《Dark Roses #Wattys2019》Chapter 12

It's now the end of October, and the days are moving by pretty quickly. School is going okay, my old friends from Illinois and I just planned a summer trip together, and all of our parents gave us the okay to do it. So that's something to look forward to. It would be considered a graduation present, and I'm definitely okay with that. I have to apply to Northwestern in January, and I hope I make it into their medical field. They're highly competitive, but as long as I believe in and push myself, I'll get in. I'm sure of it.
Nina had the craziest idea of going to fright fest at Six flags, so here we are. Six teenagers freezing cold waiting in long lines to go on rollercoasters. Oh, and the best part, lunatics dressed up in zombie outfits and make up keep scaring us.
"Come on guys this is hilarious, there are way more scarier things in life." Danny spoke cracking up laughing after we just screamed from getting scared by some clown person. I hate clowns.
"It's not funny I almost threw hands at that clown." Nina spoke trying to calm herself down. Danny laughed even harder. Everyone in the line was basically staring at us, probably wondering what drugs we were on.
"All I know is, we need heaters up in this place before I turn into a chocolate popsicle." Tia spoke burying herself deeper in her coat.
"Amen to that." I said trying to warm up my hands, I could barely feel them.
After another 15 or so minutes passed, the line was finally moving up and we were almost to the point where we could line up in columns to get on the ride. The ride was a two seater, so it was Tia and I in the line, Hanna and Jackson next, and then Danny and Nina.
When it's finally time for us to get into our seats, we all looked at each other.
"If I die, tell my mom I stole $20 out of her purse to buy weed one time." Jackson said sitting down beginning to buckle himself in.
We all laughed.
"If I die I'm suing EVEERRYYOONNEE." Tia added in. However, wouldn't that be impossible if she's dead?

"At least if all of us die, Danny and Nina will die next to eachother." I spoke trying to turn around to see Danny and Nina's reactions. They were both blushing, and smiling. I turned back around with a smile on my face. Maybe later on today I'll talk to Danny about asking her out.
Once the workers checked our seat belts and levers, we were good to go. When the ride finally started the butterflies suddenly woke up in my stomach, and Jackson already began to scream.
We were all cracking up laughing, he must not be a fan of rollercoasters.
"Jackson shut the fuck up!" I heard Hanna shout. We were now going up, and we would be reaching one of the drops soon.
"I'm sorry!" I heard him shout back. I would be laughing really hard right now, but I'm scared too.
The rollercoaster then began going down the drop, and it was absolutely hilarious. I think I almost flew out of my seat a few times because of how raggedy it was, and I kept flying into Tia. Out of everyone in the carts screaming, Jackson had to be the loudest. He sounded like a little girl that just got her toys taken away. I bet none of us will get over that.
The ride finally ended, and we got off. I quickly looked at Jackson, dying of laughter, only to see him holding his mouth with a slightly greenish face.
"I think I'm going to be sick." He spoke running away probably to find the nearest garbage can or bathroom. We all calmed down, and began to walk to see where he went.
"I didn't know Jackson has motion sickness," Nina said walking right next to me and Hanna.
"Remind me to never go on a rollercoaster with him again, that boy is too loud." Tia said. We all began to slow down as we saw Jackson hurling over a garbage can. People passing by were giving him strange looks, no one even stopped to see if he was okay.
"Remind me to never go to an amusement park with him again." Hanna spoke disgusted. I have to admit, the one thing I really can't stand in this whole entire world is watching people throw up.

Danny began to walk away from us going towards Jackson," I'm going to go check on him."
We all nodded our heads and then sat by the nearest bench. When we all took a seat, I looked back over at Danny and Jackson. Jackson looked like he finished puking up the nachos he scarfed down earlier, and Danny was awkwardly patting him on the back. When he was completely finished, they walked back over to us.
"Are you okay Jack?" Nina questioned him. Either that was a new nickname, or they already called him that sometimes, just not so far around me.
"Yeah I'm fine..I..just..need to.."
We saw Jackson begin to stumble but then Danny caught him. It almost caused me to have a panic attack.
"How about I walk you back to the car so you can lay down? We can pick up a sprite on the walk there, and I think I have an extra jacket I brought with in the car that I can put on." Nina spoke.
We all looked at her and spoke in sync.
"You sure?"
She began to stand up.
"Yeah, come on Jackson, and guys stay in this spot. That way I don't have to go on a wild goose chase looking for everyone."
We all nodded our heads. With that, her and Jackson walked away with him having his arm around her for support. Poor kid.
A couple of minutes passed by with us just observing people around us, listening to the loud but faint screams of people on the rollercoasters and other rides. It was beginning to get dark outside, which means the rides would soon start going faster .
"You know, I could go for a good funnel cake right now. You guys stay here, I'll be right back." Tia suddenly said standing up. Hanna stood up as well.
"Same I'll come with. I've been craving one the moment I stepped inside of this place. You guys want something back?" Hanna questioned. Danny shook his head no while I said no thank you. I wanted one, but I think I had enough junk food for today.
With Tia and Hanna leaving, this would now give me the chance to talk to Danny about Nina. I took a deep breath with nervousness coming over me for some reason.
"So Danny..you and Nina.." I said giving him a slight smile. What if he didn't like her, and she didn't like him? Or what if one of them liked eachother, and the other one didn't? Would this conversation just make things awkward?
"What about her?" He responded smiling back. Just him smiling at the thought of her or someone talking about her must mean he likes her, right?
"I mean..what isn't there about her. She's beautiful, smart, sweet, kind, and a lot of other things. The way you guys interact with eachother, I see a connection."
He rolled his eyes with a huge grin across his face.
"Come on, you know you like her." I said nudging him on his shoulder.
"Okay I could say the same thing about Blaire, well not the positive stuff but the connection between you and him part."
I laughed out loud.
"I could never date Blaire, we're just....friends, and he's a bit awkward but actually really nice soooo."
"-sooooooo everyone who claims they're 'just friends' actually end up being together. I don't know, I just don't think Nina sees me in that type of way. She's so..up there and I'm so..down here." Danny spoke in a now more serious tone looking off into the distance. I turned completely to look into his sharp green eyes.
"Danny, you're a great guy. You have a lot of friends, you're charming, nice, and just like how Nina would be missing out on her chance of being with a great guy, you would be missing out on your chance with being with a great girl. I only see Nina being sarcastic with you, and she seems more happy when you're around. Give it a try."
Before Danny could respond, we saw Tia and Hanna walking towards us with a lot of funnel cake plates in their hand.
When they finally arrived to us, they placed the funnel cakes on our laps.
"We knew you guys wanted one. Eat. Those aren't cheap."

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
