《The Nerd that turned out to be Vampire-ish [Wattys2015]》CHAPTER 42: The hive.

As Don drive through unfamiliar roads, I distracted myself with the view outside the window. Though everything seems like a blur for nothing really registered in my head.

I've been trying real hard to keep myself calm, and blocking all sorts of negative thoughts to keep my brain from over thinking. But over thinking is a bad habit most girls have, we were born with it. It feels like a lizard's tail, even if I cut it, it still follows me around. And these few moments without an annoying tail, might do miracles.

"You okay?" Tristan asked me. He rose an eyebrow on me while looking at my feet tapping endlessly on the car's floor.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm tap dancing." I said and tried to do some foot tricks but failed. Though I still ended it with a "Tadaaa~"

"Worst performance ever." He simply said and rolled his eyes.

"And stop tapping its annoying." Kayla said who's sitting next to Tristan and me on the back seat.

That said, I put my hands on top of my knees, to stop it from moving. But then my hands started tapping, damn this is contagious. I heard Kayla growl on the other side beside Tristan. I can't see her face but I do know she's already putting a red dot on my head, and is about to pull the trigger. So I crossed both my hands and feet, hoping not to make the slightest movement.

The car we're using is a high end black Mercedes Benz. It's not for leisure purposes, it's simply for showing off. And there's nothing much of a difference. I guess its part of the disguise to make us look like rich kids, of some sort. I feel like Cinderella, though ours is like an upgraded version of the pumpkin coach.

Connections, again, played another role on this. Obviously the budget on this trip can't afford to buy this sort of car. And we don't have a fairy godmother to turn a vegetable into a car or Don into a horse. So Kayla pulled out another card and made a deal with her friend that turns out to be a car broker – and I think it's kind of an illegal business – she talked him out to borrow one of his cars for the day. And this is it.

The ride was longer than I'd expected, or I'm just being impatient. The place were off to, is away from civilization, because well, I'm not seeing any more houses nor other infrastructures.

Don slowed up his pace when we were nearing our target. The house is intimidating to be honest. And I guess, we all shared the same thought, for the car is now suddenly filled with an eerie silence, as we all looked at the dashing building. I could almost hear the imaginary crickets come to life.

(. You can see the picture of the house in the attached image)

"You guys ready?" Keith turned around from the front seat to look at Tristan and me.

I exhaled, and probably that's the longest one in my life, or the last one. "It's now or never." I replied and he smirked.

I looked to my side where I can see the house's walls, that feels like it's never ending, or maybe this lot is just too big.

And at last, we came to a stop in front of the gate. Keith got out first and opened the car's door for us, immediately playing his role. We pushed the door bell and without further notice, it opened. Now we've come face to face to a girl in a brown kimono. On her side were two men that seemed like bodyguards, almost wearing the same outfit as Keith's. And one guard was holding out the gate for us, I had a glimpse of his face and he is weirdly familiar.

Where have I seen this guy?

The kimono girl bowed to us. "Welcome." She said and paused. "Miss Green is expecting you." She then gestured for us to follow her.

Kayla had already set an appointment for us to meet the secretary, and yes it's kind of less nerve-wracking this way, than what I had in mind. I thought we would just randomly walk in here and go wild like a lunatic, complaining about random stuff. It's a good thing I didn't suggest that, for she might reconsider it. I laughed in my head, imagining us throwing rocks at the gate.

As were walking further inside, I'm now seeing the house in its full view. And damn, it's the best example of the word grand or enormous. I looked around to see a perfectly landscaped garden, where benches are placed underneath some trees. And as we passed onto a small bridge, below it was a pond filled with lilies. It's all so beautiful, I could spend a day just roaming around here. Even though the place is covered in snow, it's still pretty to look at, and what more if its spring.

The kimono girl went inside the house. She took our coats, then instructed us to take off our shoes as well, and wear the ones on the side. We walked through hallways then finally she stopped onto what looks like a divider – or a door of some sort – and pushed it aside. She then ushered us inside a room to what seems like their meeting area.

Four seats with no feet, and a single round coffee table awaits us. It's placed near another divider that seems to face the garden outside, but it's closed for now.

"Miss Green will see you here in a minute." She said and bowed again before she disappeared. The same goes for Keith but without the bowing, he too departed seconds after the kimono girl left.

Tristan and I sat on the chairs, while crossing our feet, like a samurai. I really don't know the proper way to seat on this thing, so I just went for what feels right and comfortable.

The table already had a set of tea, and I have no idea if we can help ourselves, or wait for the secretary. The wall I'm facing was designed with rocks, big flat ones. On each side of it had square paper lanterns with intricate floral designs, and the shadows that's illuminated from it gives off a unique feature to the wall.

Suddenly the divider facing the hallways opened, and were now seeing in person the picture Kayla shown to us before in the headquarters. She's wearing a maroon colored kimono with lavish designs, different from the kimono girl's plain brown one. And from her facial features, I could tell that she's not Japanese. She has sandy blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes, probably on the same age bracket as Divina.

She bowed and said her greetings. We too stood up and bowed to her. "Hi. I apologize for the wait." She said and walked towards us, she then shook our hands and made introductions.

"My name's Marianne." She paused and tried to remember something. "And you're the Davidson's sibling, am I right?" She asked us, and we both nodded. Well I chuckled for a bit, how can a secretary be this forgetful.
