"Holy shit. You're go..." I said but Tristan as gentleman as he is, abruptly cut me off. I was about to give him some life lessons, on how it's not right to do that sort of thing. But then I realized he's face had gotten serious, too serious.
"We should go." Tristan said and grabbed my arm. He then opened the divider that would lead to the garden outside.
"What's going on?" Both Kayla and I asked him.
"She called in the guards." He simply said, as we walked passed another mini bridge, without shoes nor coats to shield us from freezing. The cold would've probably turned us into popsicle sticks, but the adrenaline rush we're feeling right now, feels like an internal heating system.
We were nearing the house's wall when we heard a commotion behind us. There were tons of shouting, and most were in Japanese. "Stop them." Was the only thing I've understood from all the voices, and it obviously came from Marianne. Of course there's no subtitle on the other ones, unlike the movies.
Then I heard a gunshot, its a good thing it hit a tree and not me. I looked to the side where the bullet came from, and by the distance I saw the culprit lying limply on the cold floor. As Keith had just taken him down, also he took the guard's gun, probably for souvenir.
"Wait." I grabbed Tristan's shirt by the back, and pointed at Keith.
"Hurry up!" We both shouted, and there's no need for us to tell him that, because he's running like a kid on high dose of sugar. Keith did catch up to us, and he's now shooting people while hiding behind a tree for cover.
I'm no expert wall climber but I do know that I will have to pretend like one at this very moment. We have no other choice, this is the only possible exit for us.
"Come on. I'll give you a push." Tristan said as he puts his hands in front of him, improvising a trampoline.

Suddenly Don's head popped up on the other side of the wall. "Hurry! I'll cover you guys." He then pulled out a gun and started shooting the ones nearing us.
I leapt onto Tristan's hands and caught the top of the wall. I pulled my body up and jumped onto the car's head that was waiting below us. I actually forgot my fear of heights on this dire moment. Then I saw Kayla who's also busy shooting people outside the gate.
Damn. It'd be awesome if I can take a selfie right now and post it on Instagram. My god, this is fucking real, we're really animating an action movie.
"Get inside the fucking car." Kayla shouted at me, while I was hiding behind the hood. I nodded and crawled my way onto the back seat.
I then heard another bump on the roof's car and immediately followed by another one. I hope it's not Don's body. Tristan's face showed up and went inside, followed by Keith with a bleeding arm.
Holy shit.
Immediately the other two got on the car as well. Kayla had now taken over the driver's seat, and I held on tightly on my seatbelt. Knowing that this is going to be a rough ride.
I looked behind and saw two cars following us. Damn. I never imagined myself to be in a car chase. Then they started shooting. Fuck!
"Don't worry its bulletproof." Don said on the front seat. "Our problem now, is how to lose the tail." He then looked at Kayla.
Kayla snickered. "This is my forte brother." She said, in a voice full of confidence.
She then made a hard turn to the right, and we're now inside an alley that's too small for us to go through, or probably not. And by the sound of it, it looks like we'll have to return the car with tons of scratches. Miraculously, we did made it out in one piece. I looked back and there's now only one car following us, guess the other one hadn't survived the tight road.

Keith grunted when Kayla made a hard turn again, but this time it's on the left side, where Keith is. And that sudden motion hit his injured arm.
"Sorry." Kayla said, and Keith simply replied. "It's fine. Just get us out of this mess." He said with gritted teeth.
Don pulled down his window and started shooting onto the car that's following us, but went back inside. "Damn. I can't get a clear shot." He then looked at me. "Do you know how to use a gun?"
I pointed a finger on my face, unsure if that question was directed at... "Me?"
"Yes. You piglet." He simply said.
"Don!" Both Tristan and Keith shouted at him.
"Shut up! We all know both of you don't have the capability to use a gun. Injured right arm." He paused and pointed at Keith then looked at Tristan. "And a nerd with bad eye-sight." Don said and for the first time, I saw him this mad and harsh.
But he does have a point.
"I'll try." I said to him. He nodded and opened up the car's roof. Well, the car's not convertible, it just have a small opening like the ones on limousines'. He then handed me a gun.
"Try not to kill yourself." Don said and I laughed.
"Oh I won't. I haven't eaten ramen yet." I told him. Then I looked at Tristan. "Move." I said, so I'd be the one on the middle.
"You sure about this?" Tristan asked me, he's now seating on my place.
"Yes." I started standing up. "It's time I play a part on this mission."
I said trying my hardest not to shake as much. Well I did my best hiding my anxiousness with jokes, hoping it would take away the seriousness of this situation were in. And honestly, an imaginary courage is what I need right now.
I popped my head out, and aimed the gun onto the enemy's car front window, specifically on the driver. I inhaled deeply, honing out some inner Jedi strength.
Then I finally pulled the trigger and it did hit on the car's roof, too far from the target. Damn. It's harder than I'd expected. It's like aiming an arrow, but it's so hard to hit the red spot in the middle. I released a few shots and went back inside when they too had started shooting.
I came back up and breathe in really hard, like I was sucking all the oxygen around me. Then I closed my eyes for a brief second, shutting everything out and only held my focus onto the damn driver's face. I finally exhaled, and came with that was a bullet from my gun.
Bullseye!
I had a clear hit. The enemy's car crushed onto a pole, and the front exploded because of the hard impact. I stared in shock as it's now burning into flames. Instead of jumping out of happiness, I felt a really hard pang in my heart, like I too was hit by a bullet.
I sighed. Did I just killed someone? Kill. I went back inside and slumped onto the seat, stunned of what I just did.
"Wow. You're a natural. You definitely have a hunter's blood." Don said and flashed me the biggest smile I've seen from him.
"Yeah. Now I'm a killer too. Like my mother." I simply replied, as I felt the tears running down my cheeks.
What was I thinking? I could have just aimed on the engine or the wheels. I shook my head. I've placed the red dot on the wrong place. It was the biggest mistake of my life.
I'm a monster!

Draugr Cell //Layer 01-- Investiture:
With the end of the only war to ever reach mainland Australia I found myself living out of a small room in an old military compound that had been handed over to the jurisdiction of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The end of the war, unfortunately, didn't mean the end of hostilities. The terrorism trend that had started back in the early 2000's with the attack on the world trade center over in America, had spread to just about every country on the face of the planet. Over time the constant threat from various groups meant the civilian police force was quickly undermanned, under equipped, and overwhelmed. They were simply unable to respond to the daily threats in any reasonable time frame, and in many situations lacked the both the skills and equipment required to deal with the threats to put them down in a 'safe' and expedient manner. Veterans of the war that were being reintegrated into society however, were just about everywhere, all the time. We have the training and the skills required to deal with just about any threat you care to mention, all we needed was access to the equipment to do so. In a world first, under the new Veterans program, the Australian government had taken the rather controversial step of allowing specifically selected veterans to go armed in public. Sure, with Australian weapons laws being very, very strict there were a number of hurdles to get over first, but that's where the selection part comes in. Tangentially that's actually how I met Brianna, my current partner. We work as ringers in Victory City, I thought being thrown into imptomtu combat operations and risking my life on a daily basis for barely livable wages was excitement enough. Then I met her... it... I don't know. An AI unlike anything else out there has wedged itself into my life and decided it needs to... look after me. What could possibly go wrong? **** This is the first book I have released, and my first entry into a cyberpunk universe. There is minimal drug use, a fair amount of sex, a bit of gory violence, and a sultry AI that has decided the main character needs a harem.
