you don't even know it. That's why the lights, cable, and you even still staying in this dump because of me! After mom died I just don't know what happened to you. Grandma had to beg child services to not take me away from you saying you'll get better then when she died you got worse. Daddy I'm done." She said going to the back to go pack the rest of her things.

He followed behind her crying. "So you just gonna leave me too really Di'anna?"
Di'anna ignored him packing her bags.
"I know you hear me. You know what leave I don't care anymore. I don't know where you gonna stay you just 17 you can't get an apartment."
Di'anna stopped what she was doing. "Dad I'm 18. I turned 18 two months ago in October." She said blinking her eyes letting the tears fall. She couldn't stare at her so called father anymore so she just got what she could and left. She didn't know where she would go but she'll probably just get a hotel for that night.
"August Alsina." The officer came around the corner making August stand up. He unlocked the cell grabbing August.
August was wondering who bailed him out while walking beside the officer.
"Aye ya' know who bail-
August looked up to see Alijah standing there in some pajamas with a pissed off look on face.
"Sign here Mr.Alsina and then you can get your belongings." A woman behind the desk said.
"A'ight." August said signing his name.
Alijah walked out the door to her car. August walked out the door catching up with her.
"Baybeh." August said softly grabbing her hand before she quickly snatched it away. She turned around and slapped him as hard she could. August held his face looking at her crazy.
"You choked her August seriously? That's fucking assault! She could press charges!" Alijah yelled at him before unlocking her car and getting in.
August got in on the passenger side. "Baybeh I'm sorry it just happened so fast." August said before pressing his tongue against his cheek because it was hurting like hell.
"Whatever." Alijah said putting the car in drive pulling out of the parking lot.
"Who bailed me out?" August asked.
"My dad paid half and then your godfather paid the other half." Alijah said.
"Tell him I said thank you." August said but with a frown. Now Alijah's parents were gonna have a bad impression about him.
"You can tell him yourself. I drop Jay off to get your car since your godfather had an extra key for it."
"Why ya' got an attitude man?" August said pissed off by the way Alijah was speaking to him like a child.
"I don't have one August."
"Yes ya' do ya' kno' what just don't talk no mo' cause the mo' ya' talk the mo' ya' pissing me off!" His thick accent roared throughout the quiet car.
Alijah looked at him before putting her attention on the road.
Alijah pulled into the driveway and parked her car and turned it off. She then got out the car with August following her.
Opening the door Alijah seen her father talking on the phone.
"Okay yeah I'll get back with you on that my daughter and her friend just walked in."
Her dad hung up the phone and looked at both of them.
"August I need you to tell me everything that happened because she's gonna press charges." He said looking at August.
Alijah tossed her keys on the table that was in the foyer and went upstairs to her room.
August took a deep breath. "Well see last night or dis mornin' you could say she was heavy on my heart and what she said happened was on my mind."
"Well what did she say happened?"
"She said her foot slipped off da' break and she rolled into oncomin' traffic but come on if you feel yourself rollin' into oncomin' traffic you gonna quickly stomp on the break am I wrong?"

"If you have quick reflexes but no you're not wrong." Alijah's father said.
"Okay so I went to the hospital to see ha' and I asked her some questions and she ended up telling me she didn't want the baybeh anymore so she decided to get in a car wreck and kill it which is what happened. So me knowin' I'm hotheaded I lost control and started chokin' ha'. Even though I wasn't ready for the baybeh something in my heart told me I'll be a good father." August said.
"I'm sorry about that but as long as that's the truth on what happened and she confesses to what she did then we should have no problem, but with her causing a car accident on her own she might just go to jail or be put on probation because that's some crazy mess."
"I'm 'sawry sir for causing all 'dis mess. May I go talk to your daughter?"
"Yeah I gotta go pick my wife up from the airport anyway I'll talk to you later to see what that girl gonna do." He said walking out the front door.
August went upstairs to Alijah's room.
"Baybeh'?" He said opening her door to see her laying in her bed with some pajama shorts and a tank top on.
"What August?" She said sitting up in her bed as he closed her door and walked over to where she was.
"I'm sawry'." He said sitting on the bed.
"You good." Alijah said.
"Nah I yelled at you and I shouldn't have it's just I was really falling for that baybeh and with her doing what she did for a stupid reason really hurt me and that's all I was thinking about."
"I'm sorry too for somewhat having an attitude."
"You good baybeh."
"I got something to show you." Alijah said leaning over opening her nightstand drawer.
August closed his eyes praying it wasn't a pregnancy test that was positive.
"Baby?"
He opened his eyes to see Alijah's poetry book .
"You still write baybeh?" August asked.
"Yeah when I have time." Alijah said.
August reached for her book. "Can I?" He asked.
Alijah nodded her head.
August started reading one of her short poems that she wrote.
I never thought it'll end up like this
Bad luck surrounded me, within me, above me everywhere around me.
But it's like when you came along you changed all of that
I can't see myself without you.
I can see myself waking up beside you every morning, cooking you breakfast, and just chillin with you
But I'm also scared to lose you why?
Because of what you do it scares me I don't know what you do but it scares me
I feel like if I lose you the things that I've created in my dreams won't come true I'll go crazy without you
My soul won't relax knowing that bad luck surrounds me and it might surround you too so please stop what you do and come make love to me too
I want to wake up next to you
"That one is not finished yet." Alijah said grabbing her book and locking it back up.
August looked up at her. "Was dat 'bout me doin' what I do with my godfather?"
"What does he exactly do?" Alijah asked.
Thunder roared outside indicating that it was about to storm.
"Baybeh I would luv' to tell you but I just can't." August said.
"I know it has something to do with drugs August I'm not dumb." She said.
"I got something for ya'." He said changing the subject. He pulled out the box that Lord gave him and handed it to her.
"What's this?"
"Dat's an early christmas present open it." August said.
Alijah slowly opened the box and she saw the diamond bracelet.
"Oh my god August this is beautiful." She said taking it out of the box.
August took it from her and placed it around her arm.
"Since we not really on the promise ring stage yet I got you and promise bracelet." August said.
"This is way better than a promise ring baby I love it."Alijah said kissing him everywhere and hugging him.
August grabbed Alijah pulling her on top of him.
"Your daddy ain't home." August said licking his lips.
"Nah ion feel like it." Alijah said as the rain started to pour down.
"Damn looks like I gotta stay here ion like driving in the rain."
"Well we can netflix and chill downstairs no sex just chill okay?" Alijah said.
"Okay Lijah." August said.
Alijah grabbed his hand and they both stood up and went downstairs.
"Nooo stop!" Ming yelled and Yasir playfully splashed water on her as they played in the pool.
Yasir stopped splashing the water and looked at Ming. Her natural hair was so curly when wet and she looked so damn beautiful without makeup.
"Why you keep looking at me?" Ming said before propping herself on the edge of the pool.
"Cause you sexy as fuck." Yasir said before cursing in his head.
"Thank you." Ming smiled accepting the compliment.
"You welcome." Yasir said getting out of the pool sitting beside her.
"I'm so ready to graduate and leave home even though I'm probably not going far." Ming said.
"Why not? I thought you said you wanted to go to Juilliard."
"I don't really dance no more like that. I think I want to be a model." Ming said.
"You can do it. I can see you doing it." Yasir said.
Ming looked at his smiling. "You can? Why are you physic or something?"
"No because you beautiful and your body looks good which it doesn't matter about the body now. You got the face and everything else a model needs. I think I said that right." Yasir said.
Ming laughed at how cute he was. "You are so cute."
Yasir looked at her licking his lips. "Oh really?"
"Yes." Ming said.
Yasir slowly leaned over and kissed Ming. Ming wrapped her arms around him kissing him back.
They heard somebody clear they throat and quickly pulled away from each other.
Ming thought it was her father, but when she looked up it was Keith.
"What you want?" Ming said standing up along with Yasir.
"I was looking for your father so I could get my check. The maid said you was out here so came to ask you where he was."
"He's out with my mom I'll get it for you. Yasir I'll be back you can go in the kitchen and fix you something if you're hungry."
"A'ight." Yasir said.
Ming went inside and downstairs to the den where her father and mother's office was with Keith following her.
She walked in her father's office opening his desk drawer looking through some papers until she seen an envelope with Keith's name on it.
"Here you go." She said.
"Why you out there with him?" Keith asked.
Ming chuckled. "Here go your check now take it so I can go enjoy my company."
"You fucking him?" Keith asked.
"Why do you care anyway don't you got a girlfriend? Maybe I need to get up under somebody new to get over you. What you did to me was wrong on so many levels and I'm not about to look like a fool being stuck on you." Ming said.
"A'ight I hope he know your ass is crazy." Keith said snatching the envelope out of Ming's hand.
They stared at each other with hate. Keith walked around the desk grabbing her then kissing her. He picked her up placing her on the desk then started attacking her neck with kisses.
"Keith get off me." Ming said.
"No you mine remember?" Keith said.
"No I'm not get off me." Ming whined struggling to get Keith off of her. This one time she didn't want him all over her.
Keith took her hands grabbing them putting them behind her back.
"That hurts please stop leave me alone!" Ming yelled.
"Forgive me baby I'm sorry." Keith said getting on his knees slowly pulling Ming's bottom part of her bikini down.
Keith took his tongue and went in on her pussy.
Ming started to squirm then she started to enjoy it.
"Uhh fuck. Damn shit keep going." Ming moaned.
Yasir stood at the door listening to what was going on. He nodded his head seeing where he stood and what Keith was to Ming. He sat his plate that hand a sandwhich on it and grabbed his dry clothes and left.
Keith finished eating Ming out and she totally forgot about Yasir.
"Oh shit!" Ming said pulling up her bottom piece and running upstairs to the kitchen. Seein Yasir was gone. "Fuck!"
Keith came up. "Told you little boys couldn't do what I could." He said smiling licking his lips.
Ming couldn't believe she fell for him. Her chance with Yasir was ruined. Ming started crying.
"You have a fucking girlfriend! Why won't you leave me alone?! I hate you! I hate you!" Ming screamed. She looked around.
"What?! Man fuck you Ming! You knew what was going down before we even started fucking with each other!" Keith said.
Ming picked up a knife and stabbed Keith in the side of his arm. Keith fell to the ground holding his arm as blood leaked out of it.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?

The Devil's own sins
Writer updates available for free on patreon. The following account, dear reader, is a recollection and retelling of the story of the first imp. The last devil born from the original primordial pit at the dawn of time, and the lowliest speck of that first generation. It recounts the tale of Thozronnath the pitiful and his steady rise from obscurity, perpetually stuck as a punching bag for his betters until the day hell itself spat him out. The information presented here is pieced together from eye-witness reports and second hand hearsay, sometimes from creatures with more than two hands. I can not tell you with any degree of accuracy how much of it is true as it begins long before our time and it's true ending lies far unto the future still. I can tell you one thing though, it was confusing as hell. Cover: Illustration for John Milton's Paradise Lost by Gustave Doré (1866), a thankfully public domain image. Currently on hiatus.
