《Dark Roses #Wattys2019》Chapter 3

School has actually been going pretty well so far. In mostly every class I've felt welcomed, and had to introduce myself to everyone. Although in some classes the kids would go back to minding their own business, some kids actually made the effort to talk to me.
I met this one girl named Nina who's in my AP calc. class. She's honestly so beautiful, and was probably the most welcoming person to me out of this whole entire day. She asked for my name again so she could try to remember it faster, and talked to me as if she knew me for years. When class was over and Danny was there to pick me up at the door, turns out Nina knows him very well. I mean, I wouldn't expect her not to, I assume Danny is a great guy so that must mean he hangs around great people as well right?
"Danny, we have a new student named-"
"-Rose, I know, she's my new neighbor, I'm actually escorting her to all of her classes today. Im glad you got the chance to meet Nina, Rose. She's my favorite out of the group," Danny winked interrupting Nina as we walked up to him.
"What did I say about cutting me off Daniel?" Nina laughed while putting a hand on her hip. He held his hands up.
"Just wanted to tell the smartest person in the world that I already knew the lovely Miss Rose," Danny exclaimed sarcastically. I laughed, these two so have a thing for each other, and they would make a great couple too. With Nina's cocoa brown skin and dark beautiful brown eyes, and Danny's tan skin and sharp green eyes, they would be the perfect match for one another.
"Well while you guys are going back and forth talking and everything, I'm hungry so can we escort this to the lunch table?" I said in a joking way while walking away having no idea where I was going. I must have surprisingly been walking the right way because they both caught up to me.
"You have lunch with us too? That's nice, I could definitely use someone like you at our crusty lunch table," Nina laughed while passing by people in the hallways saying "hi" to someone basically every two seconds. When talking to her it seems like she would be the more reserved type, maybe she still is and she's just trying to be nice.
Danny rolled his eyes, "It's not that bad I swear, these are all good people Rose, I wouldnt have introduced you to them if they werent."
When we arrived to the cafeteria which seemed like it took hours, it was absolutely gorgeous: there was a glass ceiling revealing the sun outside and clouds, the actual place where you can get your lunch looked decent inside and seemed like they had decent food to serve, there were several tables that could fit 12 people, and you could even go outside in the little court yard to eat.

"This is definitely better than my old school," I spoke amazed with a smile on my face. Danny and Nina looked at me.
"Eh it's decent, but hey our table is over there, let's introduce you to them" Danny spoke placing a hand behind my back guiding me to where the table is. The table was sort of in the back of the lunchroom, but had a great view of the courtyard. When we finally got there, there were 3 people sitting down already.
They all looked at me when I arrived. One girl had short brown hair with glasses and a superman shirt on, another with long shoulder length blonde hair and a sweater on, and a cute guy with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes.
"Guys, this is Rose, she's new around here. Rose, this is Tia, Hanna, and Jackson" Nina spoke pointing them out and naming them in the exact order I saw them. They all smiled and waved saying hey.
"Hey, beautiful school you guys got here," I smiled back.
"I would consider liking it if they played good music during these damn passing periods. Not EVERYONE listens to country," Tia spoke making everyone laugh.
They all seemed like good people.
"You have to realize what type of town we live in Tia, Blakeson Canyons sounds pretty country to me," Jackson spoke. Nina, Danny, and I then sat down at the lunch table.
"Who cares, first of all I don't see any canyons ANYWHERE....just mountains. Second of all, it's not country until I see tumbleweeds and dust storms going throughout this town," Tia responded. We all let out little chuckles again.
"Where did you move from, Rose?" Hanna asked me curiously. I took a deep breath remembering my beautiful city that was left behind along with my friends.
"Just from the Chicago suburbs, I miss it there," I said looking down at the table, and then at my phone to see if I've gotten any text messages. Just a few from my friends, and one shockingly from Andrew. I deleted his contact out of my phone a long time ago, but his phone number definitely didn't delete out of my brain.
I could recognize it from a mile away.
I heard everyone at the table continue to talk to each other saying how they wished to visit the downtown area of Chicago, or that they've been there and it was beautiful as I looked at the text message from Andrew.
Once the message was read, I quickly deleted it as I felt my heart began to race with anger. If I ever saw him again, I would have four words for him. Simply "I don't forgive you".
I should've just blocked him, in fact, I will. The only thing that kept me from doing so earlier was incase anything went down with his family, or my friends.

"Rose are you okay?" Nina questioned bringing me back into reality.
Everyone at the table was staring at me.
"Um yeah, it was just my mom checking on me......Um so guys, tell me more about this school," I said putting my phone in my pocket. They all stared at me weirdly, but then went back to normal.
"Well we have a great curriculum, we're like on the what, top 10 schools of the state? I think that's it, but yeah. The people are pretty great too. Everyone's pretty close to one another because we all grew up together. I mean there's drama here and there but I mean that's highschool." Jackson spoke taking a sip out of his coke he got from the food court area. Maybe I should buy something to eat also, I'm kind of hungry.
"Are there any cliques?" I questioned looking around the lunchroom. It seemed like there were pretty different groups.
"Well yeah, of course, um well not like mean cliques and everything just like different groups, um we have the 'emo' people over there, the girly girls right there, the druggies right there..." Danny went on and on pointing at different tables that were filled with different people, but one person in particular caught my eyes.
He was alone at a table with dark black hair, and dressed in dark clothing.
I wonder why he was all alone.
"What about him?" I said pointing at the mysterious boy that caught my eye. He was focusing hard on the notebook he was writing in. It seemed as if he was writing a rough draft of an essay, or maybe a story.
Everyone at the table turned around to see who I was talking about, once they saw who, their facial expressions turned into fear. No one said anything at first, but then Nina did.
"Blaire Weston," she said looking at him and then looking away as if he was hard to look at.
No one said much more.
"Is..there something wrong with him?" I said picking up on the awkwardness at this table when his name was mentioned.
Everyone looked at each other and then back at me.
"He's just...."
"-just a killer," Hanna spoke cutting Danny off.
"..Hanna we don't officially know what happened, we cant just assume that he killed Alli." Nina said looking down at her own thumbs playing with them.
"I'm not assuming, I know. My sister was friends with Allison and all Allison ever talked about was how weird that kid was. Let's just face it, he killed her and they should have never let him out of jail." Hanna finished getting up and walking away. Jackson shortly went after her to check up on her.
I'm still waiting for an explanation, even though I basically got one.
"So I don't understand, he killed someone?" I questioned looking at the kid still writing away in his notebook. Danny took a deep breath before talking.
"Yeah..well I mean..I don't know...It happened last year actually. Allison was a senior and Blaire was a junior of course. Blaire was always known to be this super shy and weird but super smart kid so he was in a high level senior math class. I guess Allison tutored him for some of the math material, and I guess Blaire just got attached. She went missing for a while, and they found her dead by a lake," Danny spoke looking at Nina and then me.
Chills went all over my body. He seems like such an innocent kid though, despite the way he's dressed.
I'm sure he was the first to blame because of how many not only teenagers, but probably adults too saw him as being weird, and awkward.
If he's super shy, he probably doesn't have any friends. Specifically: girl friends.
I'm not defending this kid already, and I really have no interest in speaking to him any time soon, but I understand why he would get attached to Allison.
To what extent though?
"He got let go because there wasn't enough evidence to prove him as being the killer.." Nina continued, looking into the courtyard.
"All I know is..nobody will catch me talking to that kid," Tia laughed sort of brightening up the mood, we all laughed as well.
The conversation carried on into something else as I observed..what I think I remember his name being..Blaire.
Out of nowhere he stopped writing in his notebook, and then looked up at me revealing piercing blue eyes. I quickly looked away, but the image of his haunted eyes continued to stay in my head.
"Whatever happened to Alison's family?" I questioned interrupting their current conversation. The smile Danny had on his face quickly disappeared as he looked at me.
"They moved far away I heard, I don't blame them," He spoke looking down at the table. My curiosity keeps getting the best of me right now, I just have to know more and more.
"Where did the live before?" Was my last and final question about this topic.
I could tell how it was something not wanting to be discussed amongst the group.
Danny once again looked into my eyes, his eyes looked like he was hesitant to say what he was about to say next.
"Your house"
