《Dark Roses #Wattys2019》Chapter 25

Over the past couple of days, I have completely ignored Blaire. I know I should confront him, but I don't know what to think right now, nor what to do with all of this new information.
Im scared.
He has constantly been ringing my doorbell, dropping off fresh roses at my door, wondering what Eli said to me at lunch a couple of days ago, or who "scared me away".
You did Blaire, you did.
The thought of him just made me sick. Those messages to Allison, the thought of him killing Andrew and her, the memory of him.....pretending to dance with me.
I pushed away the plate of food my mom laid out for me for breakfast. Today was Saturday, and I was currently sitting in the kitchen confused about everything. If I take this to the police they'll laugh at me. They would probably tell me that the plane tickets do not mean anything, and that he could have went to Illinois for anything. Me mentioning the acronyms wouldn't be any better, I would have to then drag Eli and Andrew's mom into everything. Andrew's mom didn't even see the person's face that was at her doorway, only knew what the person said to Andrew.
My thoughts were interrupted when my dad walked into the kitchen, holding a batch of roses.
"Fresh new delivery for Rose Adams." He joked dropping them right in front of me. I got up, grabbed the roses, and then threw them harshly in the garbage across from me. Blaire has probably sent over 100 roses to me, just over the past couple of days.
My dad chuckled, "what the hell did this kid do to you?"
I sat back in my seat, ran both of my hands through my brunette hair, and let out a sigh.
"Who knows, but this kid needs to stop before I call the police. Rose, you need to start eating or at least go hangout with some friends, you're worrying me." My mom spoke walking by me and pushing my plate of food back in front of my face. I have no appetite for absolutely anything at this moment.

I feel like I still need so much more evidence in order to take this situation to the police. Maybe there's some more around his house, but I'm definitely not going back to look for it.
I felt my phone buzz, and quickly looked at it.
I let out a laugh, and began to type.
I chuckled, and shook my head. I looked up at my parents seeing them having a conversation about politics.
"Mom and dad." I spoke interrupting them. They both looked at me waiting for me to continue to talk.
"I'm having my friends sleepover tonight, if that's alright with you guys. We'll buy pizza, watch movies, and yeah."
My mom smiled at me.
"Okay, sounds good to me."
Everyone came around 7 o'clock. We made sure to order our extra large pizza early this time, lay out the snacks in the living room, and put on the movie Interstellar.
Right now we were currently at the part where they arrived at the one planet full of gigantic waves.
"The day I go to space is the day I go insane." Jackson spoke stuffing his 7th slice of cold pizza in his mouth.
"Too late for that." Hanna spoke. We all laughed.
It really is too late for that.
"Jackson you're the most insane dude I know." Danny said taking a dorito out of Nina's hand and eating it.
Jackson basically choked on his food, but soon gained the ability to speak.
"No way, what about Blaire?"
Yeah, what about Blaire.....
We all went silent. The only thing that made noise in the room was the t.v., but that then got put on pause by whoever had the remote.
Over the past couple of hours, I completely forgot all about Blaire and everything that happened, and I wish it had stayed that way.
The uneasy and disturbing feeling I have had most of this week, began to reappear.
"What even happened?" Hanna questioned curiously. It was almost as if she was asking how someone died. One of those tones where you have to be really careful to the person you're talking to because they could be sensitive.

People did die.
And I just found out why.
Everyone turned and looked at me. For a second I wanted to ask everyone why they were doing so, but then I remembered, I'm the one that discovered everything.
I gulped.
"I....well, while you were gone Eli said he was getting threats from Blaire, and how Blaire came to his door and said 'really observe someone's evilness' which is an acronym for Rose........when I went to my ex Andrew's funeral, his mom told me someone came to their door and said the same thing to Andrew also. No way could that just happen out of coincidence. So I snuck into Blaire's house to try to search for some pieces of evidence that proved that Blaire could have...been there and possibly killed Andrew, because I know him and he definitely would have never tried to commit suicide. Danny and Nina kept on the lookout for me...and I found plane tickets to Illinois...same week of Andrew's death....I also came across letters to Allison, very threatening ones and some very creepy ones, even chopped up pieces of her hair. It was crazy....I guess our earpiece microphones got disconnected or something, and then as I was about to leave his house he came home..I hid in his closet and watched him sing...and pretend to dance with an imaginary me...."
Chills began to race all over my body remembering the moment.
"He's been dropping off flowers to my door all day and night, constantly trying to see me to ask what's wrong..."
Everyone continued to be silent.
"....what are we going to do..?" Danny questioned.
I shrugged my shoulders.
I guess the only thing I can do is confront him, but I'm just not ready for that.
Out of nowhere, the T.V. shut off. Tia had the remote, and was trying to turn it back on.
"What the hell?" She spoke getting frustrated with how it wasn't working.
"Here, let me try." I said.
Tia then handed me the remote. The room currently had an eery vibe to it.
I tried turning on the T.V., but it just wasn't working, did the fuse blow out?
As I began to stand up to see if there was a deeper problem behind this, suddenly the doorbell rang.
We all froze, and looked at each other.
I looked at the clock, it was 1:26am.
No one should be ringing the doorbell this late.
"We can either all hide in the corner....or all go to the door with weapons." Nina spoke starting to stand up.
Everyone soon hesitantly then began to stand up as well.
We all grabbed random objects nearby, and began to make our way to the door.
My heart began to race.
The only person that would be ringing the doorbell this late, that has been constantly ringing the doorbell over the past couple of days, would be Blaire.
And there's absolutely no promises that everyone will not launch themselves at him, not even I.
As we reached the front door, I looked at everyone indicating to them that I was about to open the door.
They all nodded their heads.
I swear this only happens when they're all over.
I nervously reached for the door, unlocked it, and began to slowly open it. I could feel all of the nervousness in the air begin to rise, but then slowly go down.
Before me laid a beautiful banquet of black roses, with a note attached to them.
My heart began to race as I reached towards the note.
Once I grabbed it, I stood up and opened it, completely speechless.
"You'll regret this."

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
