《Dark Roses #Wattys2019》Chapter 33

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock going off. I turned to the side rubbing my eyes, and reached out a hand trying to turn it off.
I thought today was Saturday?
Once turning off my alarm clock was accomplished, I squinted and looked at the time.
"What the heck." I whispered to myself.
I sat up slowly, and reached for my phone placed next to my clock. When I grabbed ahold of it, I viewed the front screen to see what day it is.
I must have accidentally turned on my alarm clock, but why to 3:07am?
I unlocked my phone viewing my text messages. A few were from the group chat with Nina, Tia, Jackson, and Hanna. We created a new one, not wanting to send messages to Danny's phone. The rest of the text messages were from my friends back in Illinois.
I continued to scroll down my messages to see who else could have possibly messaged me.
One message completely caught me by surprise, and put me in great shock.
It was from Danny.
I clicked on it.
I stared at my phone screen for a little bit.
"Oh my gosh." I spoke. The tiredness I had in me completely wore off in a split second. I immediately called him, however, it went to direct voicemail.
I continued to just hold my phone in my hand, finally, words came to my mind that I could text him. This isn't real, no way it could be.
I waited for a response.
And where is that place? What the heck.
I continued to type.
My frustration began to rise.
They?
Who's "they"?
There was no response after that. I pressed the call icon next to his contact, and tried to see if he could answer.
Again, no answer.
I went back to my keypad, and began to dial 911. In the process, I'll start walking to my parents room to inform them on what's going on.
I held my phone to my ear, and removed my covers off of my so I could get up from my bed.
However, I couldn't move.
"911 what's you're emergency?" The operator spoke. I tried twisting myself, trying to pull myself up, but nothing worked.
I was in full panic mode.
"Hello?"
"Mom, D-" I began to shout while looking towards my doorway.
But I suddenly stopped, as I saw a woman figure standing in my doorway.
Who didnt appear to be my mom.
I froze.
Scream Rose! Scream!
My mind told me.
But I lost my ability to talk as well.
The figure slowly, and creepily, began to make its way towards me.
I couldn't move.
As the being made its way to the edge of my bed, the moonlight shined on it, exposing it to be someone, I absolutely wouldn't have expected.

Bella.
She had long brown dark hair, was wearing a white satin night gown, and her bright blue eyes glistened as the moon shined on them.
She looked at me with worry in her eyes, and looked down upon me as if I was an innocent lamb.
I wanted to say her name, I wanted to ask her how she was here, I wanted to run out of my room and get to safety, but I couldn't do anything.
I sat there breathless, and paralyzed.
Suddenly, her lips began to part, and it seemed as if the world went silent.
"Run." She said.
She then launched towards me, turning into an aged man with multiple bags under his eyes, and scars all over his face. He had pointy almost bald hair, and an evil smile formed across his face.
I let out a scream.
I then shot up from my bed drenched in cold sweat. My heart was beating tremendously, and I was trying to catch my breath.
It was morning, and I looked at my clock to see what time it is.
Good, it was all just a dream.
I let out a deep breath, and held my hands to my face trying to figure out why I just dreamed of that complete nightmare. It all felt so real.
Once I was calm, I grabbed my phone trying to see if the messages were true. However, I only had a few messages from Jackson and Hanna, and a ton of missed calls from Tia.
I called her back.
The phone was automatically answered with a very frantic Tia on the other line.
"ROSE WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!" She shouted. I got up from my bed walking towards the window.
"I just wokeup, what's wrong?"
"Nina's in the fucking hospital! I don't know what happened but I know that she got hit by a car late last night. It was on the news and I hurried up and rushed myself to the hospital still trying to eat my breakfast and they won't let anyone in to see her yet because they got done with her surgery around 2am and she's been sleep ever since! Jesus please not today don't do this to me you're taking away all my friends! Rose what are we going to do I don't know what to do Hanna and Jackson are here but you aren't and I'm still hungry and we're still missing Danny and-" I could tell she was crying while talking.
"-Tia, Tia, C-Calm down? Okay?" I spoke trying to interrupt her talking but she wouldn't stop. I started to quickly put on clothes despite me not taking a shower, nor doing anything else.
"-Rose you just need to come now I don't know what's going on I don't know what condition this girl is in I don't know who to blame-"

"-okay okay I'm on my way now." I spoke grabbing my car keys.
God, please let everything be okay.
Please.
I ran inside of the hospital once I got there. I popped a few pieces of gum in my mouth, and tried to put deodorant and perfume on to try to cover up any smell of mine I might have.
When I finally got information on what room she was in, I rushed over there. The nurses must have let everyone in to see Nina, because Tia, Jackson, nor Hanna were in there. There were only her parents, a few family members of her I'm guessing, and a lot of police officers.
Because her parents were busy talking and probably so overwhelmed, I walked to Nina's room, and went inside of it carefully.
My heart dropped when I saw her.
She had a black eye, busted lips, scratches all over her face, a neck brace on, a head wrap on, a cast on her right arm and leg.
My body went numb.
I looked at Tia, Hanna, and Jackson all sitting on the sofa that was to the left of the bed. Her parents weren't currently in the room, they probably wanted to give us all a little privacy with Nina.
They were all crying.
"I have to step out for a moment." Hanna spoke getting up. When she walked past me, she slowed down and looked at me.
She closed her eyes and bit her lip, continuing to walk out of the room without trying to let out a sob.
I looked at Nina again.
"Hi Rose." She spoke softly. I walked over to where Hanna was sitting, and took a seat.
"Hi." I said as tears began to escape from my eyes. I looked down at my lap. It was hard to see Nina like this.
I wanted to ask her what happened, but I couldn't manage to let the words escape my mouth.
Nina could have died last night, but miraculously survived.
Someone hit her with a car.
"It was Blaire...Rose." I heard Nina say, I automatically looked up at her.
She nodded her head up and down, and continued to speak while closing her eyes.
"I was walking to my car. I went to the movies yesterday with a friend of mine from ap spanish, and I parked in another lot because the first one was full. It wasn't too far of a walk, because if you cut across this one alley it only takes 5 minutes or less. I had my pepper spray with me, and we stayed on the phone with each other until I got to my car safely....I got the the alley...and as I was walking I saw a shadow...."
Nina began to tense up.
"....I...kept walking....I was getting nervous.....a minute passed by and I still wasn't out of the alley yet....and the last thing I heard my friend say was 'Nina, what's wrong?"
Tears began to fall from her eyes.
"A car came from the other end, and came full speed at me...I just...remember a flash of light, I think I went in the air, and then I ended up on the floor...it happened so quick....."
Her breathing got heavier, and her heart rate began to pick up on the machine.
"I was on the floor, and couldn't move, it hurt so bad...it hurt so bad...blood was coming out from everywhere....my nose...my sides...it felt like I was drowning in it...I was choking...I couldn't move, but I knew I landed on something....because I felt it go through me...and the only thing I could do was lookup at the moon...and pray inside of my head for God to forgive me for everything I've done."
I wiped a tear away from my cheek, Tia was crying as well, and Jackson was staring at the ground trying to hold himself together.
Nina let out a weep, and continued to speak.
"I've never been so scared in my life....I heard footsteps walking towards me, I wanted it to be help, but I knew it was the person that hit me because their car was still there in front of me....and they weren't panicking...Blaire then hovered over me....and twisted whatever sharp object that was stuck in my body....it felt like my insides were being cut slowly.....he then laughed and smiled at me...he started yelling at me, screaming, cursing at me, calling me every name out of the book....he was talking so harshly, I constantly felt spit from his mouth fly onto my face......."
I felt my stomach churn. Nina broke down crying.
"He's still out there Rose...he said that we stole you from him...and that he's going to have you to himself again, and he'll do whatever it takes......the police can't find him, they're searching for him and there's a warrant out for him..."
I got up from my seat, and began to walk towards the door.
"Rose." I heard Tia call. I ignored it, I need to step outside and try to calm down.
It's all my fault, all of this is.
I should've listened to them, I shouldn't have gave Blaire the benefit of the doubt.
I shouldn't have been so stupid and trusted him!
I should've told the police about what Blaire said about Danny.
I shouldn't have brought Blaire to that party.
It's clear that anyone can be Blaire's next target.
He'll do whatever it takes
And it's all because of me.

Exponential Mana Regeneration
When the Change occurred, humanity suddenly found itself with superhuman constitutions and the ability to use mana. All the government leaders had known about it beforehand and had made an announcement, so there was little strife and instead excitement to loot the dungeons that the Change had created. Kyle Anders was incredibly excited when he saw his starting skill, called Exponential Mana Regeneration, but his excitement quickly waned when he realized it was almost useless with his starting mana pool of twenty. He had nearly given up hope on being a mage when his family got him a new skill for his 18th birthday. Suddenly, with his mana pool expanded because of the skill, Kyle’s mana regeneration shot through the roof. But while humanity worked hard to loot dungeons and increase their skills and stats, Change was coming, and peace cannot last forever. The story is currently on haitus. (This story is a work in progress. As the first story that I have ever written, the beginning, especially the first ten chapters or so, needs heavy editing. I have decided to continue writing the story instead of going back and editing the beginning. I hope that despite all its flaws you will still find my story enjoyable.)

Frameshift
Magic. Math. Not a whole lot of context. Two months ago, I was a wormhole navigator, ripping open a hole in the universe to save a ship of people who only vaguely tolerated me. Two weeks ago, long story short, I threaded an impossible path through the void between dimensions to crash-land into a dungeon. You know the kind: monsters to defeat, corridors full of traps to avoid, and magical powers to earn. I'm not ashamed to admit that it's been two weeks of loneliness, fear, adrenaline, and constant injury. But I'll make it out of here by myself if I have to, or my name isn't Adam Leviathan James. ... too bad the Levi doesn't stand for Leviathan, huh. AN: Expectations should include in medias res, violence, smut, friendship, and powers/progression systems with absolutely an insufficiency of context and (at least at first) no definitions or explanations, and magic-as-programming/engineering (with something of an emphasis on "what if magical runework were an analogue to circuit diagrams"). Distant Leaps to Circinus
A dark fantasy story that takes place on a reborn Earth. "With all the planets in the universe, it just had to be this one." Not many thoughts came to mind when scientists said they could provide the Earth with nearly infinite power. Humans could only think about the future, after all: they could travel to the farthest reaches of space, never worry about their electric bills again, and give rise to new and innovative technologies. With such good outcomes on the horizon, there was no way humanity would sit idle; instead, they studied perhaps the most powerful entity in the entire Milky Way. It seemed that, after its appearance decades ago, the strange and unmoving black sphere was something of a godsend. There will always be a reason for these things. With one touch, our very reality was but a grain of sand in an hourglass. In an instant, the Earth was gone - replaced by something… different. More than a century later, Earth’s remains have reformed into a completely different beast - a planet both alive and dead at the same time. Physics that were once understood no longer made sense, giant land masses floated in the sky, and billions of people fought for their very survival. Work, sleep, and play were no more; it was time for the world, Circinus, to reign. The birth of Circinus could only be the beginning. The powerful yet ever-elusive black sphere seemed to watch the world from afar - casting light for those below, but never truly emitting light from itself. What does it all mean for the children of Circinus - children born with eyes that seemed to stare into God’s heart?
