I shouldn't be thinking about love life in times like this. Plus, he's my fucking cousin for crying out loud! That's totally incest material if I develop feelings for Tristan. I shook my head and did a breathing session like I'm about to shoot a baby out of my cat.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
After ten times of doing that, I slapped my face and straightened my body. I then went out the bathroom, wearing a poker face. I mean, trying to wear one.
"What took you so long?" Tristan asked. "Your coffee's now cold."
"Call of nature." I simply said but still continued to drink my coffee. I didn't care if it's hot or cold, as long as the caffeine stays in the mix.
Knowing Tristan, he already sniffed out the lie behind the mask. He squinted his eyes on me but weirdly, he let it go and didn't pry any further. His eyes then drifted towards the two guys who's camping onto the hotel's cold floor. Kayla went down to the lobby, probably to pay for our rooms or buy some snacks. I have no idea to be honest.
I looked at them and thought, it's time to take matters seriously. If I just keep on sobbing and mopping around, I'm not just dragging myself down, I'm also taking them with me. I need to put aside the drama only to myself, and not let it affect other people.
I stood up and went to them, curious what they're so busy at, while seriously staring at the laptop's screen. Mentally crossing my fingers it's not porn. I got behind Keith who's sitting next to Don, and scooted myself in the middle. Tristan too hovered behind us, and sat next to Keith.
I squinted my eyes to focus on the laptop and there written on the screen, were too many names. This is the secretary's list. Don was scrolling too fast, that it's almost impossible to even read a single name.
"Are these all the buyers from the Philippines?" I asked. Don simply shook his head.
"No. This are all their customers around the world." His face looks so stressed with an obvious hint of annoyance.

"Can't you just use ctrl+f and find Philippines?" I asked and he looked at me with furrowed brows.
The list was written in excel. I don't know why he hadn't used that shortcut yet. Well Kayla's our expert computer-girl but she's still busy taking care of other things, and has left this task to this two. And obviously, they don't have a common knowledge on office shortcuts. I laughed at the thought.
By the looks on his face, Don still hadn't get what I was talking about. I closed and rolled my eyes in secret. Stupid donkey. I then pressed ctrl+f on the keyboard and typed in Philippines. There showed a list of buyers from the country. The three of them gasped and said oooooh in perfect unison, like they've practiced it in a choir.
"You guys don't use office that much huh?" He nodded and laughed.
"Thanks. This saved a whole lot of hassle" Don said then looked back to the screen, reading the 20 people who turns out to be our next target.
"Can you see any familiar names on this list?" Keith asked, as he turned his head to me.
I scanned the list and one name did caught my eye. "Dr. Alexander Jones." I said and paused, trying to remember where I've seen or heard that name. "I'm not sure. Alex Jones is what I remember, but I don't know if it's the same guy." I told them.
My childhood memory is hazy but I do remember that Alex Jones. He often calls my mom, and would always ask for me all the time. He's a family friend living in my mom's hometown, which is a few miles drive and an ocean to cross from our home. He's also our go to family doctor, back when I was still a kid, and a sickly one at that.
The two hunters looked at each other. "His name doesn't stand out in my head. I don't know if he's part of a secret elite family. Is he a vampire?" Don asked and I simply shrugged. Honestly, I don't have any idea. I mean, how would I know? I just recently found out about my true nature.

"Maybe he changed his name." Tristan finally joined in the conversation.
"Well that would make sense." Keith said and did a bro fist on Tristan.
"Well, we'll look it up later." Don said and stood up taking the laptop with him. "For now we need to go back to Misaki's house."
Tristan and Don left the room but weirdly Keith didn't. Saying he needs to tell me something. When the other two disappeared, he made me sit into the bed while he sat on the stool, facing me.
Actually I'm not nervous anymore being alone with Keith. I guess him doing another perverted stunt, is already out of the script. I think he has already moved on, on the fact that there's no fucking way I'm going to have a one-night stand with him. Leaving me with no idea on what this confrontation's all about.
"You should forget about what happened las." He bluntly said and paused when he saw me about to react. He then puts a hand in front, stopping me from interrupting him. "I know it's not easy. And you don't want your memory to be erased either." He stopped and smirked. "But there's a secret. Don't listen to your conscience."
I scrunched up my eyebrows. "That doesn't make sense." He simply laughed.
"What you did wasn't right nor was it wrong." He crossed his legs and eased on the chair. "You had to do it. It's them or us. If you were in their position, they would have killed you too without hesitation."
Wow, that surprisingly rhymed. And he's got a point. Just like in my dream, where the roles had been switched and I'm the one who got shot in the head. I shivered at the memory. But this is still all so hard to take in, like chewing a taffy candy.
He studied my face waiting for a reaction, but I didn't. I stayed silent, trying to sink in every word that he said. Then he stood up, and went in front of me as he puts a hand on my shoulder. "Don't beat yourself too hard."
Keith then went for the door, but seconds away before he turns the knob. I looked to him and said... "Thanks for the talk counselor." He simply laughed and went on his way.
After Keith disappeared, Kayla then got back inside the room, with a serious face that's scary but also with a weird blend of sympathy. She gulped before she opened her mouth. "Vicky, you wouldn't like what you'll hear. Whatever I say, stay calm okay?"
"What's going on?" I said and walked towards her. "You're freaking me out. Are you pregnant?" I asked and she hit my head while laughing lightly.
"No, god no." She paused and sighed. "I don't know if I should tell you this. Or wait till we go back to the lab."
I replied with the loudest ugh ever in my life. "Come on. You're tickling my curious bone! This is torture. Tell me now."
She then looked at me and held both my arm. "Jonas called me earlier. I went out because he told me so." She gulped and continued. "Well, he's been studying your DNA, and he found out that..." She paused for a second but it felt like an eternity. "...you're not a half-blood."
My brows again had reunited and formed a bridge in my forehead. "Then what am I?"
"The thing is. We don't know." She said and my eyes probably jumped out of my skull and is now rolling on the hotel's floor. As did my brain exploded into pieces of caviar.
What the fudgin nuggets! What am I? An alien?
***
Hello again, thanks for reading! See you the next Saturday for more chapters.
And by the way, I do want to hear your honest reaction on this. Am I imposing too much drama? I don't know if I should take a break from this story or something. I think I'm having some early symptoms of a possible writer's block.

Candor: The Forgotten House
*** Please read note below *** As a 16-year-old mage from a powerful family, Jayce Candor had known from a young age what his future would hold. As the fourth son in his family the possibility of him becoming the heir to the household was very small. But, with his talent as a mage, his potential accomplishments in the military could lead to titles of nobility and political power. However, on what would otherwise be an unremarkable night, everything he had ever known, the only people he ever cared for, and all of the plans for his future were destroyed. House Candor, one of the six great houses that helped build the Eldoran Empire had been erased from history. By imperial decree, all those bearing the name Candor were hunted down and executed as traitors of the Empire. With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here

One day, when his ancestral inheritance manifested, he discovered he was able to steal other’s powers and abilities using demonic magic. Until he was summarily defeated by the Hero as a mid-game boss battle and executed for his crimes, of course. When a dedicated fan of the RPG “Next to Eden” awakened in the body of the cruelest future Count, four years before the beginning of the game, he pledged to live humbly. He would let his brother lead and support the Hero from the shadows to ensure the demon invasion would be defeated and he could enjoy life in peace. How was he supposed to live a life of peace and luxury if the Hero couldn’t stop the end of the world!? Donning a mask, Cyrus took up mentoring the Hero himself; how hard could it possibly be? . . . Four years later, the kind jack-of-all-trades hero Leon had become a twisted powerhouse: alienating his party members, clearing enemy encounters in a single magical blast, and coldly ignoring the affections of the girl whose love would have allowed him to clear the final boss. He seemed to have plastered himself to his Master’s side, instead. Cyrus bit back his despair while the hero reached out to grasp his hand. “Please stop ignoring the saint, Leon; you can't beat the Demon King by grinding stats! You need the power of love, remember?” “Don’t worry, Master,” Leon smiled as he traced the lines of Cyrus’s palm gently, almost reverently. “I have all the love I need.” VDL is two parts plot and worldbuilding, one part slow-build gay romance, starring a man far too proud to admit he's in over his head and the hero who loves him. Should be updating weekly.
