《The Nerd that turned out to be Vampire-ish [Wattys2015]》CHAPTER 36: Unexpected call. (Part I)

Keith laughed at my weak response and my overall confidence, that's probably the polar opposite of the other two. "I'm guessing this one's not a hunter." He said as his stark gray eyes bore through mine.
"No." Kayla said grimly. Her excitement faded because of my killjoy ass.
"Why is she here then?" Keith started to walk around the table and stop in front of me. I bet they haven't explained to him in full detail about this whole situation. "I smell something fishy." He then puts both of his hands on the table in front of me, as he stared to my eyes. It seems like he's studying every detail of my face. And it's freaking awkward. I don't know if I should stare back, or look somewhere and pretend he's not here. Then his mouth formed into a smirk. "Your face seems familiar. Have we met before las?" He turned to Don. "Vicky huh."
Don looked at Kayla, like asking for permission whether to spill the beans or not. "Yeah go ahead. Tell him. He won't stop prying." Kayla said and gestured Don with a go signal.
"She's Victoria Hale's daughter." Don bluntly said and pointed me with his thumb. He then looked behind, and his eyes settled on a room next to the one I woke up on when I first got here. The room Don's staring at is Jonas study. "And if you need proof, just ask Jonas about the scientific explanation."
Keith didn't replied but continued to stare at me. His face had hints of surprise, confusion, and doubt. "Bro it's the truth. Don't fight it, just accept it." Don simply said and slumped on his chair, as his hands positioned behind his head.
"Does Will know?" He asked, and this question was directed to me.

There was a few seconds of drum rolls before I answered. "No. Not yet." I paused. "You know him?"
"Yes. My oldest brother was Will's..." He stopped and corrected his earlier sentence. "...uh I mean your mother's colleague in the academy. Will and I are childhood friends." He took off his cap and run a hand through his thick raven hair. "So you're his sister."
"Since we're talking about history. Did you know that Don's father was Victoria's mentor before she was turned?" Kayla paused and studied my expression. Seeing my surprise and dumbfounded face. "Oh, guess you hadn't known that still." She said and crossed her arms as she eased on her seat.
I looked at Don, who's staring at the ceiling. "Is that true?" He simply nodded. I sighed, maybe there are some things he can't randomly blurt out, even for a blabbermouth. I understand, maybe it was hard for him to deal with. Especially the pressure and the burden of carrying his father's broken name.
That guess is too deep and broad.
Maybe the real reason his father failed to solve this case was because he's intentionally covering Victoria. A friend he can't bail for the sake of work. That's probably the reason why Don kept it from me, for he probably thought I'd think of that. I guess he doesn't want people to think his father was weak. But if he did shared that to me, I'd think the opposite. I will salute his father's loyalty for friendship. That's rare nowadays the act of selflessness, and its honorable, not a disappointment.
"So this is the reunion of the second generation huh?" I said to ease the tension, and that made Don chuckle and so did Keith.
"Interesting. You're like the reincarnation of Victoria Hale." He smirked. He then took the bag on my side and went inside the main room of this headquarter.

That smirk reminds me of Tristan... Shit why am I thinking of that nerd. Suddenly a powerpoint presentation of nerd's face played in my head. It paused on that heated moment we had on the back side of his car. I smacked my face real hard to get a hold of myself and my annoying hormones.
Don laughed on my side, and so did Kayla on the distance. They sure are sadists. "You okay?" Don asked with a wide grin on his face.
"Yeah." I smacked my arm as well. "There's just too many mosquitos here." I said with an exaggerated face of disgust. They laughed again.
"There are no mosquitos here Vicky. Jonas assured us of that." Kayla then pointed at a machine that works for general cleaning and eliminating insects. She then walked to our side of the table and sat in front of me. "So what's the deal?"
"Oh I know." Don clicked his fingers then looked at me with wide eyes. "You like Keith!"
"No I don't!" I exclaimed, with my now interconnected brows.
"Oh don't deny. So are you telling us that you're not attracted to him?" Kayla asked with amusement on her eyes.
"No. I mean yes. I don't know." I paused. "I don't like him okay! We just met for SpongeBob's sake." I said in a higher tone and desperately threw my hands in the air. They laughed at my dramatic reaction.
"Calm your tits woman." Don tapped my shoulder. "But so you know he's single." He winked at me, and ran before I could punch him.
I let out a loud ugh. Don is the most immature friend I've had since I started befriending humans.
"Calm down. He's just teasing you." Kayla said and jumped out of the table. "I'll get some ice cream. Wanna come?" I nodded and smiled. Ice cream always heals my erupting nerves.
When we went inside the main room. Don had a goofy smile pasted on his face as he's talking to Keith. Keith on the other hand, had this awkward expression, and he somewhat looks like he's forcing himself not to laugh, when his eyes met mine. I can definitely see the obvious glint of amusement and humor in his eyes.
Don did not just...
