《Perseus Jackson: A New Order》I save a demigod

I walked around the streets of my old home. I still remembered the streets like the back of my hand.
The first thing I did was go to my old apartment. I opened the door with the key that was hidden in the crack of the door frame. The apartment was covered with dust but seemed untouched nevertheless.
I went about vacuuming the place. It took an entire hour and I decided to go to nearby cafe and have my dinner so that I can sleep early. I needed to remind myself that I was a demigod once again.
I ordered myself a blueberry milkshake and pizza. I created some money in my pocket and paid for my meal. The staff immediately recognized me because of my peculiar order. They had been kind enough to even give me blue napkins. I sipped my milkshake and looked out of the window at the passing cars.
There was a sudden burst of flames in front of me. I looked over to see Hestia nibbling on a pizza slice."Hello Lady Hestia",I greeted. She nodded in acknowledgement.
"How did you know I was back?" I asked.
She shrugged, "I've kept an eye on your old apartment for a while. I also felt a change in the energy levels when you teleported here. As goddess of the Hearth, I feel whenever a person is happy or at home," she said as I nodded. She then frowned. "But your aura is no longer as powerful as what I remember," she said puzzled.
"I'm a mortal now," I admitted. "The Primordials feel that a new threat out there might be targeting me and I'm safer on Earth."
"Ah, that makes sense," she said. "I must be going now. Have fun," she said.
"I'd appreciate it if you didn't tell anyone about me, Lady Hestia," I said. She nodded and disappeared in a column of flames.
I continued walking and ended up wandering into Central Park. The place was creepy in the dark but I had nothing to worry about. The mortal world no longer scared me. I had seen and experienced things far worse to be afraid of anything on this planet.
I continued walking till I wandered into a place with a big silver tent. I cursed myself and turned around to leave when I heard a voice. "Turn around boy," it spat the word. These hunters were horrible at recognizing people.
"For a hunter you're pretty bad at recognizing familiar faces," I said turning around and facing the goddess of the hunt.

She paled when she saw me and lowered her bow immediately. "Sorry, didn't know it was you," she said.
"I didn't mean to wander into your camp," I said. "I realized only when I was at the centre."
She nodded. "Please leave," she said. I nodded and walked away.
That was close. I was walking back to my apartment when I heard a scream in an alleyway. I normally keep away but after being the Primordial of order, I went to investigate.
I walked in to find a little girl corned by a hellhound. I immediately pressed the black ring on my right index finger. It was my normal Stygian Iron sword which I used as a Primordial but it was in the form of a ring with a little help from Hecate.
I slashed at the hellhound with my sword and watched as it turned into dust. The little girl, who looked no older than twelve had jet black hair like mine with sky blue eyes. She shrunk further into the corner in fear. I instantly put my sword away and kneeled down before her.
"Hey, don't worry, I won't hurt you," I said. "My name's Percy. What's your's?" I asked.
"Anna," she said, shyly. "Anna Flyer. Please don't take me back home," she said, on the verge of tears.
I realized that she was probably a demigod and going through regular demigod problems. "Don't worry," I said. "I won't take you back home. You have to tell me why though."
I sniffled. "My mom left me, I don't know my dad and my step father beats me." This reminded me of Gabe. Such a pig. Such things make me agree with the ways of the hunters of Artemis sometimes.
"Don't worry," I told her. "Would you like to join a group of girls who go around the country hunting and keeping away from men?" I asked her. "I don't know," she said, shrugging.
"Come with me," I said holding out my hand for her to take. I led her out of the alleyway and kneeled down so I was face to face with her. "Have things such as that ever attacked you?" I asked her, pointing to the alleyway. She nodded. "Yes they did a while back. It was a lady with two weird snake tails. I stabbed her with my friend's screwdriver. I forgot to return it to him," she said. I nodded gravely at what she just said.

"Have you ever heard about Greek myths?" I asked, curious to know if she knew who she was.
She nodded excitedly. "Yeah, like Zeus, Hades, the Minotaur and the Furies," she said nodding.
"Shhh," I shushed her. "Names have power. Don't go around saying them like that," I told her. The last I wanted was to see one of those bugs.
"Look Anna," I said. "Those myths are real. Your real father is a god. They live in the western civilization and go around having children with mortals like hormonal teenagers. That thing back there was a hellhound and what attacked you earlier, I'm guessing was a Dracaena. They're attracted to you because of your demigod scent. I'm a demigod too," I said to her. She looked at me in shock.
"I know it's hard to comprehend but I'm about to take you to see the goddess Artemis. She will ask you to join The Hunt." She looked puzzled, "what's The Hunt?" She asked.
I sighed. "They're a group of man hatting girls who go around hunting animals in forests together with their goddess Artemis. They're also immortal," I added. Her eyes glazed over at that.
"Look," I said, snapping her out of her daze. "Trust me, being immortal is not a blessing. It's a curse. It may make you live forever without aging but you will need to watch thousands of your loved ones die. You will be prevented from having a relationship with anyone and you can also die by mortal wounds. Make sure you choose wisely," I said. She nodded.
I then led her back to Central Park. I backtracked and entered the hunters' camp. "Lady Artemis," I called out. She appeared out of her tent. "What do you want male?" she asked.
Anna's grip on my hand tightened. "Don't talk to my friend like that," she said to Artemis. The goddess seemed to notice the girl and her expression softened. "Where did you find her?" Artemis asked me fiercely.
"I heard a scream in an alleyway. I went to investigate and found her cornered there by a hellhound. She told me that her mother abandoned her and her step father beats her. I didn't know what to do so I decided that you would be able to help her the best and if she doesn't join your hunt, you could escort her to camp half-blood," I said. Artemis nodded grudgingly and held her hand out to Anna, who took it uncertainly.
"I'll wait over there," I said, pointing to a fallen log, a few meters away. Artemis and Anna spoke for a few minutes. Once they were done, the two of them approached me.
"She has decided that she doesn't wish to join The Hunt," Artemis said. "Instead, she seems keen on staying with you," she said in an even more surprised tone.
I raised an eyebrow. "Are sure Anna?" I asked. She nodded firmly. I guess she saw me as the brother she never had. "What do you suggest as the protector of children?" I asked Artemis.
She shrugged. "I'm hoping I can trust that you can take care of her for the time being and then send her to camp," Artemis said.
I bowed. "I will not fail, Lady Artemis."
She narrowed her eyes at me. "Why are you being so respectful, when only a month back, you turned me into a mortal to teach me to be less biased?" Artemis asked.
"Firstly," I said, "you've earned my respect after treating both genders equally and thinking before jumping to conclusions and having a prejudice against young boys who have done nothing," I said, all in one breath. "Secondly, I'm a mortal now and I wish to respect those gods that deserve it like you and Lady Hestia," I said.
Artemis nodded cautiously. "How are you a mortal now?" She asked.
"The Primordials feel that a new threat they're facing, might be after me and that I would be safer on Earth," I said.
She nodded in understanding. I then saw Anna yawn widely and decided that it was time to take her home.
"Please don't tell anyone about me being here," I said to Artemis. She nodded and headed back into her tent. I then lead Anna back to my apartment.
"Cool place," Anna commented.
"Thanks," I replied. "You can sleep there," I said, gesturing to my mom's room. She nodded happily at me and went into her room. "Good night," I called after her. I headed into my room after her reply. I had a sneaking suspicion about who her father was and this made me hate him even more.
