《The Nerd that turned out to be Vampire-ish [Wattys2015]》CHAPTER 36: Unexpected call. (Part II)

"Stupid donkey! Come here! I'll pull your tongue out and stick it in your ass!" I went for him like a raging bull. Gosh this is so childish, but oh well, instincts tells me to attack this guy and so I will.
Don kept laughing loudly as he run around, and I was panting heavily even with just a few laps. He got up the stairs and run inside his room in the second floor. Coward.
I knocked on his door with both my hands and feet. "Come out of there donkey and face your judgment!" I shouted behind his door.
"Vicky. There's no point on that. He'll just bore you out waiting." Kayla shouted downstairs. I sighed. But before I went down I kicked his door really hard. In the end it was my foot that felt pain.
Damn steel doors.
Keith was also sitting with Kayla on the kitchen's counter. I decided to tell him the truth before it gets really awkward between us. I turned my stool to face him. "Just so you know. I don't have a crush on you, okay? What Don said..." He cut me off with a wave of his hand as he laughed.
"He told me that you eat and fart like a pig." He said, and this time Kayla joined in with his laughing session.
"Oh. Shit." I said and then scratched my head. "That's not true. And I feel kinda sleepy." I faked a yawn, and slowly got out of the stool. "Good night. See ya tomorrow." I said to them and hastily run upstairs to the guestroom I'm staying. An obvious escape act to hide from this humiliation.
The room was plain but comfortable enough for a human. It was painted with white, again, and it seems like all the rooms I've been staying in all of my misfit adventures, was inspired by the heavens. Though this is not showered by elaborate decorations. It only had a single bed, a small cabinet, and a bathroom.

I was lying on my bed and started rolling from side to side. Thinking about how embarrassing that was. I don't know what's more embarrassing, me telling him the crush incident or being known as the resident pig? I rolled my eyes in clockwise and counterclockwise motion, like exercising my eyeballs to have abs.
Then my phone suddenly rang. I looked and it was Tristan. Should I answer? I'm not allowed to call or answer calls without supervision...
But before I knew it, I swiped the green icon without thinking. Shit. My fingers has a mind of its own. I sighed and put the phone next to my ear. "Hey nerd. What's up?"
"Where are you?" His voice was more serious than normal.
"In the province." I told him the same lie I said to Daisy.
This is unusual, he's not really the type to call. If it was Will then it's understandable. Though I've had several missed calls from him. Will... my supposed to be little brother—well not literally he's a foot taller than me. But at that time Don and Kayla always had their eyes on me, like a hawk. So I wasn't able to answer.
"Don't lie Victoria." This time I can sense that he's mad. I realized that whenever he uses my name and not hobbit, something's up.
"I am not." I said defensively.
"You hesitated." He sighed. "Please we're worried."
"I'm fine. Okay. So please don't stress yourself." I said trying to calm him down.
"Will said you're kidnapped." His voice was really stressed. It makes me want to tell him the truth but I can't. Not yet.
"What that's absurd!" I bit my tongue.
"He followed you on your way home, he said you suddenly disappeared before his eyes." Tristan's voice was still full of anxiousness.

"I took a shortcut." I paused. "I'm almost low bat. Call you later. Bye." I ended the call before he could sense that I lied, again. Tristan weirdly knows me too well that it's scary.
I turned off my phone and slumped on my bed. I hate this. I don't like making him worry. But this is for their own good. Will is not ready to hear the truth yet, not until I find our mother, and bring her to him.
Wow. Did I just set an impossible goal?
My insomnia started to kick in, well my brain's too busy thinking of unsolved problems and random thoughts. One of which is Tristan as my cousin, were blood related now. Knowing that Will and I came from the same sperm that fertilized our mother's womb. Yeah, Tristan's father Augustus is my father's brother, which makes us first cousins.
But why am I bothered by this? So, what now if were cousins? Shouldn't I feel happy? To have a new family, I mean vampire family.
But Tristan... I scratched my head and scrunched up my hair roughly.
What's wrong with me?
A knock on the door brought me back to reality and out of my tangled thoughts. I jumped out of bed and opened the door. Kayla was standing there looking at me with balled out eyes.
"You do realize, you look like a crazy lady." She said as her mouth formed into a smile. "Anyway dinner's ready. Come down if you want to eat. Keith's our cook for the night." Then she winked at me.
I growled. "You guys love to torment me do you?" She laughed. "I'm about to sleep. I'll pass and empty my stomach for breakfast. Tell the cook tomorrow to make the food fit for the resident pig." I winked at her in return.
Kayla messed up my hair more. "Yeah. Well then goodnight not-so-sleeping-beauty." I nodded to her but before I closed the door. "Hey uh. I wanted to ask you something."
This thought had also been bothering me and further fueled my insomnia. Kayla returned and looked at me. "What is it?"
"How can a hunter be turned? I thought keepers only have one choice?" I was talking about Victoria – well my mother's – situation. Kayla said she was a hunter before she became turned.
Kayla smirked. "She was a special case. And well, she's also a special person to one of the world council's leader, though I don't know who that council member is. So when Divina Carius proposed for her friend to be turned because she was dying, and she would be a big lost to our world, especially with her skills. The council approved of her notion, so Victoria became turned." Kayla then shrugged like that information wasn't a big deal anymore.
"Wow. That stuff happens huh." Connections played a big role on this. "Thanks for the info. Now I can sleep in peace."
"You're one curious piglet Vicky." She laughed and turned her heels. "Goodnight."
I closed the door and jumped on my bed face down. I rolled and made myself into a human hotdog with the comforter as buns. This is confusing...
So who is that mysterious council member?
