《The Nerd that turned out to be Vampire-ish [Wattys2015]》CHAPTER 31: Fish out of water.

I woke up lying in a hospital-like bed with my hands and feet both tied on the sides of the bed's railing. The room I'm in had glass walls, so I can clearly see what it looks like on the other side. It looks like a laboratory, of some sort. There are tons of equipment laid on every corner outside this room, but I have no idea what those are for. Then suddenly a person in a lab gown opened the door to my room and said "Hi".
He looks like an actor in those hospital drama shows, he's pretty handsome, but I'm feeling some geeky aura around him. His hair is in a dirty-blond shade, and his face was like carved to have a perfect chiseled jawline. He's also pretty tall and too muscular for a guy in a gown, I mean lab gown. Is this guy really the scientist/doctor/inventor/astronaut in here, or that gown is just his fashion?
I didn't replied with his greeting, because I'm kind of still pissed on why mafia girl punched me, and this kidnapping stunt in general. "I'm glad you're awake." He said and came to my side. "I'm Jonas by the way." He paused and scratched his head. "And I apologize for what Kayla did. Her temper is sometimes... out of hand." So mafia girl's name is Kayla. I wonder what's the real name of that stupid donkey.
I sighed, I shouldn't pull my trigger to this person, he somewhat feels like a nice guy type.
"It's fine as long as she didn't leave a mark." I said to Jonas, but he didn't say a word. Though his face looks rather guilty, and it somewhat gave me a hint that Kayla did have her fist carved on my face.
Damn it.
Okay... how awkward is this situation? I feel like I'm a lunatic trying to have a decent conversation with a doctor. "Can you untie me? It's hard to scratch my nose with my tongue. And don't offer your hands either." Jonas laughed and nodded.

"You seem harmless." He slowly took off the Velcro-like hand cuffs on the sides of my bed, and also the ones on my feet. "There."
I sat up and touched my aching wrists. "Thanks. Won't they kill you for freeing me?" I asked, even though I don't have any intentions on going back to being tied.
"No. Kayla's my girlfriend she won't hurt me, and she has control over her partner, Don. So everything's settled. Uhm anyway you hungry? Want blood?" He asked and I waved my hand. This guy is too nice that it's almost too suspicious. I bet they're playing good cop and bad cop, on me.
I paused my line of thoughts...
"Wait Don? The donkey?" I asked and Jonas burst into a fit of laughter. "I'll take that as a yes. His name fits him well." I paused and run a hand on my imaginary beard. "Don, short for donkey." Jonas raised his hand on the floor, while his other one was clutching his stomach.
"Please... stop." He said in between giggles and hiccups. "I'm... weak to... jokes. You're... going to... kill me." And I thought Will had the weirdest laugh, this one is weirder, hands down.
"Laughter is the best medicine. It will heal you, not kill you. And what I said wasn't a joke. He is a stupid donkey." After I said that the door suddenly burst open and came in the... "Donkey." My mouth continued what was running in my head, and it was too late for me to take back what I said. So I just covered it with my hands.
Donkey's brows furrowed. "Donkey?" He asked, his face was formed into a question mark and Jonas laughter grew louder. "And what's going on here?" He asked another question while looking at kookookatchu –it means crazy, in my dictionary– Jonas, and then looks at me. "Why aren't you tied?"

Donkey went to my side and ordered me to lay down, so that he can tie me up, again. This time Jonas shot up and shifted to a more serious demeanor. He held Don's hand and shook his head. "Don't." Don looked at Jonas who's towering over him. "I don't see the point on tying her. She's harmless and innocent."
Don smirked. "You sure geek?" His question was directed to Jonas.
Did he just mock the bigger guy?
Jonas jaws clenched and his eyes were tense. It looks like he doesn't like being called geek. "The test is done. She's not the person you're looking for." He then looked at me and his eyes softened a bit. Before he continued the next line, his Adam's apple moved when he swallowed, to what looks like a gallon of saliva. "This girl... is the daughter of Victoria Hale."
"WHAAAAAAT?!" All of us shrieked, including Kayla who just entered the room, and has now stood frozen by the door. I mean, who wouldn't be shocked? We all knew vampires, pure or taken, can only give birth once.
This is pure bullshit.
"That's impossible." Don exclaimed. "We all knew Victoria already had a child." I nodded, and for the first time I agreed to him.
"Yes. But her genes..." Jonas stopped and scratched his head. "I was shocked as well. But I'm telling the truth."
Kayla finally regained her composure. "Victoria Hale was a turned." She said in a low voice, and her face looks like she's trying to put up a puzzle in her head.
Opposite to me. I'm still in a state of shock, and I can't seem to get a hold of myself. I don't even know where my voice had run off to. My eyes and ears are with them, but my mind had already drifted and flew far far away from the universe.
How can that be? I'm Victoria Hale's daughter? There must be some kind of mistake.
Jonas nodded in reply to Kayla's question, and I think he knows what's running through her head. So he blurted it out in the open.
"The turned ones are unstable. I know." Jonas paused and looked at Kayla. "So there's a big possibility." He paused again and cleared his throat. "I've heard about another turned gave birth twice before, and we all thought it was a bluff because there was no proof of that. Also the said vampire wasn't found, so was her children." He paused again. "But this time, this kid, is the living proof." He touched my shoulder. "I want to make further research of her."
Now I understand why the said vampire in his story disappeared, they probably knew that they'd become test subjects. The vampire world had long evolved from the medieval times, and on this era they embrace science like a teddy bear.
"I don't want to be a lab rat." I said and took his hands off me, as I wiggled myself out of the bed. Finally my voice came back, as well as my mind, for panic had called them back to me. I'm literally scared and lost. I can't think clearly, all I know is that I don't want to become the frog I dissected on our biology class.
Someone help me. I started crying. I'm so scared that I felt even more helpless than a fish out of water.

Borne of Desire
A man given a new lease on life finds himself amongst pokemon. From his memories of pokemon as a whole, he assumes the power of pokemon and the world around him runs on convenient fate, rule of cool, and cheesy friendship just like any other anime. Unfortunately for everyone else, he's 100% right. NOTE: If Borne of Caution is an attempt at a coherent and realistic look at pokemon, then, Borne of Desire is the opposite. It's all the mindless indulgence I DONT want in a serious story. It's a very seat-of-my-pants for-fun project and is written with no storyboard. Updates will be inconsistent and quality cannot be assured. Not to be taken too seriously.

The Loyal Ones [Dark Biopunk Fantasy]
TLDR; A slave monster survives horror, war and servitude, while trying to live with himself. Thralls are a race of monstrous slave soldiers, in a universe where biological magic takes the place of technology. Centuries ago, their ancestors were desperate humans, who volunteered to be transformed for the Poison War. Today their unfortunate descendants are still soldiers and laborers. In contract law they are 'corporate wards'; slaves owned largely by arms dealers. Dally Harper starts this story as a champion cage fighter. He is one of the 'lucky' ones. It's all downhill from there. Content Warning: Explicit violence and gore, slavery, implied sexual assault. None of these are framed as positive or glorified, however they do have a strong impact on the plot and main characters.
